Speedy deletion nomination of John Coates Till
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on John Coates Till requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Liz Read! Talk! 02:28, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Till articles
[edit]Hi Neutraltones, as you see above two new pages you created were nominated for deletion. Instead, I moved them to your userspace at User:Neutraltones/John Coates Till and User:Neutraltones/Louisa Olive Middleton Till. Unfortunately neither article really quite demonstrates notability. Are there any other references you could use, other than obituaries and announcements, that review or discuss the marionette shows in depth? You might have more success writing an article on Till's Marionettes if you can demonstrate in-depth coverage, rather than two articles on the couple. I suggest you submit your articles to Articles for Creation next time, so a reviewer can look things over and let you know if there are any problems. Opabinia regalis (talk) 06:45, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi Opabinia, Thanks very much for your feedback. I've edited both pages to more accurately reflect the significance of John and Louisa Till's work, as well as their relevance to current academic discussions of 19th century American theater, specifically minstrelsy. I also submitted them through Articles for Creation; hopefully, they will pass muster this time around. Thanks again! Neutraltones (talk) 13:59, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
- Good to see, thanks for your contributions! I notice there's a fair amount of duplicate text and sources between John and Louisa's articles - did their performance group have a consistent name? If they are both notable for the same activity, it would help to combine them into one article, titled either the name of the group, or something like John and Louisa Till, Louisa and John Till, etc. You can use redirects from their individual names to the combined article to make sure it's easy to find. A single article would also make it easier for other editors to link to your topic. By analogy, we also often redirect the names of musicians to the name of the band they perform in if they're are notable primarily due to coverage related to the band.
