Rollback granted
Hi XboxGamer22408. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Swarm ♠ 20:00, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Volyn massacre
Hello XboxGamer22408, thank you for your message. I wanted to ask you about certain statements in the Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia: Difference between revisions article. It seems to me, and it is only my opinion, but I believe it to be honest and informed opinion, that majority of the text in this article reflects the views that were mainly constructed by USSR government in order to pursue their own goals and does not replect the historical opinions of both polish and ukrainian historians. I believe that all theories and ideas have the rights to be presented in this article and not only one, or if it remains to be the only one presented there, it is simply another theory and I believe it should be stated as theory and not as a historical fact.

Hello there, I was wondering if you could train me on counter-vandalism, as I saw that you had open student slots over at Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit/Academy. I've been editing for a few months now, and been reverting vandalism for a while, but I'm not quite certain that my fundamentals are as in-shape as they should be, and that my understanding of the process is as strong as it should be. If you could mentor me, I'd greatly appreciate it. --Kostas20142 (talk) 12:34, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted
Hello XboxGamer22408. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
- URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog (around 18,000 pages) down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
- Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
- Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
- Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Lord Roem ~ (talk) 23:06, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4
Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 804 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!
But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.
Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

Administrators' newsletter – June 2017
News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2017).
- Doug Bell • Dennis Brown • Clpo13 • ONUnicorn
- ThaddeusB • Yandman • Bjarki S • OldakQuill • Shyam • Jondel • Worm That Turned
- An RfC proposing an off-wiki LTA database has been closed. The proposal was broadly supported, with further discussion required regarding what to do with the existing LTA database and defining access requirements. Such a tool/database formed part of the Community health initiative's successful grant proposal.
- Some clarifications have been made to the community banning and unblocking policies that effectively sync them with current practice. Specifically, the community has reached a consensus that when blocking a user at WP:AN or WP:ANI, it is considered a "community sanction", and administrators cannot unblock unilaterally if the user has not successfully appealed the sanction to the community.
- An RfC regarding the bot policy has closed with changes to the section describing restrictions on cosmetic changes.
- Users will soon be able to blacklist specific users from sending them notifications.
- Following the 2017 elections, the new members of the Board of Trustees include Raystorm, Pundit and Doc James. They will serve three-year terms.

Contesting speedy deletion of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Minz_(musician)
This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... article is relevant, important, and content is verifable. Reason's why the page should be further reviewed include:
- By simply just searching "Minz" on any search engine, the search results is dominated by the artiste - Minz.
- Search engine suggests for "Minz" include discography of the artiste, they are "minz talk", "minz aunty patricia"
- The artiste also has significant presence in his country of origin. Please reconsider the speedy deletion. The largest music blogs and websites in artiste's country of origin has written extensive articles on artiste, below are some among many others:

--Joe-99 (talk) 20:32, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Joe-99. While I appreciate your concerns, the article was previously deleted last year for failing notability guidelines, including WP:NMUSIC. Also, when I did a Google search on this artist, I could only find a Twitter, and some YouTube videos, which both have less than 10,000 views. I dug deeper into YouTube and found two more videos, with around 50,000 views each. However, social media presence doesn't count. Social media doesn't indicate notability, and I couldn't find any record of his songs charting. I appreciate your enthusiasm, however, I don't think this can be saved from deletion. For the record, I am NOT a Wikipedia administrator, and it is up to the deleting admin to choose whether or not the article will be deleted. –XboxGamer22408talk 21:11, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Hello. Hope you're doing well. Just wanted to quickly check, why did you relist Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Denver Manderson, when consensus is clear that the article should be deleted? Thanks. Lourdes 02:41, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- I'm still kind of new to this, and getting the hang of it. Taking a closer look at the AFD discussion, consensus does show that it should be deleted. Sorry about that! –XboxGamer22408talk 02:47, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Some wikis have the larger and brighter OOjs UI edit page buttons. When you write an edit summary there you can now see how many bytes you have left before the summary is too long. [2]
- When you search on Wikipedia you can now find pages on other Wikimedia projects that could be relevant. You see them next to the search results. [3]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 13 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 14 June. It will be on all wikis from 15 June (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 13 June at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- You will soon be able to get a notification when someone tries to log in to your account. You can test this on the test wiki. This will only work if they fail to log in to your account. [4]
- Wikimedia wikis use OCG to create PDFs. The OCG code has a lot of problems and will stop working. It has to be replaced. An alternative is Electron. You can tell the developers what you need the PDF service to be able to do. Electron now works on all Wikimedia projects. [5]
- Administrators can soon search for deleted page titles and find results that are similar to what they searched for. Today the search only finds pages that are exactly the same as what you search for. This is to make it easier to find pages when you don't know the exact title. Administrators on Arabic, Catalan, English, Persian, German, Italian, Polish, and Russian Wikipedia and on mediawiki.org can test this by adding
&fuzzy=1
to the end of the web address when looking at Special:Undelete. [6][7]

