Rock Garden, Darjeeling

I like the beautiful photographs in this article, but think they are a bit neglected in a gallery at the bottom. Could you split at least some up, especially whichever you think is the best overall shot for the top, and maybe some to illustrate the description in the text? Unspecified source for Image:Bakkhali_Beach.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bakkhali_Beach.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:19, 7 July 2007 (UTC). Greetings,

I note your article and photographs of the Rock Gardens in Darjeeling were featured by Wikipedia today. I have used a photo attributed to you in a blog post about Darjeeling Tea at: http://cafe-grendel.blogspot.com/2007/07/darjeeling-tea.html and have indicated that you are the creator of the image. I hope this use is ok - it seemed to fall within the guidelines of the GNU licensing.

It's unfortunate that you have decided to quit it. And I am sorry I forgot to pursue the things there which you had notified me some days back. Sorry. More unfortunate is I probably won't be able to pursue the stuffs as I am leaving Kolkata for nearly 5 months, and do not know if I will be able to be in Wikipedia for much time. Hi! How are you? After a long hiatus, I am back on wikipedia and hopefully for good now. I have noticed that you have continued the great work that you were doing when I was regular. Glad to know that. Take care. Antorjal 17:03, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. You are indeed a very humble person to acknowledge my contributions when your own have been nothing short of amazing. You have maintained a high level of productivity and quality which is outstanding. I wish I could have contributed continuously but personal considerations (I got married and my mother was ill) precluded my spending time on wikipedia. Now I am back and willing to help on a regular basis... let me know if there is anything you need me to do. Take care. Antorjal 14:43, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Paharpur, Gaya, by Aditya Kabir (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Paharpur, Gaya fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

all material shifted to Paharpur, making this page redundant

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Paharpur, Gaya, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. H. E. A. Cotton

Hello - I wonder whether you can help. I found this article that you created recently when checking category:Alumni of Jesus College, Oxford to see whether there were any more names to be added to List of people associated with Jesus College, Oxford (a Featured List, but always room for improvement!). Do you happen to know from your sources the years that he was at the college? He doesn't get mentioned in the leading modern history of the College (JNL Baker's "Jesus College 1571-1971") nor does his Times obituary mention dates (I'll gladly send it to you if you've not seen it - it refers to him as "Sir Evan Cotton", rather than "HEA Cotton"), and I can't find anything on a quick Google search about him and the college. Any further information gratefully received! Regards, BencherliteTalk 19:57, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Never mind, worth a try! I've only got the obituary as an image file from the Times digital archive, so I can't "cut and paste" the words onto a page or into an email. If you want to have the image file, email me and I'll send it that way. Let me know if you send me an email, as my Wikipedia email address isn't one I check often. Thanks, BencherliteTalk 09:43, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

spelling of Shantipur

Hi,

I am bewildered as to why you have chosen to change the spelling of "Shantipur" to "Santipur" I am from that city. We all have over the ages pronounced the initial sound with an "sh." The first part of the name, "shanti" means peace. It is spelled with the Bengali letter that is pronounced as an "sh" and not simply an "S" What prompted you singlehandedly decided to change the spelling of this ancient name? Please restore the merge for SHANTIPUR. This is not a matter of regional dialect or regional pronunciation but, correct reference. Just a reminder,Shantipur- Nodia standard(yes it is pronounced with an "O" NOT an "A") is the "cholti bhasha" benchmark. There is a trend to "Anglify" the spelling and pronunciation of many indigenous Indian words. It is sad that most Indians have bought into this wholesale "sell out" of their cultural heritage.

The larger body of sea water lying north east of Loch Ness is the Moray Firth. I take it that the name "Murray Forth" on the image is an error for the Moray Firth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lavateraguy (talkcontribs) 18:36, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Shantipur

Thank you for your reply to my inquiry.

I have been trying to locate the page for a while now. Now I know why I was unable to. I never dreamed that some NON-Bengali would be editing/altering spelling of Bengali names and words. It seems that you managed to delete any reference to "Shantipur" when you merged the file with "santipur" Thus distroying links to historic figures and other related pages. Good going dude.

It seems that you have been editing pages that you have NO expertise or background in. Assumptions were made based on what was left uncertain on a page and turned into fact with absolutely no other information to corroborate. Someone with more intellectual fortitude would have restrained himself in such ego stroking.

My family is descended from the founder of the city. My ancestors links to the page you keep altering willy-nilly, has been disconnected. Please stop altering the information unless you ACTUALLY KNOW something about the subject and that what you are putting down is truthful. I thank you... my ancestors thank you... and readers thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Siemagirl (talkcontribs) 08:06, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
