Hi
Check out my User page User:Wikiwiki1950, and add your name to the list of Wikiedians who want to keep the Akron WIki Article alive.

Other wiki based systems have Wiki articles, like the Comixapedia, which is part of a larger domain, like CPFA, and that articles still excists. Why is our wiki being deleted?
What about the term Akroness

I know we have differing opinions on the whole Akron wiki thing, and I have decided that I will quit my fight for now, and I have decided that it would be est if we become freinds and edit articles together. Give me a task and I will do it. Wikiwiki1950
Possible sockpuppet
user:TJ Spyke appears to be the same person using the user:Edgecution account, in my opinion and one other user as well. I've checked the edit histories (not completely, only part of it). They edit the same articles, vote on the same polls and so on. TJ Spyke reverted a page twice in a 24 hour period, then he seemed to "sign off" and no more edits by him... and then Edgecution came along and reverted it. History here of the page TJ loves to revert:[[1]]. It seems a little too obvious (to me at least) that he could be using 2 names, and in this case... to avoid another 3RR violation. I wasn't sure if I should put this on the suspected sockpuppets page, so I posted it here. RobJ1981 01:15, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm almost done with the request for checkuser, but I don't understand what the last part of it means: 'You must explain how your request fits the policy'. I read the policy, but not sure if I need to list anything or not? Should I just complete the checkuser? Here is what it says (as of now): It seems a little too coincendental that at WWE New Year's Revolution there was 2 reverts by TJ, then he seemed to "sign off" and Edgecution came along and reverted it a third time. TJ has one other 3RR, and is just recently back from a block. The times TJ seems to be editing (from his edit history), are usually right after or before many of Edgecution's. --What do you think? RobJ1981 01:35, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- What should I do? TJ continues to revert the WWE New Year's Revolution page (not enough to violate 3RR yet..at least), but he does it each day and seems to control the article. I'm simply fed up with his logic of "no source it being real", then removes the poster on the page. RobJ1981 05:35, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- I never uploaded that picture, someone else did. But either way, TJ reverts it with no discussion. I posted at the noticeboard topic you made. Hopefully this matter gets resolved, as I'm getting very tired of TJ. RobJ1981 23:23, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey Nish, need some help with a vandal
Hey Nish, I got a problem with a vandal that I would normally handle myself but I will be on vacation this weekend (Turkey Day weekend) and I believe this guy needs to be dealt with before I get back.
Dermo has done tons of vandalism and has recieved countless warnings (see his talk page) but has yet to be punished (as far as I know). I noticed him after he vandalized the Space Warfare page (see the history) and I reverted it. Considering his history with warnings, I don't know if they'll do much good.
Thanks! Sharkface217 03:56, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'll ask another admin. Sharkface217 00:29, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey Wknight, I got a question regarding an image I recently uploaded Image:LeeSmith.jpg. I just wanted to know if my licensing was right, and if it all legit? I tried checking over other baseball card images and it seems that I can do this, but I'm not totally sure since I got this image from Baseball Almanac. Thanks for looking into it. Nishkid64 22:24, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- You'll need to include a fair use rationale as explained at WP:IDP#Fair use rationale (the only fair use image I've ever uploaded was Image:CarlosDelgado.jpg. I included a fair use rationale in the "Summary" section and the image still almost got deleted!). If it's a card signed by Lee Smith, you may get some extra resistance because it may violate part 1 and/or 2 of WP:FUC. It would be more valuable than an unsigned card (part 1 says to find the most free image possible) and, since it's more rare, it could be claimed that it's replacing the original to some extent (part 2 says we need to be careful not to make it so that no one needs to purchase the actual product - in this case meaning a rare autographed Lee Smith card). I'm probably being paranoid but I'd probably look for a card without an autograph just in case. On the other hand, it could be that an autograph is factory-printed on every '85 Donruss card - I'd have to look it up to find out. —Wknight94 (talk) 23:02, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- OrphanBot complained about a FU rationale (I don't know how it knew it was absent). I think you could just add a rationale and leave it that way. There are zillions of images with no rationale at all so you'd figure people would be looking for those more than yours. But once in a while, someone will get some copyright paranoia and happen to be on your page and they'll mark a bunch of pictures as copyvio starting with yours. That's what happened with the Delgado image I mentioned (the admin marked just about every Mets-related image as copyvio). Fotunately, the deciding admin ruled in favor of keeping the image in that case. —Wknight94 (talk) 23:56, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