Hello, please forgive me for what I am about to write. I have noticed you have changed your username and signature to a similar version to that of an existing user, Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi. Whilst I have no problems over your username, the signature conventions cite; under WP:SIGFORGE: Altering the markup code of your signature to make it look substantially like another user's signature may ... be considered a form of impersonation. Relisting...
Hi, Swampert, thanks for your work on AFDs. But please avoid relisting scarce discussions only for the sake of a nmore broader participation--in cases where the outcome is crystal-clear.Leave that to an admin! But you may relist even in such cases, where there is nil participation. Also, I have reverted your relisting at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ohio University 2017 Student Protest. This has been sought to be speedied under a very objective criterion. Thanks!Winged Blades Godric 04:51, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Winged Blades of Godric:OK, sorry about that. What about if an article has only one keep or delete vote? Should I leave it or relist it? Thanks SophisticatedSwampert let's talk about that 04:54, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- There is no hard and fast rule.If there is one delete;I gen. leave it, unless it looks like there could be genuine arguments from keep side. And if there is one keep--I usually relist it!Again, I would like to emphasise, that basically it's a hazy discretionary zone but I feel, the process works best this way! Thanks!Winged Blades Godric 05:52, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- This is another one,I would have not relisted.I would have closed it as
keep with strong consensus to merge to this target which may be discussed at talk.
I too initially thought of relisting as a device to break a tie but learnt later that it is unwise to use them when the discussion has been clearly enough!Winged Blades Godric 08:50, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
Hello, Swampert. I see that you've given the above-named deletion discussion its fourth re-listing, despite the fact that there was no additional participation since its second re-listing. Under the guidance set forth in WP:RELIST, you should have provided a brief explanation as to why you considered the discussion thus far to have been insufficient. Would you please go back to the deletion discussion and add that explanation? Thanks. NewYorkActuary (talk) 06:26, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
Hello again, Swampert. I see that you've removed the re-listing notice from the discussion. And yet, the discussion continues to appear on the list of discussions for June 30, instead of the list of discussions for June 22 (which is where it was located prior to your re-listing). This means that the discussion effectively remains re-listed, but without a notice declaring who did it and why. Was this an oversight? NewYorkActuary (talk) 14:35, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @NewYorkActuary:, is there a way I can unlist it from the list of discussions for June 30, without removing new discussions? I would've just reverted my edits, but that won't work because it would revert everyone else who edited after me. SophisticatedSwampert let's talk about that 17:55, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @NewYorkActuary:, should I revert back to my prior edit with the notice intact? Thanks SophisticatedSwampert let's talk about that 17:59, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
If you truly intended to undo the re-listing, then the item's entry needs to be manually removed from WP:Articles for deletion/Log/2017 June 30 and then manually added back into WP:Articles for deletion/Log/2017 June 22. The item, of course, can be found by opening the edit window at the June 30 page and searching for "Hood". You can then copy/paste it into the June 22 page (after which you can delete it from the June 30 page). NewYorkActuary (talk) 18:19, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- @NewYorkActuary: Done
- I've moved the AfD discussion back to the archive, however you may want to check and make sure I did it correctly. SophisticatedSwampert let's talk about that 18:36, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

