NIKKY BOURBON

[edit]

NIKKY BOURBON INTRODUCTION: Nikky Bourbon (born 6-1-1988), also known as BRBN, is a Latinx singer-songwriter. She began establishing herself by collaborating with artists such as RedOne and Kat Dahlia,Bodega Bamz and Masta Ace, and has worked her way up to debut as a solo artist. EARLY LIFE:

Bourbon was born in The Bronx and raised in Hudson County with her younger brother and Nuyorican parents. During her childhood, she had to go back and forth between New York and New Jersey because of financial circumstances. Her parents were a product of the war on drugs campaign. Caught on the wrong side of this movement, Bourbon resold drugs at an early age. However, her parents emphasized the value of education and she was able to successfully attend North Bergen High School and graduate from Rutgers University (with a degree in Communications and Psychology). After college, she pursued music because she always knew she wanted to be a musician. She was introduced to Eddie “Shy Boogs” Timmons who helped Bourbon create her first EP.

CAREER: Bourbon started out by collaborating with artists such as RedOne, Salaam Remi, Kat Dahlia, Kevin Gates, and more. She also creative directed music videos for Cardi B, Latto, and TMG Fre$h. She has also penned syncs for popular networks showcasing her work on Freeform’s Grown-ish, Hulu’s How I Met Your Father, and the Disney+ Original Cheaper By The Dozen. She was the only female headliner at the PR festival 2022 97.9FM Mega and Amor stages, performing for over a hundred thousand audience members. She also is part of the Symphonic Latino Roster, alongside Tokischa and Marshmello. Her debut single “Yippie Khayo” is a Latin dance track that advocates a sex-positive perspective “as Nikky Bourbon melodically takes control of her sexual narrative while encouraging other women to follow suit.” This rollout has Bourbon play the part of director, singer, producer, and dancer. The end of the video pays homage to the late Dominican producer Xtassy from duo A&X, who helped bring this track to life in one of his final pieces before his passing. Coming from limited resources, she challenges herself by executive producing , choreographing, and directing many of her music videos. Using her creative vision, she hopes to bridge the Latinx and English communities through awareness and artistry. PROJECTS: 1. DRINK ME UP (ALBUM) 2017 2. DAMAGED (SINGLE) 2017 3.
