Not a Vandal - Do not be too quick to template for vandalism

You gave User: Jennifer j c thompson a Level 4 warning for vandalism. She is not a vandal. Her edit to Federation of Democrats (South Africa) was not vandalism. She is an extremely new editor who doesn't know the difference between article space and talk pages, and doesn't know the rules about using talk pages as forums. (The fact that her previous edit to the same page was flagged as vandalism is understandable, because it was flagged by a bot, but you are not a bot.) She made an inappropriate edit, but it was not vandalism, because it was not made in bad faith, just clueless good faith. It did need reverting, but with some other sort of template or caution than Level 4 vandalism. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:47, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Help request

Hi I looked at the CCI case here that you asked for help with. I'm new to this - can you explain

  • What does the Big Red Cross mean after someone has looked at one of your articles?
  • Various people have helped but this hasn't included you. Is this not allowed?
  • More trivially I looked an article on soup (Pate acha) that was very small and had two references. However the references did not support the fact that was mentioned. Were these both mistakes? Victuallers (talk) 10:02, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Olamide David

Hi, The article which is linked to his death says he died on sunday (which was January 17th). I don't understand what was "Original research" about that. I just wanted to correct his death date since the Wiki page states that he died on January 18th http://naijagists.com/olamide-david-is-dead-2015-nollywood-best-child-actor-dies-after-attack-on-football-field/ http://www.thenet.ng/2016/01/14-year-old-nollywood-actor-olamide-david-dies/

Test?

I added some information that I found for the Australian version of the Impreza RV. Im not sure what your message meant regarding a test. I also have a pic that I would like to add regarding this but I'm not sure if I can do this via a photobucket link or an administrator needs to add it. Djorbenadze / Wedding Palace

Hi there - sorry, am a new editor! I just wanted to let you know about my edits to the Victor Djorbenadze and Tbilisi Wedding Palace pages. Some of the content included is original research from an unpublished dissertation out of Columbia University. The author has not yet issued permission to put her research up online, as she is still translating source material. I took down everything that could not be cited with certainty until the dissertation is complete. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sololackey (talkcontribs) 16:29, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Ofala Festival

Hi, I noticed that your post on this subject relies on innacurate historical facts. Ofala was introduced in Igbo land by Onitsha people over 600 years ago. Before Onitsha, Igbos east of the Niger did not have kings, they were mostly administered through a system of village elders and could therefore not have had ofala, a celebration associated with a king's coronation. Kingship in Nnewi and many other Igbo towns began in the 19th century hundreds of years after Onitsha so it cannot be called Ofala Nnewi. I know you probably mean well to contribute to the body of knowledge but you need to get the facts right. I will refer you to Harding's Report, on the Eastern Nigeria Administrative Inquiry into Onitsha Kingship tussle. Also do a search on Amazon for Professor Richard Henderson's "The King in EveryMan" and see http://www.nico.gov.ng/index.php/joomla-stuff-2/list-all-categories/37-cultural-events/970-ofala-festival. These, among a few sources, can give you a more accurate view of the history of Kingship in Onitsha and perhaps a little more on the Ofala celebration. Thank You. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ndi'onicha (talkcontribs) 11:09, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Re:Ofala Festival

Dear OluwaCurtis, Take a close look at my earlier message here. It refers you to authoritative sources on this subject. Professor Henderson did extensive anthropological research relating to this subject and remains a foremost authority on the subject of Onitsha. Your sources seem to be ill researched newspaper articles which themselves cite no authority. Read "The King in EveryMan". The entire article has used DMY dates for a long while now, what's your reason for the changes? It would be helpful if you can state a specific reason why you want to change a longstanding appropriate format to your own. Lagos to Kampala single

Greetings Oluwa2Chainz, I appreciate your latest effort. The single fails WP:GNG and WP:NSONG. The song has not been discussed in significant detail and the references currently cited do not show significance. Africa Charts is not a national or significant music chart, as it is not IFPI affiliate and does not use the support of Nielsen SoundScan. Moreover, no one has written an extensive review of the single. If this song gets a nomination at either the upcoming Nigeria Entertainment Awards and/or The Headies, it will meet criteria 2 of WP:NSONG. As of right now, the page needs to be redirected to the album article per WP:NSONG. Versace1608 (Talk)

Seth Irunsewe Kale

I understand you want to go by the book here. Here's the thing, I've researched Bishop Kale for years and you won't find any books or online newspaper clippings that document his death. If he were alive today he'd be 112 years old, very unlikely. He retired in the 70 sand his Facebook memorial page [1] shows that he died in 1994. There's a dearth of information in Nigeria where things are underreported. In this instance I say you go with the spirit of the law and not the letter of the law.

Biafra Subject

Curtis, we have been through the Biafra issue severally. You want to stick to the British lie that Biafra was created by Ojukwu and I still do not understand what you grouse with Biafra is? Here in the history of the presbyterian church of Nigeria, you can see that as at 1858, they have a presbytery of Biafra headquartered in Calabar - http://www.presbyterianchurchng.com/DynamicPage.aspx?pageid=21 Captain Burton was the British consul to the Bight of Biafra and the reference is Burton, Richard Francis. A mission to Gelele, King of Dahome: with notices of the so called" Amazons," the grand customs, the yearly customs, the human sacrifices, the present state of the slave trade, and the Negro's place in nature. Biafra is captured here at Hutchinson, Th J.