I'm curious why this wasn't G11 tagged as it's clear promotionalism? Maintenance tagging is not an equivalent if it's so blatant, a fundamental rewrite would be needed. - There was a problem with maps on Wikimedia wikis that used <mapframe> when you clicked on the link to another map service. Open Street Map or Google Maps are examples of other map services. If you had marked a place on the map the marker would not be in the same place on the other map service. It was in the middle of the map. This has now been fixed. [14]
Changes this week
- Very old and inactive unpublished translations in the Content Translation database will be removed. This is because of technical maintenance. If you have not worked on a translation after 1 January 2016 you will lose it after 6 July. If you want to keep the unfinished translation you need to open it before 6 July with the Content Translation tool. You can continue working on it later. Translations that were started or have been worked on after 1 January 2016 will not be affected.
- There is no new Mediawiki version this week.
- EventStreams is a new way to show activity on Wikimedia wikis. It works with the recent changes feed. It will do more things later. It will replace RCStream. Tools that use RCStream should move to EventStreams before 7 July. Tech News wrote about this in the 2017/07 issue. [15]

Please can you explain how you came to the conclusion this was a clear keep and what weight you gave the different opinions expressed and why? I'm not seeing it as clearly as you and have qualms about whether this was a suitable NAC. Understanding your thinking would help me with that. Thanks. Spartaz Humbug! 11:00, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- Well, to start off, there was some good reasons to keep the article. Davey2010, and Guy1890 gave some good reasons to keep. Checking over PORNBIO again shows to me that the subject does meet it, however it may not meet GNG(an oversight on my part). Also, there was quite a few more keep votes than delete votes(3 to 7), and while simply counting the votes doesn't count, over 60% of participants voted keep. I wouldn't be opposed to renominating the article to AFD if you feel it is necessary. SophisticatedSwampert let's talk about that 21:04, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to say that this is why non-admins shouldn't close close discussions. You have done a vote count and misread the arguments and do not appear to have been familiar with PORNBIO when you closed it. What GNG passing references did Davey provide? He gave a link to Google. That's not something that counts. He said his sources were mentioned. If you accept that it might not pass GNG then why did you give weight to votes that said it did. This close is completely wrong. Its NC at best. Please void it. Spartaz Humbug! 06:13, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Recent changes
- There are sometimes links to pages about the same thing on other Wikimedia projects. A Wikipedia article about Berlin can link to the Wikivoyage guide or Wiktionary entry about Berlin. You can now see when that page has a badge. A badge could be the star that shows that an article is a featured article. [16]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 11 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 12 July. It will be on all wikis from 13 July (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 11 July at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Mobile users will be able to edit Wikipedia without JavaScript. This will make it possible to edit the wikis from older mobile phones. This will probably happen on 18 July for most wikis. [17]
- We will not use Tidy on Wikimedia wikis in the future. It will be replaced by June 2018. It could be earlier. Editors will need to fix pages that could break. You can read the simplified instructions for editors.

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
- Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.
Technology update:
- Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
- The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:
- User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js adds a link to the new pages feed and page curation toolbar to your top toolbar on Wikipedia
- User:The Earwig/copyvios.js adds a link in your side toolbox that will run the current page through
General project update:
- Following discussion at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers, Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Noticeboard has been marked as historical. Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers is currently the most active central discussion forum for the New Page Patrol project. To keep up to date on the most recent discussions you can add it to your watchlist or visit it periodically.

2016 Fort McMurray Wildfire
This article has basically not changed since I reviewed it, and I agree with Jclemens' assessment that entire sections of prose need to be rewritten. If you intend to overhaul it such that it can pass a GA in the (hopefully) months before a reviewer picks it up, then that's great... else it will fail for the same reason. -- Acefitt 20:44, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
