Sikhi or Sikhi(sm)
Hi i noticed you changed the name of the religion of Sikhs beloning to Sikkhi to Sikhism. This because the religion is known to english speakers that way. Isn't that a strange way to aproach? You can call water, pani or agua, its still the same thing. But yes we Sikhs te followers of this faith call it sikhi, and it is different to sikhism which is a construction. I don't see how we should change every religion by putting an Ism behind it wil make English people understand it even better. Isn't this we have wikipedia for? Desibhagera (talk) 11:10, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
- Desibhagera, I appreciate what you are saying, but we do have a policy about article titles,
Wikipedia prefers the name that is most commonly used
(in the English language, as this is the English-language Wikipedia). You can read the relevant section of this policy here. You may well be right that the majority of Sikhs know the faith as "Sikkhi"; but the majority of English speakers know it as "Sikhism" and that is the term found in English dictionaries and books. You see, in Wikipedia we don't use the same term for Moscow or Bangkok as most people who live there; we don't use the same term for Communist Party of China as most of those who are governed by it; we do try to use the term that most of our readers will be familiar with. So the same goes for Sikhism, also Judaism, Buddhism or Hinduism. This won't change unless the language changes, as with Islam which has become a well-known word in English. I hope this is sufficient explanation. With regards: Noyster (talk), 15:31, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

I posted TRUTH in review section which was already present There, AND by the way is Speaking truth is defamation? please reply — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tikonacheat123 (talk • contribs) 10:30, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Tikonacheat123, as you are new to Wikipedia it needs to be explained that Wikipedia's policy is to only include information that is verifiable, as well as true. Verifiable here requires that the facts have already been published in "reliable sources", and are cited to those sources in our articles. So unless your claims can be supported in this way, I'm afraid they cannot be added to Wikipedia. I recommend that you find other ways to pursue your grievance: Noyster (talk), 11:42, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification. However I do not appreciate the tone in any way.Blethering Scot 19:47, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- My apologies BS if there was anything objectionable here. I assure you it was only meant as a straightforward request. I once started an article on Brian Colvin (referee) as he is so often redlinked: but it seems an article would not be accepted as "notable" at least without his being a FIFA Tier 1 international ref, and not as a past player or manager either: Noyster (talk), 12:32, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

NPP
Hi. I don't want to sound rude, because if I'm not mistaken, you are someone of my own generation, but don't you think it woud be perhaps more appropriate if you were to actually do some patrolling yourself rather than just sifting through the pages and making unilsteral changes without any discussion to a project some of us have spent 100s, perhaps 1,000s of hours getting together and developing its software over the years? Regards, --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:35, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Kudpung: Yes. Well. I was preparing myself to do that very thing - do some new page patrolling - and going through the reading list, as recommended, I happened to spot a few issues that perhaps only a fresh pair of eyes would spot. Following the "New Page Patrollers" link, expecting to see a current list, I found it was dated 2011. Yes, I took the list to MfD (a discussion page), but now that the list has been updated I have withdrawn that nomination and re-worded the link (my only "unilateral" change) to better reflect what will be seen if followed. My only other contributions relating to these pages have been suggestions [1], [2] on talk pages. These proposals were intended for the benefit of subsequent new patrollers. With all respect to your central role in this project, from which I hope to benefit in future patrolling work, I reject your description of my activities: Noyster (talk), 15:19, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- That's not quite accurate, is it? There was also the tag on the NPP school which was created in readiness for the next step that is to come shortly. Things move excruciatingly slowly on Wikipedia, but they do move. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:27, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- The "historical" tag you mention was placed in February by another editor. Yes, true, on that basis I did remove the link to it on the NPP page: Noyster (talk), 15:36, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

- @Ras Benjih:You can only learn about Wikipedia by editing as well as by reading the guidance, including the pages I linked on your talk page. This will take time and some of your edits will probably get reverted - this happens to all of us and it's part of the learning process, but please go carefully from now on, so as not to accidentally damage articles or other people's user pages. If you want to change something in an article but you are not sure how to go about it, you can try things out in a sandbox, and you are always welcome to ask for help. Oh, and please sign your posts to talk pages with the four tildes (~~~~), that way the correct date will be shown, like this: Noyster (talk), 11:48, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

- Let me know when you think your article is ready, if you would like me to look it over. An article about Paseka Sekese should be OK as you say he is a professional top-league footballer, but it will need up-to-date references about his current career. Please see about removing the "08:44, 31 Jul" from your signature as this is misleading: Noyster (talk), 16:51, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

LGV Perpignan–Figueres vs LGV Perpignan–Barcelona
Hi, I just noticed: Noyster moved page LGV Perpignan–Figueres to LGV Perpignan–Barcelona: The high-speed service has now been extended to Barcelona. I am afraid it is the opposite. The LAV line was extended from Barcelona to Figueres, while the LGV Perpignan–Figueres remains a separate entity, in terms of ownership and management (and keeps the LGV prefix, which is French, rather than LAV which works both in Catalan and in Castillian).
- Thank you for drawing my attention to this. I have replied to your similar post at Talk:LGV Perpignan–Barcelona. Shouldn't it be "Megustanlastrufas?: Noyster (talk), 10:08, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Request for endorsement
I don't know if you are aware of the meta:2015_Community_Wishlist_Survey. I only found out about it recently, and I have submitted a proposal "Tell prospective users what Wikipedia is not for" - currently 8.19 in the table. The rules are that, in order to be considered in the voting phase, a proposal needs at least one endorsement before the proposal phase finishes tomorrow. When I said something like this at WT:UN some time back, you +1d it; may I canvass you to endorse the proposal, so that it survives into the voting phase? Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:46, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
- @JohnCD: I did, you may and I have. Thank you for the pointer, I'll make sure to vote and wish the proposal success: Noyster (talk), 18:12, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
