Hi Omni Flames, I have recently seen a large amount of vandalism on this website, and I was wondering whether you wanted another student. If you could help me I would be very grateful. I have been on Wikipedia for over a year now, so I think I have enough experience. Thanks Qaei — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qaei (talk • contribs) 11:09, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi there Qaei. We generally prefer that users have sufficient experience editing article space before enrolling in the CVUA. Most of your edits appear to be to your own userspace, so I'm not sure whether you're ready for this program yet. Perhaps you could try adoption? MxGPU draft article rejection
Hello,
First draft of article was rejected for sounding too much like an ad. Those issues were fixed, and it was rejected again for various reasons. Those second-round issues were also resolved... and how we are back to "reading like an advertisement."
May I please ask for specific feedback on all of the issues you noticed so that I can resolve them and get this fixed? Also, could you please explain how my draft "reads like an ad' when articles such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce have passed muster?
Thanks!
76.126.140.238 (talk) 14:58, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi there. I declined the draft because a large number of the terms used in the article seemed promotional. Take for example, the final paragraph of the history section. It seems to be written more like an ad than a paragraph in an encyclopedia. Hopefully that clears things up. Omni Flames let's talk about it 06:52, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for your response. Taking the specific paragraph you mention, I am at a complete loss to explain how...
"The advent of the GPU made fast, complex, and accurate graphical rendering available to a broad range of users from game designers to engineers and consumers by freeing the CPU to process non-graphical computations. This in turn drove ongoing demand for ever greater performance, as everything from highly-specialized design and engineering applications to games and general productivity suites such as Microsoft® Office® began leveraging the GPU to deliver richer experiences. Today, GPUs are an essential component of every desktop, laptop, and mobile device with a GUI."
... is "promotional" and worthy of rejection for describing the technological realities that drove adoption of GPUs while not mentioning any brand names, while the following paragraph from the published GeForce article (which describes a single family of chips manufactured by NVIDIA) is acceptable for publication:
"In the following months, Nvidia released the GTX 660 Ti based on a further cut-down GK104 core, the GTX 660 and 650 Ti, based on the GK106 core, and the GTX 650 and GT 640, based on the GK107 core. In February 2013, eleven months after the launch of the 600 series, Nvidia announced a new card based on the GK110 core branded as the GeForce GTX TITAN, named for the Titan supercomputer in which the cores were initially used. With 2688 CUDA cores, it easily outperformed the previous top-end cards, the 1536-core GTX 680 and 2048-core Radeon HD 7970, by 60-70% on average, nearly rivaling the performance of two GTX 680 cores working together. It was equipped with 6GB of memory, twice as much as the Radeon HD 7970 and three times as much as the GTX 680. The TITAN also retained the full double-precision capabilities of the Kepler architecture, which are typically crippled on GeForce cards and only left untouched for Quadro and Tesla cards. It was paired with an advanced cooler that was both quiet and effective in cooling the card, despite the high power consumption of the GK110 core."
If you are going to reject my paragraph--which does not mention any manufacturer names or tout any one chip or family above any others--then by rights, the second paragraph--which explicitly touts the benefits of NVIDIA products over AMD--should also be rejected. Conversely, since the second paragraph was accepted for publication, then the first should also be accepted, by those same standards.
Further, my article includes far more third-party links and far fewer internal AMD links than the GeForce article.
Please understand that I am not trying to be difficult... simply trying to understand the seeming discrepancy in standards applied. I am sure that some looking would reveal far more examples of the same.
— Preceding unsigned comment added by Nosfiratu (talk • contribs) 07:28, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Nosfiratu: I agree, the paragraph in that other article is promotional as well. As such, I've removed it. Anyway, I feel that some of the words in that paragraph were promotional. Take for example, the phrase "fast, complex, and accurate". Those kinds of terms are what we call peacock words.
And, no, you're not being difficult . I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. Omni Flames let's talk about it 08:04, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Flat wiki page
Hello!
My name is Alecia Fernandez, I am a student at Seattle Central Community College in Washington, USA. I noticed recently you have rejected the Flat (unit of measurement) page I am working on, due to the fact it did not have any sources on it at the time. I am writing to let you know that this is an extra credit project for my Culinary Math class, and we thought that it was private. Really we're just playing around on here while we research more extensively, trying to figure out how all this works since most of us are first time editors. You can find and message my teacher for more information if you wish, his user name is cdenzler, but for the time being until we get more used to the wikipedia format and such, we would appreciate if you just let us work undisturbed.
That being said I understand sources are important, and I have added some, and resubmitted them for review.
Thank you for your time,

50.132.56.182 (talk) 00:33, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hello there Alecia. Welcome to Wikipedia! The reason why I declined the draft is because, as you said, it had no sources. If you only plan to work on the draft for the assignment, and not submit it for review, then there is no problem with it having no sources. However, by submitting your draft, you're basically asking for it to be moved to "article" space, where all encyclopedia articles are kept. We have certain standards for an article before moving it to mainspace, which is why I had to decline your draft. You may also want to read WP:FIRSTARTICLE for some assistance, or you could ask me.
- If your teacher happens to have any more questions or is confused, by all means, let them know that they are welcome to email me here.

