If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Oasis Book Project, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 12:44, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What is your connection to the Oasis Book Project? Are you abandoning efforts to edit about it? Can you be more specific about what edits you intend to make instead? (such as what articles or topic areas) 331dot (talk) 13:59, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Oasis Book Project is in my country. I am a student and aspiring writer. I would like to document publishing houses, authors and other literary figures in the country, because there is little representation on Wikipedia. I intend to make more research on publishing on Wikipedia, read the publishing guidelines in depth, and continue efforts to edit the articles, ensuring they are not promotional. This is my first article and I apologize for breaking the username guideline. ~~ Oasisbp (talk) 14:15, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You need to acknowledge that the tone of your article was promotional. For example "vision is to create a future for Uganda where every child can become an adept reader. They are working diligently towards this vision by publishing easy-to-understand local stories that native kids can relate to and enjoy. In addition to this, they are committed to providing local schools and parents with books of high literary and artistic standards. Another integral part of their mission is to offer training for individuals involved in child education and to enhance the quality of children's books by supporting local authors". I would be a lot more comfortable in unblocking you if you committed to not editing Oasis Book Project again. PhilKnight (talk) 18:17, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I understand that my article came off as promotional, and I now hold a greater appreciation for the guidelines. This was not my intention, and I was still in the midst of editing the article. I will refrain from continuing on Oasis Book Project, and will be more careful when I decide to write future articles, and make any edits on other articles. Thank you for your time.
