peppers update
[edit]Hey mike i noticed you like updating wikipedia for peppers.
I would like you to reconsider updating wikipedia.
- Each variety needs a page, the list of cap cultivars should be generated automatically from each varieties page. It is too much work to keep updating it back and forth every time a pepper page will be updated... we store each variety / page in a database so entries are automatically updated
- Wikipedia requires a source for everything and verification, not all pepper information is maintained in a journal and is done by pepper companies / backyard gardeners (see glog section on thehotpepper). Eventually after adding 200+ varieties this gets very hard to maintain and takes much time. we don't require verified sources (although they are encouraged)
- There is not a good way for users to chime in on a variety, different growing conditions / seed sources could produce small variations. we let users give reviews and provide pictures directly on the varieties page. We also have a notification system for pages you follow/create and user tags
- Pictures are really hard to upload with licenses required for each one. we don't remove pictures unless requested by original source, we don't require licensing information just credit where you got the picture from.
Because of these reasons i would like to propose we move all further effort to this website http://pepperdatabase.org. Together with other pepper "experts" we can create and maintain the best source for peppers anywhere. The site is completely free, never any adds, membership levels, etc.

[edit]Hi Mike. Thanks so much for the new articles on Daniel Catán's operas! I've added Il Postino to the selection of new articles at the top of WikiProject Opera's talk page. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 17:42, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Il Postino (opera) has been nominated for Did You Know
[edit]Hello, NewMexMike. Il Postino (opera), an article you either created or to which you significantly contributed, has been nominated to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page as part of Did you know. You can see the hook and the discussion here. You are welcome to participate! Thank you. APersonBot (talk!) 12:01, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
- NewMexMike, there are some issues with the DYK nomination that have been raised at the nomination's review page. Gerda Arendt, who nominated the article, has been notified at her talk page, but she is too busy to do anything. I was wondering whether you might want to try to address the issues. Please let me know (either here or there is fine, though if you will be doing anything, there is probably better). I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. Many thanks. DYK for Il Postino (opera)
[edit]On 28 October 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Il Postino (opera), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Daniel Catán's opera Il Postino is set in Italy but sung in Spanish? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Il Postino (opera). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Il Postino (opera)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