- Well, what was his explanation for deleting them all? Were they all missing fair use rationale? —Wknight94 (talk) 00:09, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, if you ask four people, you'll get four different answers. I've heard his logic before that, if the person is alive, you can just take a picture of xyr - like I see Carlos Delgado walking down the street every day! :) The policy is too vague to be consistently enforced if you ask me. That's why I try to stay away from it and only upload my own images or old obviously-public domain images. —Wknight94 (talk) 00:29, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:BoxTorrents.PNG)
Thanks for uploading Image:BoxTorrents.PNG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 14:06, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Editor review
Hey Nish, I'm currently up for Editor Review. I would be most appreciative if you could comment on my Wikipedia habits there and offer some advice. Thanks in advance. Sharkface217 02:03, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Editor Review. I honestly, truely know that I do not want to become a Wikipedia Admin. However, I hold the same thoughts towards Wikipedia as I do towards the US military: Given the choice, I would never join up, but my personal philosophy of national service (I agree with the idea of mandatory national service of some sort, whether it be community service or military) compels me so that I plan to join the US military in some form in the future.
The problem I currently face with Wikipedia is that I'm constantly fighting an uphill battle in both the preservation of information and the adding of new information to Wikipedia. Often, something that I hope to be small edit becomes a huge issue due to vandalism, edit wars, extremely overly burecratic Wikipedians (example: those who like to delete almost every image from topics under the fair use policy), etc. I don't want to end up like many of the former Admins who came to Wikipedia to add information and stayed because they became Admins and spent all their time putting out fires. However, as Wikipedia will experience exponential growth within the next decade (it will plateau when the Internet finally reaches into the third world in a big way), and with that growth will come a huge number of vandals. Honestly, I believe Wikipedia now can use 10x the number of Admins. I can't even imagine how bad it might get on here (with vandals) in a decade or so when the number of Admins has grown at a steady pace but the number of vandals is huge due to the rapid growth of Wikipedia and the Internet in general.
I would prefer to not be an Admin, but I'm willing to put up with whatever it takes to preserve the good info of Wikipedia while ensuring that new info can be added properly.
Any thoughts on this? Sharkface217 02:26, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
EDIT: Also, I'd like to expand my Vandal Fighting activities, but I'm not sure if I should get external programs like VandalProof. I do patrol newpages every now and then, and in the process catch many vandals. However, I usually cannot punish these vandals because of the WP:AGF policy and the fact that warnings really do nothing to repeat vandals. Sharkface217 02:44, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'll try my best. Sharkface217 21:35, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

You left this comment on my talk page: Umm...you stated that you shortened the intro here as per WP:LEAD. We were discussing the intro on the talk page, and I would have appreciated it if you would go back and discuss the intro's status on the talk page. I am restoring back the intro section, and you can make minor changes if you wish, but please don't make drastic changes without discussing. Thanks. By the way, keep up the great work with the article. =) Hopefully we can pull this to GA or FA in the near future. Best, Nishkid64 20:43, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've discussed the article on the talk page: The introduction is way too rambling and detailed which is why I shortened it. Please read WP:LEAD which recommends it is concise. Also some of the sentences don't flow well. The first sentence was a Russian Security Service agent [with a link to FSB] and later a Russian dissident is a much better summary than was an ex-FSB lieutenant-colonel with KGB experience in fighting organized crime. Tom 10:52, 30 November 2006 (UTC). In order for the article to have more impact it needs to be more concise. You restored back the intro' i.e. a major change and said I could make 'minor' changes if I wish but 'had to discuss drastic ones', I hope you realise this is hypocritical, given that you did a major revert without discussing. As you know, several people on the talk page have suggested to you that the intro was too long. I promise you, the shortened introduction looks and reads better than the longer one. The longer one does not summarise what he was in the first sentence including his dissidence, it goes straight into a narrative without any gap: "After working in...", it doesn't make sense in English,"his superiors had ordered for the assassination" should be "his superiors had ordered the assassination". You can't be a dissident of an organisation, see dissident. It's got several long contiguous paragraphs instead of 4 short clearly defined ones. Anyway, hope you're okay, give us a shout and we can talk about it. Tom 11:06, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- It was that you said 'don't make drastic changes without discussing' and then did a major revert. Don't worry, it's water under the bridge. What pictures do you think we should include, what other changes do you want to see to clean-up the article? Tom 15:53, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

More recently I created a new article on a semipro team complete with their web address and somehow its called inapproiate, now i have two warnings, what should i do? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Charlie yusi (talk • contribs) 05:51, 3 December 2006 (UTC).

When is the article going to be unprotected???? I 've made a request for unprotection in Wikipedia:Requests for page protection, but noone seems to be responding. I want to work on that article (provide sources and improve its neutrality, in orderto get it into FA status) but I can't because it's protected. Mitsos 12:56, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
