Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Giuseppe, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Pino and Peppino. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi

Why did you move this page [1]? Is there some policy that prefers full names even if it isn't common? DareshMohan (talk) 06:50, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

I thought moving it to his full name would make more sense since that's how most pages related to people are anyway, and it's not his pen/stage name (some people are credited with only their first name). If you still don't agree with me, I will move it back (with a redirect), and leave moving pages for fixing spelling errors

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Danners430 (talk) 07:21, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Thanks. I just turned on that preference. OpalYosutebito (talk) 14:37, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Thank you

I just wanted to thank you for all the great work that you are doing in Wikipedia!.Tony the Marine (talk) 02:51, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Yeah you're welcome :D OpalYosutebito (talk) 03:43, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for removing the deprecated border parameter from film infoboxes. Can you also do the same with image_size please? Kailash29792 (talk) 05:16, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
I keep forgetting to do that. Thanks for helping me out too - OpalYosutebito (talk) 14:56, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

Category:Pages using infobox organization with motto or pledge‎

Just curious, are you using AutoWikiBrowser? And if you are, I'd like to help.Naraht (talk) 16:16, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

I just applied for it OpalYosutebito (talk) 16:46, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
You've been doing this by hand? AWB should make it easier and if you would like to work on the query together let me know. Easiest may be one of us starting with organization_motto and pledge to at least get those without getting in the way of the others. (no organization_motto or pledge at this point.)Naraht (talk) 22:08, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
That sounds great. I'll let you know as soon as I get approved for using the bot. I'm also planning on cleaning up Category:Pages using infobox film with unknown parameters - OpalYosutebito (talk) 22:37, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
Some things that you may or may not know. The Sort criteria in the unknown parameter pages are (almost) always done as "bad parameter" followed by the name of the article. The effect of this is that a large group of articles in alphabetical order in one of these categories almost always have the same bad parameter. So for example, in Category:Pages using infobox film with unknown parameters , the first 8 or 9 pages (didn't count) are all in order (except 2 entries) under the letter B so, they all have the same bad entry, which is Border. (one of the others is Box Office). So you search and remove Border. However, it is possible that such a parameter could have the pipe prior to it on the left on the line, or on the right (or theoretically neither, but unlikely) and there could be space before and after. After you get it, I'll send you the combinations of regex that I tend to use. If I get on tonight, I'll try to take out a chunk of the motto/pledge. Let me know what your status is.Naraht (talk) 23:03, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
I think I already knew that, thanks OpalYosutebito (talk) 23:30, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
NP. I was able to do most of "N" and "O" using AWB, but as you can tell, it didn't get *everything* some of them are in a form that trying to make a regex to get them is too complicated, like if all of the infobox is placed on one line (like say cite web is normally done). I'll keep attacking it using AWB when I have a chance. And no, I don't have the ability to approve people in AWB. :(Naraht (talk) 00:20, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
I'm not gonna use the bot for motto and pledge because more often than not I've seen sources in there which could screw things up and get us in trouble if they're removed - OpalYosutebito (talk) 00:22, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Which is why the user needs to look at each one before saving. AWB gives more control than pure Bots do. I'll keep going on motto. Naraht (talk) 00:28, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
I'm going to be busy for the next couple of days due to final exams, but I'll still be available if anything happens - OpalYosutebito (talk) 02:57, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Update: I got approved to use the bot, and I'm doing my best to get stuff done. I'll let you know if things go south - OpalYosutebito (talk) 03:49, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Cool. I'll head to bed soon, but I'm into the Ss, Didn't catch all of them, but we are down to around 700 with what I've done so far.Naraht (talk) 04:07, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Nite. I hope I'm helping out :D OpalYosutebito (talk) 04:08, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Saw your request for AWB access and wanted to reach out with an offer to help if needed. I've long had tackling unknown parameter categories on my list of potential tasks and find them perfect candidates for AWB work, but potentially quite tricky to make regexs which is the part I would be happy to help with. I also noticed that there's a lot of empty bad parameters and I see no reason why those shouldn't be done using a bot which I could seek approval for if you want. --Trialpears (talk) 15:20, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
I haven't been using regexs, but it would still be great if you had a bot to help out too - OpalYosutebito (talk) 15:42, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Trialpears I (naraht, not OpalYosutebito) am using AWB to handle some and I use four different regexes to handle pipe before, pipe after and a couple of other situations as well. I *think* it is handling about 75% of the ones that are motto (the other two parameters that feed into that cat aren't generating any). All of these are in Find and Replace - advanced settings replacements with everything checked. (and all of these are replaced with |)
  • \| *motto *= *[^|]+\n\|
  • \|\n *motto *= *[^|]+\|
  • \|\n *motto *= *\|
  • \| *motto *= *\n\|
Naraht (talk) 16:00, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Nice! I would use something like\|\s*motto\s*=[^|{}]*({{[^}]+}})?[^|}]*. This way it can also deal with parameters containing a template and if the parameter is the last one in the infobox with only one regex. \s means any whitespace character so tabs, spaces and newlines and is probably the most useful character set imo. If you want to know more about what everything means I would recommend regex101.com which explains everything and has a regex debugger.
I also filed a quick BRFA. No idea how long it will take since it was a long time since last time I filed one. Probably between a day and a month. --Trialpears (talk) 16:21, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
Trialpears I know what it means, I just didn't think it was quite safe enough. For example, Philodemic Society has | motto = {{ubl|{{lang|la|Eloquentiam Libertati Devinctam}}|([[Latin]] for "Eloquence in Defense of Liberty")}} and it thinks the end of the entry is in the pipe prior to ([[. I am trying to use what you had though, but expecting them to have issues, and it does appear to be getting some of the rest.Naraht (talk) 03:20, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
You could expand it to \|\s*motto\s*=[^|{}]*({{[^{}]*({{[^{}]*}})?[^{}]*}})?[^|}]* to deal with nested templates. If you need to remove more templates you can always add in options for that as well, the expression just grows and the risk you make mistakes when writing the regex increases. Generally I go back and forth quite a bit between running AWB and improving my replacements since I enjoy that part and it usually makes it faster in the long run. --Trialpears (talk) 05:26, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for all your help! I don't have much patience when it comes to programming/coding with bots, but maybe one day, we'll make a regex script or something that gets rid of those nonexistent/unknown parameters once and for all! - OpalYosutebito (talk) 01:24, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
It seems like you guys have done an incredibly amount of work on these categories. Is approval for bot removal still of interest for other categories or is it kind of moot now? If so I will withdraw the BRFA. Trialpears (talk) 20:46, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
TrialpearsI periodically do these, the question is whether a bot would simply be given an infobox, or an infobox and a bad parameter.Naraht (talk) 00:36, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
I'm thinking it would only remove certain manually specified empty parameters to keep it as simple as possible. If it's common for there being large And I'm not planning on it being run on a schedule, but rather on request. There's no technical reason why it couldn't be run on a schedule removing all empty parameters from a large number of pages, but that would need an explicit consensus to implement. Trialpears (talk) 23:08, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
Since the end goal is to clean up the unknown parameters from the infoboxes...
Here's the method I use to get rid of unknown parameters (for reference: right now I'm working on cleaning up the infobox Russian inhabited locality template calls): Under "Options", I open "Advanced Settings", and I create a new "in Template call" rule under the "Rule" tab. It's important to know that in order for this to work for all pages in the category, you need to need to take redirects into consideration (ex: Infobox Russian village redirects to Infobox Russian inhabited locality, which is what I'm ultimately focused on). I hope my explanation made sense, and I hope this method helps everyone out a bit more - OpalYosutebito (talk) 21:59, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

