ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List Updates

[edit]

Hi PS10330055, I can see that you are updating different types of list on a daily basis which is good. But at the same time make sure you update the "as of" dates mentioned in those lists. Otherwise it is really difficult to track what is updated or not. mitratanmoy 11:58, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add live updates to articles

[edit]

Please wait until the match has completed before making any changes to the goalscorers or to any scoreline. Wikipedia is not a platform for live updates, and there is the possibility that other editors will add the same goals after the match that you added during the match. — Jkudlick ⚓ (talk) 16:27, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have not explained why the information you have deleted is unnecessary. The fact Ben Duckett suffered an injury and was moved down the order, for example, indicates that England may have been at a disadvantage in their innings. In my book, that is relevant information. Also, did Salman Ali Agha score his 1,000th run and simply stop there?? If relevant contextual information can be expressed concisely, I see no reason why it should not be included.

(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 09:35, 9 October 2024 (UTC))[reply]

Wikipedia does not require information like England having been at a disadvantage or even if Duckett was moved down the order, that is not necessary information for Wikipedia.
As for 1,000 Test runs of Salman Ali Agha, this is the way it is written. For example, Kamindu Mendis just reached his 1,000th Test run in the 2nd Test against New Zealand, and it has been written in the same way there. Kamindu Mendis (SL) scored his 1,000th run in Tests PEditorS10 (talk) 09:39, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't require that the information on Agha reaching 1,000 Test runs should be included either. You are inventing rules that don't exist!! I include information that a reader may find useful and add to their understanding. If I consulted the scorecard and saw Duckett batting at number 4, I would wonder why.

There is no reason why the format of a sentence should be exactly the same on every occasion, so your argument holds no weight.

(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 10:50, 9 October 2024 (UTC))[reply]

I refer you to the second bullet point under WP:MASSR. Also, please look at the very long match reports in 2023 Ashes series. By comparison, I cannot see that the deletion of small amount of information is in any way justified. Your comments would be appreciated.
