A tag has been placed on Kwansaba, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 15:10, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- A topic is generally considered "notable" under Wikipedia's guidelines if it has received significant coverage from multiple independent, reliable secondary sources. Topics that do not meet these guidelines are subject to deletion, and articles that do not even make a real claim of notability are subject to speedy deletion, as this one was.
- Not being an administrator, I can't speak for them in general or the one who actually deleted the article in particular, but that admin apparently agreed with my assessment. The hangon tag doesn't guarantee that the article won't get deleted quickly, but it does guarantee a closer look from the admins before doing so. The fact that it was speedily deleted does not preclude its recreation, but if you do decide to create it again, have those references ready. Judging by the number of Google hits, this form isn't terribly widespread yet, but Google hits matter little if you can provide proper sourcing.
- I hope this helps. The welcome message I have added above provides many more links to policies and guidelines, and I'll happily answer any further questions you have. Thanks, and take care. --Finngall talk 16:41, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've put the article in your user space at User:Ogre Art/Kwansaba for you to work on and improve, following Fingall's good advice. Let me know when you are finished and I will take a look and help you move it back. --Steve (Stephen) talk 00:59, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