Nonexistent parameters

The LOGO parameter of the organization template is technically obsolete; it was removed from the template a couple of years ago, so it did exist. Mgrē@sŏn (Talk) 04:35, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

1998 CPSL League Cup

Hi there, just wanted to bring your attention to various errors created by your recent edit of 1998 CPSL League Cup. Your changes broke the infobox and duplicated the first paragraph. No big deal, it's been fixed - mostly I wanted to give you a heads up in case this was the result of a script running amok somehow. If it was just an oversight, no worries. Some parameters exist!

Hello.
I saw some of your edits, checked one(diff) and checked the documentation for the template {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and found out that one of the parameters you are removing "blp=no" exists!
The documentations says the following, among other things: "[..] Set to |blp=no for dead persons. This parameter must be added for biographical articles.".

You might consider removing all unsupported parameters instead of one or two at a time

Re this edit, some unsupported parameters were left behind, so another edit to the article was needed. I have fixed the unsupported parameter check in the relevant infobox template, which may help you. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:13, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

past_member_of

I see you've made several edits such as this one on jazz biographies, replacing associated_acts with past_member_of in Infobox musical artist infoboxes. This and lots of other examples are wrong, as the lists name individuals, not groups or bands. Could you undo such changes, please? Removing the whole entry is probably the best solution. EddieHugh (talk) 10:26, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

Ok. I'll do that ASAP - OpalYosutebito (talk) 12:54, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
Just bringing this up again. You have made this mistake to many, prossibly hundreds, of articles (see [2][3][4][5][6][7]) and have only, as far as I cans see, fixed this on the Tommy Flannagan article. Is there anyway you can automate a revert on all of these edits as it will take a long time to clean this up manually. Vladimir.copic (talk) 01:52, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
Ok. I'll do whatever I can to fix this mistake - OpalYosutebito (talk) 02:08, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

