Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Windows Phone 8.1, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Chrome and Android. Windows-related templates with article content

[edit]

Hello NeoGeneric, I have listed your recently created Windows templates for discussion at Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2015_February_5#Windows-related_article_content_moved_to_template - to discuss substituting them back into article namespace. Per Wikipedia:Template namespace templates should not be used to store large chunks of article content outside of the article itself, effectively creating a subpage of the article. Please join the discussion at the linked TfD section. Thank you. GermanJoe (talk) 14:14, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edits to DirectX, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. For being new to wikipedia, you sure do know what your doing. Might I suggest not making so many different edits though, instead just you should preview and then save. (For example, there are 10 edits in a row on the windows 10 page by you) Mathmanboy (talk) 13:59, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Windows Insider

[edit]

Hi.

I thought perhaps I should invite some of the active contributors in Windows 10 article to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Windows Insider. Personally, I feel Windows Insider article has nothing new to warrant a separate article.

Best regards,

Re: Wording

[edit]

Actually, your insisted wordings are merely hypernyms. "Upgrade", in relation to Windows, implies installation of the operating system and migrating files/settings from a prior installation. Due to how it will be distributed upon its launch, almost all installations of Windows 10 will be upgrades, so the wording is essentially the same.

"Succeed" means to "take the place of, take over from", meaning that it is an hypernym of "replace" in this context.

Additionally, the Microsoft source makes no reference to being able to set it manually.ViperSnake151  Talk  00:22, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On The Google Chrome Logo...

[edit]

I do believe the official Google Chrome logo is in fact the material design logo. This is simply because while the "official" desktop website has not been updated in quite a few months, the Google Play version of Google Chrome's logo has been updated for material design. I am very sure once the desktop Google Chrome is updated, the new logo will also come. Please edit this section for further debate.

from your recent edits (well done) suspect you need to have a close look at how https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Marine_and_Coastal_Regionalisation_of_Australia can be incorporated - or at least see also'ed - cheers JarrahTree 04:24, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@JarrahTree: Thanks for bringing the topic to my attention, the information would do well to supplement the characteristics of each area marine reserve. NeoGeneric 💬  05:37, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
My personal problem with IMCRA is it's three dimensional nature - IBRA is less problematic to encounter and explain - the maritime environment has things that belong to particular zones in some parts - does my head in I am afraid - whats left of it JarrahTree 05:39, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@JarrahTree: I think the article needs a dose of diagrams to help explain the differences between the types of regions. Thankfully it appears these maps are available under CC-BY here. I will add it too my to-do list because it appears to be an integral topic for the Commonwealth Marine Reserves, especially considering the somewhat vague and general descriptions on environment.gov about what sort of ecosystem each reserve protects. NeoGeneric 💬  06:42, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Australian marine parks

[edit]

Hi, in respect to the above subject, I am interested in those marine parks adjoining the South Australian jurisdiction because I started most of the articles. This is because of the complexity of the marine protected area situation in SA and in Commonwealth waters in the Great Australian Bight. For example, there are now three articles about entities called the 'Great Australian Bight Marine Park'. When there were two (i.e. Great Australian Bight Marine Park (Commonwealth waters) and Great Australian Bight Marine Park; the latter being a collection of marine protected areas), I spent considerable time sorting these out. I have started to upgrade articles in my area of interest starting with Great Australian Bight Marine Park (2017). I am wondering if you would like to divided the work up in respect to existing articles? Please reply here in order to keep every thing in one thread and as I am now watching your talk page. Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 09:56, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Cowdy001: Hi Cowdy001, I would be happy to update the marine parks of the South-east network. Also, my plan was to slowly make new stub-like articles for each of the new reserves, similar to what I have already been done for the South-east network reserves. Cheers,  NeoGeneric 💬  06:56, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@NeoGeneric:, Thanks for the reply, I will do the rest of the existing articles in the South-west Network. I will have a look at what you have previously done before commenting. Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 10:19, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@NeoGeneric:, Hi, I just tried to rename Southern Kangaroo Island Commonwealth Marine Reserve as the 'Southern Kangaroo Island Marine Park' to discover that you have create a redirect with the same name. Please reply to discuss how to fix. Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 05:10, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cowdy001: Whoops, didn't think about that. I will speedy delete the redirects I made where a Commonwealth Marine Reserve article already exists (which can then can be moved once they are deleted). My mistake!  NeoGeneric 💬  05:23, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I just discovered that same applies to the 'Western Kangaroo Island Marine Park'. Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 05:25, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cowdy001: Yeah I did the whole lot at the same time, but didn't think about if there were existing pages that needed to be moved first.  NeoGeneric 💬  05:27, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
HI NeoGeneric, I have finished renaming the existing articles about marine parks in the South-east Marine Parks Network and advise that I will continue with the creation of articles for the remainder of the marine parks in that MP Network. Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 03:53, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cowdy001: Nice work. I intend to do the same with the SE network, and some new articles for other "significant" marine parks (i.e. high conservation and/or big in area) - except for the the HIMI reserve, since you said below you were looking at making a start there.  NeoGeneric 💬  04:47, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion contested: Cods Grounds Marine Park

[edit]

Hello NeoGeneric. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Cods Grounds Marine Park, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: This is a useful redirect from the name of one marine park to the article about all Australian marine parks, so I am removing the speedy. . The addition of "Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Park" to Wikidata

[edit]

Hi NeoGeneric, I was just checking Wikidata because of previous issues with entries. I have noticed that you have added an entry under the name of "Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Park". I must advise that this name is incorrect. I have already done some research about the "Heard Island and McDonald Islands Commonwealth Marine Reserve" (HIMI CMR) with the view of writing an article about it. I found that the correct name is the "Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve" as this appears on two management plans and on proclamations made under the EPBC Act, although CAPAD 2016 uses HIMI CMR. When one reviews all of the material published by the Australian government about Australian marine parks, one will notice that there is no mention of the HIMI CMR. I would therefore suggest that you rename the Wikidata entry. Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 03:49, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Cowdy001: Hello. Yes, it looks like the HIMI was not part of the renaming schedule - the explanatory statement confirms this. Furthermore, looking at the 2014 management plan, it appears the HIMI reserve is managed by DoE under the Australian Antarctic Division, not Parks Australia (which might be why it was not renamed in 2017?).
The Director of National Parks has delegated responsibilities under the EPBC Act in respect of the Reserve to the AAD in recognition of the AAD’s considerable Antarctic and subantarctic expertise and its ongoing responsibilities for the administration of the Territory on behalf of the Australian Government (Part 1: Foreword)
So I agree that 'Marine Park' is the wrong name.  NeoGeneric 💬  04:41, 15 August 2018 (UTC)::[reply]
@Cowdy001: I was going to change the names to 'Marine Reserve', which is what is used in the management plan. Would you agree?
Agree Regards Cowdy001 (talk) 07:02, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
