Caroline Wilson

[edit]

Hey NimChief, just wondering, are you sure the Caroline Wilson pic can be released under the GFDL? Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 11:34, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think it might be better to tag it as a publicity photo or something instead of the GFDL? Let me know if I can help you with it. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 11:54, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, maybe change it to that NimChief 04:37, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I changed it to a promotional photo and gave a fair use rationale for its use at the article on Caro. Please review Image:CaroWilson.jpg and let me know if you feel anything is incorrect. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 08:03, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Imaging Tagging

[edit]

I noticed you have also uploaded a number of North Melbourne logos, the correct tag for Sports team logos is {{Sports-logo}}, i have corrected most if not all the logos you have uploaded, also would you be able to supply a source you got them from? cheers --Dan027 15:02, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on North Melbourne Season by Season, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because North Melbourne Season by Season is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting North Melbourne Season by Season, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit]

Mate, it looks like in your recent edit that you've simply copied and pasted the history section from a fan website into the North Melbourne Football Club article. There is a lot of irrelevant stuff in there now ant this practice is strictly not allowed on Wikipedia and will need to be reverted. It is also done over an existing established work by many contributors that doesn't warrant a separate article. --Rulesfan (talk) 05:57, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mate, let me explain. The work I replaced was basically my own work. If you look at the history I have written 90% of that North Melbourne article, and it's something I update regularly in my spare time. I have just borrowed a copy of the North Story (which is extremely hard to find!) and I was planning on updating the webpage with info from the book. The reason I moved the history was because I wanted to bring it inline with the Collingwood Football Club webpage which has it's own separate article for the history of the club. This would free up space, and make the page look more neater. Sorry for copying from another website, but I was planning on editing that into my own words today. No need to put protection on the page.NimChief (talk) 06:54, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as North Melbourne Football Club, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.geocities.com/shinboner_99/north1.htm, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at Talk:North Melbourne Football Club/Temp. Leave a note at Talk:North Melbourne Football Club saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. [edit]

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to North Melbourne Football Club. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:19, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To replace the material in violation, I have restored the contents you split off back into the article and deleted your split, which is now redundant. If you wish to split the material again, please follow the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting and please do not replace the text you remove with material that Wikipedia cannot legally display. Splitting material from one article to another without noting that you have done so is also a copyright concern, as Wikipedia's contributors do not relinquish all claims to their material. Even if you have, as you indicate above, authored 90%, you do not have rights to the other 10%. If you have questions about our copyright policy or the split procedure, please feel free to let me know at my talk page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:24, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of QNI North Queensland Trophy:

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article QNI North Queensland Trophy:, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

This article appears to be about a single occurrence football (soccer) tournament. It appears to have actually been called the QNI North Queensland Challenge Trophy occurring in 2006 based on a Google News search]. It appears to be a one time event.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Your uploads

[edit]

Good day. I see that you have uploaded a number of images to Wikipedia. First off, thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, there are some guidelines that we need to follow with copyrighted images. Specifically, you need to add a source for the image (a link to a website will do), a copyright tag (there are some listed at WP:ICT), and a rationale explaining why we can use a copyrighted image (explained at WP:NFURG). I see that your images fail to include one of these. Please stop uploading images and address the concerns listed above. If you need assistance, you can ask at the help desk. If you do not fix these images, and you continue to make bad uploads, you will be blocked and your images will be deleted. Thanks for your contributions! STBotI (talk) 18:09, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 h in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for ignoring image upload warnings. Please stop. You are welcome to make useful contributions after the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Hi NimChief, you have uploaded several images taken from online newspaper sources and lied about where you got them from, even when you were questioned by other users. If you do this ever again, you will be blocked, perhaps indefinitely. This is an extremely serious offense and could get Wikipedia in legal trouble. Calliopejen1 (talk) 15:43, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked for help with tagging, but nonone has bothered to help me out. The tagging articles are not clear as to what these photos fall under. They should be kept, because they are imprtant photos and give a visual discription to the wikipedia article.NimChief (talk) 10:13, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:AdelaideDesign.jpg

[edit]

File:AdelaideDesign.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:AdelaideDesign.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:AdelaideDesign.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 00:49, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NM McGoos, Under 19 and 17 teams

[edit]

I'm not sure if they are really teams notable fgor their own articles. I think that the information belongs more in the history or associated teams section of the NM page or a new combined NM history article. I'm not normally a deletionist, but I think you'd struggle to keep them through an AFD. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 05:51, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They are just stubs at the moment. I'm planning to update the articles with more notable information, once I get a copy of the North Story which has heaps of info about these teams. I think they are worthy of keeping, espcially when you consider that there are pages decidicated to other sports club's youth teams. see here and here NimChief (talk) 07:19, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Untitled-8.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]

G'day again... I'm not really stalking you! I noticed the Roos navboxes that you've added to some/all player pages - I noticed because I have all of the Freo player pages on my watchlist - Bell, Burton, Abraham etc. Personally I don't think it should be on pages that aren't actually linked to from the template. There are enough other links to the NM pages through the normal links, achievement boxes and categories. I had a quick look at the Navbox page and it doesn't seem to prescribe that you should or shouldn't put them onto pages that aren't actually listed in the navbox. Looking at some FA class sporting biographies, most only have the team navbox if that navbox lists that player in a list of notable players, hall of famers etc. So where did you get the idea that it should be on every possible NM related page. The-Pope (talk) 12:43, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

okay, sorry mate. Just thought it would help to have all the articles connected. I wont bother if it's causing problems. Cheers.NimChief (talk) 12:50, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on North Melbourne Grand Final Breakfast requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hello. That should be sorted now. You'd marked this and some other old pics as "fair use", but in fact this and the others were public domain. Australian rules on PD images are described at Copyright expiration in Australia#Public domain photos before 1955. Basically, pre-1956 should be PD and not pre-1923 like with US pics. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Nmfcrucks.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Nmfcrucks.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 12:42, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:North Melbourne Kangaroos.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:North Melbourne Kangaroos.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:18, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