Hi there we wanted to introduce a article by the name of Hindu religion which contains some questions which need to be addressed but since Hindu religion is always being redirected to Hinduism so i wanted to prevent it.Please help — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rvs.iitb (talk • contribs) 08:13, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Rvs.iitb: Hi there. If you want to make an article I suggest you first create a draft, and submit it to WP:AFC. In the future, it would be best if you didn't blank articles without an edit summary like that, it can be seen as vandalism. Omni Flames let's talk about it 08:18, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- Rvs.iitb, anything you have to say on the subject of "Hindu religion" should be added to the Hindusim article. Why do you feel the need for a separate article? Please reply. If you do not feel confident about editing the article directly, propose your changes at talk:Hinduism. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:50, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
15:13:49, 18 May 2016 review of submission by Moriaed
Hi, I dont understand why the article was declined... There are many cites and links from reliable sources and clrearly she deserves a wiki. Please review this once again. Thanks Moriaed (talk) 15:13, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Moriaed: I apologize for the poor reason I gave for declining the draft. Looks like you've fixed the links now, so don't worry about that. What the draft still needs, however, is some additional sourcing. The article appears to be about a living person. We have a very strict policy on living people, see WP:BLP. The main problem is the "biography" section. It's completely unsourced. Wikipedia requires citations to reliable sources so that content can be verified. Once you've added some more sources to that section, feel free to resubmit, I'd be happy to review it again. Omni Flames let's talk about it 06:56, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Omni Flames, I have fixed and added 2 more sources on her degrees. Also, please note there are more links. Thank you Moriaed (talk) 20:38, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
Can we talk about Huggle?
I’m reaching out to you because our logs tell us you’re a highly active Huggle user (top 20, actually). The Wikimedia Collaboration Team is researching a project that we hope will be useful to people who use Huggle and others engaged in edit-review and anti-vandalism. Using artificial intelligence programming (in ORES) and other means, we believe we can create feeds of Recent Changes that are better tailored to the type of work you do, helping you to be more effective and efficient. (The technology will have other benefits as well, which we can talk about.)
We're in the early stages of planning this and want to speak with people like yourself to better understand your work, goals and issues. If you’re interested in helping, I’d like to set up a time to meet by video conference, so that you can explain and demonstrate (via screensharing) some of your workflows, and we can ask and answer any questions.
To participate, please email the following information to me, jmatazzoniwikimedia.org, or send it to designresearchwikimedia.org:

Online ambassadors
Hi there,
I saw your application at WP:ENB. The online ambassador program has been sort of moribund for the last couple years. It still very much exists, but there's a serious dearth of leadership/organization, initiative, and activity in general. That's partly due to the fact that since the start of the program the Wiki Education Foundation has grown as a non-profit and hired paid staff to do much of the work ambassadors had done. All that said, there's been some discussion relatively recently about resurrecting the program with a somewhat different scope. I'd encourage you to take a look/join the discussion here: User talk:Tokyogirl79/Wikipedia:WikiProject Online Ambassadors. Like so many projects on Wikipedia, it was going strong for a little while, then ran out of steam again. I think what it needs is just a critical mass of interested people to prevent the conversation from petering out. It looks like you're a relatively new but highly active editor. That fresh perspective and energy could be really useful if you wanted to help. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 15:20, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

I haven't removed any templates from the page. My reasons were that there weren't any sources for the some claims on the page, only self-advocacy and one subjective blogpost. Single blog essays aren't suitable sources for Wikipedia, if they are itself absolutely unfounded.

14:09:57, 26 May 2016 review of submission by RSquier
I do not see how the page reads like an advertisement. I have presented only facts, and used most of my information from credible third party news sources. While the brief summary of TPUSA's goals, and the biography of the founder are from a page by TPUSA, the rest are from other news sources. I ask either for input on how to make it sound less like an advertisement, or a re-review.

Sourcing evaluation
Hello Omniflames.
I have some questions concerning your last message paired with the rejection of my draft for 'Nekkeveld Estate'. We have provided three (in my opinion) reliable sources such as Dutch prominent newspapers (Telegraaf, Algemeen Dagblad) and an article on the website of a governmental institution. What could possibly be wrong with the notability of these sources?
Also, the omission of linking to a Dutch wiki page as source has been corrected.
With kind regards, Douwe Veldhuizen.
- Hi Uwactieve. The sources you've added are good, but there are simply not enough of them to show notability. Hopefully that helps! Omni Flames let's talk about it 22:38, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
Best Omni Flames. Please be invited to reconsider declining, for which I've pressed the resubmit button. As you will agree quality is more than quantity. The sources provided are prominent en effective in this part of Europe. Wish Douwe Veldhuizen could show you around like in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yKUrGYZ3d0 from the local RTV Bunschoten. (Be welcome!). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uwactieve (talk • contribs) 11:15, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