Anthony Burger

I see you removed an associated act for Anthony Burger here. Not only did he perform and record with the group, but it was also his first his first professional recording, at age 12. I added a cite to hold over but I will find cites to include that tidbit. Maybe Chattanooga Cadek Conservatory of Music has archives. I doubt this will be enough (Album Cover) Album link to satisfy cite requirements because Discogs is user generated. ASCAP or BMI may have a record of the recording in their database. Happy editing P37307 (talk) 02:42, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the source! I barely saw any info on the page regarding the Celestials, and it was worded to make it sound like he merely collaborated with the band instead of being an actual member/player - OpalYosutebito (talk) 03:36, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
You're welcome. It is worded weird. I'll put this page on my list to find cites, etc. In that album cover photo I included above, he is the one in the whitish suit. I really hope I can find an official source, other than that album cover at Discogs, to show he was only 12-years old. Happy editing! P37307 (talk) 03:55, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

Agency parameter

I have reverted this edit of yours. |agency= is a proper parameter for {{Cite web}} and {{Cite news}}. If I have missed something, please let me know. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:53, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

I just noticed you are making these edits en masse. You need to stop immediately. I'll give you a few minutes before I block you to stop the editing. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:55, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
I have temporarily removed your permission for AWB until this is figured out. Please respond here asap and justify the edits you are making. It appears to be thousands over the last few days and there is no way to go through each one to determine if you are removing parameters that are actually appropriate. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:03, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
For the edit you reverted, I found an error in one of the citations. The error I'm referring to is here. For all of these pages that I edited, I saw reference errors that said {{cite magazine}}: Empty citation (help): Unknown parameter |agency= ignored (help)
I hope this explains my reasoning. I'll try to be more careful - OpalYosutebito (talk) 15:04, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
Yet you removed all of the agency parameters, even valid ones in that edit. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:06, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
Also, looking at a few more of your edits, it appears that these shouldn't just be deleted, they should be fixed. You are removing good reference information that just isn't using the appropriate parameter. The point of the warning is to fix the issue, not just delete it without reviewing it. You made 16 edits in one minute! You aren't reviewing anything you are editing. You are responsible for the edits you make. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:09, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

I've noticed that when the contents of the agency field is a piped link, AWB only gets part, ie "|agency=AFP" results in "|AFP]]" [8] being left behind, so they appear in Category:CS1 errors: unrecognized parameter.--Auric talk 15:17, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

I don't have the time to continue to dive into this issue. I have left a notice at WP:AN#Some Help with Bot-Like Editing to get some additional input. Please move the discussion there. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:26, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
okay. I'm fixing the errors I left behind. - OpalYosutebito (talk) 15:27, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

Agency parameter in CS

Hi, it is regarding edits like this. The 'agency' is an 'unknown parameter' only when used with 'cite magazine'. It works fine when used to 'cite news' and others. Please, change 'agency' to 'last' in relevant cases only instead of removing it all together. See this for example, works fine. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:46, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

I'm working on changing all of the "cite magazine" templates from my previous edits to "cite news" right now. Thanks for the example! - OpalYosutebito (talk) 15:48, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
Don't need to change those not showing any CS error. India Today and Outlook for example are magazines. Previously the 'agency' parm would work fine, but apparently the code was changed recently. I do "agency→last" wherever this new CS error pops up. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:56, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
This does not fix the problem with this editing. The purpose of the CS error is not to just delete it so it goes away. It should be fixed. An example would be this edit where Opal just deleted the parameter, yet the correct outcome would be to replace {{Citation}} with {{Cite web}}. This mindless "clean-up" of maintenance templates (averaging 12 edits a minute) is detrimental to the project and runs counter to the purpose of maintenance categories. This is blockable behavior for operating AWB like a bot without bot approval. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:43, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
it's also an unknown parameter in "cite book", "cite report", "cite web", etc, so the only way to get rid of the error message and keep the agency parameter is to use "cite news" instead, which I'm working on right now - OpalYosutebito (talk) 17:05, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:Kim Jong-suk politician photo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Kim Jong-suk politician photo.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. With Regards to Cyrax

Thank you for your help, but I feel the need to bring this up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've learned while fixing Cyrax's info, Niger and Nigeria are separate countries, Cyrax's bio says she's from Niger, and the spelling for people from those countries is way too similar. According to google, people from Niger are called "Nigeriens" while people from Nigeria are "Nigerians". I changed Cyrax's info back, but if you or know someone who knows the correct words for this, please feel free to change it accordingly. OilSlick96 (talk) 06:19, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

Oh. Sorry, I forgot about that. I had kind of a brain fart, I guess - OpalYosutebito (talk) 12:25, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Frank Fowler Loomis, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York.

Greek railway stations

Greek railway stations use |years= and |events= for opening dates, similar to how it is done with British stations such as Southall. Their appearance in Pages with no open date in Infobox station is not always an error. --Minoa (talk) 15:35, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
