Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Omar al raisi. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. A tag has been placed on User:OmarAlRaisi, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --OmarAlRaisi (talk) 22:33, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I do not undersstand why this page is tagged to be deleted? I see similar pages for journalists on Wikipedia, which are not deleted? Could you advice why other journalists pages are left on Wikipedia but mine is deleted?

Here is one example - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elie_Seckbach

I am a public figure, a professional sports writer / journalist. And i deserve for my article to be on Wikipedia. The references are in the article which you are about to delete (which makes no sense, because there are thousands of similar articles on Wikipedia)

@OmarAlRaisi: Hi and Welcome to Wikipedia. The page has been tagged with speedy WP:G11 because the article is unambiguously promotional in nature. See our Wikipedia:Neutral point of view policy. And it has been tagged under other criteria WP:A7 because the article does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject, see WP:BLP. And moreover the sources cited are the articles written by the author but not discussing the author in detail, which may not be considered as independent sources, see WP:Sources.
And as far as article Elie Seckbach is considered, I will check the content and sources, and if found not in accordance to the Wikipedia policy and guidelines, then will initiate the WP:Afd process. Thanks (PS-since the article may get deleted, so posting here too for your convenience.) Peppy Paneer (talk) 22:57, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add some other comments regarding your statement of "i deserve for my article to be on Wikipedia". The reason we don't like Wikipedia articles to be written by the article's subject is precisely for this reason. No one can be a good judge of their own notability. Invariably there is a self-serving bias that is the prime motivation for wanting an article about yourself, which hinders your ability to write it from a neutral point of view, using only published information without original research.
Keep in mind that an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. Both positive and negative information about you, if properly sourced and written with the proper balance, is fair game for Wikipedia. And, once an article about you is created and accepted, you have no right to control its content.
You should review the following pages while pursuing of an article about yourself. They should give you pause to reconsider:
