User talk:Netherleash
Kindly don't post on my talk page. I prefer civil discourse on the actual talk page. Thanks for keeping wikipedia harassment free.
- Issues with you will be discussed on your talk page. Regarding your edit summary, those are not "de facto reliable sources for Steam and Twitch analytics" - how would you know, you've been here less than 24 hours. I'll point you again to WP:VG/RS.
- Please follow WP:BRD: Bold, revert discuss. Stop undoing other people's reverts and start discussions. You're a brand-new (registered) editor, and in the very short time you've been here you've acted, shall I say, unconstructively.
- If you want to help make Wikipedia a better encyclopedia, you have to learn the ropes. Read the guidelines. Be kind. Ask for help. Or not, it's up to you. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 07:42, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
- Mr.Soetermans I need you to stop messaging me. You are obsessed with me for some creepy reason. I wouldn't mind if you were nice and it was consentual, but this is nonconsensual revoked communication. Netherleash (talk) 08:28, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Adakiko. I noticed that in this edit to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 12:10, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
- I was instructed by admin to post here about the harassment because admin was going to bed. Netherleash (talk) 12:15, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

. Courcelles (talk) 12:13, 16 April 2023 (UTC)- It has become clear you are just here to push an agenda in a dispute. That is not welcome here. Courcelles (talk) 12:17, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
- I swear that I wanted to edit in good faith Dark and Darker look at my edits there. Genuine and real. I did have issue with Soetermans giving me insults and unwanted messaging. and I swear I never insulted him I would never insult anyone and if I was rude I apologize and just can't believe that I can't personally block him for insulting me multiple times. I apologize because I was feeling frustrated that no one was listening to me or telling him to just leave me alone. Netherleash (talk) 12:22, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
- Darker and Darker is the 2nd most popular game in the world right now. And you all had it incorrectly listed as a shooter game. And I fixed that. I am here to help. You banned wrong person. Soetermans insulted me and just couldn't leave me alone. Netherleash (talk) 12:36, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

Request reason:
I am a genuine editor as evidenced in Dark and Darker, the 2nd most popular game right now, where I fixed the game being incorrectly labeled as a shooter game. And I tried to make other genuine edits since the page is brand new. My issue is I was harassed, insulted, received unwanted messages by User Soetermans as evidenced in my talk page, history, contribution history. And not a single person helped me with the harassment nor could I block him from insulting me or messaging me. Netherleash (talk) 12:50, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
Decline reason:
None of this is relevant to your block. Please reread WP:GAB to understand how to contest your block. Yamla (talk) 12:59, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
A way too late attempt to advise
[edit]Netherleash, when I went to bed you'd made this edit at AN/I, and I now see you followed that up with this edit at the article talk page. I thought it was all settled, with you having seen how an experienced editor added the material in an appropriate way. Then when I got up I saw you making threats of law enforcement at AN/I, and that you've been indefinitely blocked and had your talk-page access revoked.
Soetermans was not harassing you by posting here. This is not social media; the talk spaces exist to facilitate collaboration, and talking to someone on their talk page about problems with their editing is a courtesy, not an attack. We can't mute each other because we need to talk things out; the alternative is a block or somebody stomping off. Several editors posted to this page; Soetermans in particular repeatedly tried to explain how your edits conflicted with policy and linked to relevant pages, in particular WP:VG/RS (a page on sources that are acceptable to use in video game articles). He wrote, for example, Please, take moment to read the guidelines
. The one thing on which I would fault him is that he started this page with a templated warning; since you are a new editor, I would have started the page with one of our "Welcome" templates that gives links to our policies and ways of doing things, such as this one, and I would possibly have put the message in plain language of my own rather than using a warning template. You are within your rights to tell any particular editor to stay off your talk page, but that does mean they can't try to talk things out with you, which is what Soetermans was basically trying to do.
Threatening to go to the cops was intended to have a chilling effect, and as such is a blockable offence. We are colleagues; we talk to each other. (The policy is here, although it talks mostly about threats of lawsuits.)
I sympathize with the mess you found yourself in. A lot of it falls under this essay; you were making your very first edits here, so you had had no opportunity to establish that you could contribute in more than one area of the encyclopedia and you couldn't be expected to be familiar with our policies on reliable sources (a very important guideline here, following from one of our fundamental policies) and on avoiding "controversy" sections (less important in itself, but related to another fundamental policy). We are expected to assume good faith of each other, and I think it's apparent that your intentions were good with that addition. However, you did not assume good faith with Soetermans. Wikipedia may be crowd-sourced and "anyone can edit", but it's not a forum and it has rules and procedures. You may be more used to Fandom, formerly Wikia, which is more fan-to-fan rather than public-facing, and looser in its rules? Wikipedia is huge, and editing here involves working alongside everybody from tenured professors to incarcerated felons, from every country in the world. Editing here requires being able to deal with disagreements, including those coming from people of different backgrounds and with different assumptions about what is important, and it also requires being able to deal with there always being someone who's a better writer or more knowledgeable.
If you still want to help us out, read up on the policies and guidelines I and others have linked to, and look again at what people wrote on the article talk pages and at AN/I. Then follow the instructions in Courcelles' second block notice above: please read the guide to appealing blocks, then submit a request to the Unblock Ticket Request System
. You essentially edit conflicted with him when you were posting your unblock request; he apparently hadn't seen the legal threats when he first blocked you. So now your route to appealing, if you want to appeal, has changed.
I hope I've filled in some gaps, and that this doesn't come off as "grave-dancing". Yngvadottir (talk) 03:33, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
