The Church of England considers itself "catholic and reformed"

[edit]

You removed long standing language that It is the origin of the Anglican tradition, which combines features of both Reformed and Catholic Christian practices. At https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2017-11/the-church-of-england-a-background-note.pdf the CoE document states 5. The Church of England sees itself as both Catholic and Reformed.

Clearly other editors & the Church of England itself would disagree with your edit summary that Removed a controversial interpretation from the opening lines of the article. To say Anglicanism is simply a congruence of Catholicism (and to attach the 'Roman Catholic Church' article) and Reformed tradition is an oversimplification, and a great deal of Anglicans would themselves have trouble with that statement (depending on their churchmanship).

I have reverted your edit. As the WP:BRD essay suggests, it is now time to open up a discussion at Talk:Church of England before attempting your edit again. I would also suggest that you peruse previous discussions on this matter, both on that talk page & on the archives of that talk page. Peaceray (talk) 04:49, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
