Filament Twill Technology
[edit]Dear Nawlin, I'm asking that you reconsider the Filament Twill Technology article I was working on today. I understand that the article was deleted as you believed it was too promotional. I don't work for any of the companies listed in the article, simply trying to help propagate new information. That being said, I was "working with" the wording companies had available throughout literature pieces. I've been rewriting the copy and adding additional references to substantiate what was said, so that claims deemed ungrounded had some meaning and support. Would you be able to reinstate the page so I can continue editing the project? Tagraleigh (talk) 21:40, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
- The problem is that you haven't cited third-party, reliable, *independent* sources to show that this technology is notable, see WP:V. It's not enough to cite the company's own materials in support of its claims that its technology is important or useful. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:24, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Jdub
[edit]Why does the artist page for jdub keep redirecting to JDub records? These are two separate entities and and should be listed as such.
Gitaruman (talk) 19:14, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Gitaruman
- Because the page on Jdub (the artist) doesn't indicate that he meets our notability guidelines for musicians, see WP:MUSIC, and doesn't cite any reliable independent sources, see WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Edward Snowden Affair: Exposing the Politics and Media Behind the NSA Scandal
[edit]Do we need a new AfD or can you re-open the AfD, since the orignal page creator has apparently now changed user names and reposted the article? —Gaff ταλκ 21:46, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Out of process deletion
[edit]Hello NawlinWiki. I'd like you to consider an article you appear to have deleted out of process. The Edward Snowden Affair: Exposing the Politics and Media Behind the NSA Scandal was currently being discussed at articles for deletion. At both the guide to deletion and the AFD notice atop the page being discussed the clear instruction is given that "the article must not be blanked" yet you deleted the page using CSD-g7 as a valid criteria, stating that the page had been blanked by the page creator. The discussion hadn't been open a full day and the emerging consensus was clearly in favor of merge/redirect to Michael Gurnow, an article you also deleted CSD-g7. While the editing history may have been dominated by the page creator on both of these pages, I would argue that Maldoror2 was not the only substantial contributor to those pages. My own contributions consumed some hours of my own time and much of that is not reflected in the specific history of each page. For example I help delete the erroneous creation of the edward snowden affair and properly create The Edward Snowden Affair as a redirect. I also ensured the image of the books cover was deleted from Commons where it was uploaded erroneously and uploaded the fair use image on Wikipedia as File:The Edward Snowden Affair book cover.jpg; now orphaned. None of this work is discernible from the page's history which also shows a half dozen or so editors besides the creator collaborating on these pages. The deletions are further mitigated by the clear and unambiguous fact that the page creator was acting under emotional duress. For these reasons, I am asking you to reconsider your actions in hope that you will restore these pages and allow the discussion to reach its valid conclusion. Thank you.—John Cline (talk) 22:09, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- I retract my original assertion that the deletion was done out of process. After discussing this on irc with several editors tn good faith, I've come to believe my interpretation of the instructions was confused. I will not be seeking a deletion review on this matter. I am considering an RFC to clarify the instructions, and perhaps stipulate CSD-g7 as an invalid criteria once a discussion has started at AFD. Without such a stipulation, as is currently the case, nothing here was done out of process. I apologize for asserting as much. Cheers.—John Cline (talk) 23:43, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- I did open a discussion at the village pump and welcome your participation there if you are so inclined. Best regards.—John Cline (talk) 04:33, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Deletion of Gjirafa.com
[edit]Dear Nawlin,
Gjirafa.com has been deleted due to violation of A7 article. However, after it was marked for Speedy Deletion, I added my comments that explained its Credibility and Significance. I did read the article A7 carefully, and according to those instructions Gjirafa.com fulfilled those two criteria (as explained on my previous talk on speedy-deletion). Would you please advise what am I missing?
Thank you!

- As other editors have already explained to you, you would need to cite reliable, independent sources (see WP:V) to show that this band meets our notability standards, WP:MUSIC. If you can't do that, then please stop trying to repost the article. NawlinWiki (talk) 04:33, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Ethan Nichtern deletion
[edit]It seems to me that this deletion was out of process. As the A7 guidelines state, "The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines." This is a public figure with books out by two different major publishers, who has been interviewed as an authority in his area by NPR and CNN. All of this was in the article and properly sourced. At the very least it is deserving of a vote.Sylvain1972 (talk) 16:38, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- The article wasn't deleted as a7 for nonnotability. It was deleted under category g11, as advertising/self-promotion. The article appears to be written by the subject himself (User:Ethannichtern108), and talks about him being the author of "the acclaimed book" and an "empowered" teacher, as well as referring to himself by first name. It is further copied directly from his author bio here. I have no objection to you, or someone else, posting a neutral article on Mr. Nichtern, who does appear notable. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants
[edit]I see you deleted Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco, but it appears that this entire article is promtional, I have removed what appears to be promotional from the page, the restaurant names at each hotel, the type of cusine they offered and when the properties have been renovated. I would also like to nominate the hotel pages for deletion as they have their own articles, Hotel George (Washington, D.C.), Hotel Rouge, Topaz Hotel, Donovan House which are buidlings of no significance. I feel Surfcomber Hotel is okay to leave as this hotel has historical significance but have removed the parking and restaurant info. --Zj007ny (talk) 15:50, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

question bout deleting "sibche"
[edit]hi my friend
i recently created sibche which is a similar software to cydia. it isn't exact compy of cydia offcourse but the idea and basis are the same. so why sibche is deleted why cydia isn't? and besides I am only a user of sibche, and they do not acquire money for what they do. so i decided to create this article only for information. you'd better know that any kind of third party app markets like cydia or sibche or tongbu is not accepted by apple inc.Poorya0014 (talk) 11:15, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
- The article on Cydia cites multiple independent sources (see WP:RS) to show that the product is notable (WP:N). Also, you shouldn't be writing the article about your own product, see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. NawlinWiki (talk) 12:54, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
The salting of Evil Beaver "scottsdesk"
[edit]hi!
I am trying to create a article for a Band Evil Beaver and noticed the the name space Evil Beaver is locked from creating a page. I am asking if you will unlock it so I can use it for my article I am working on. I am trying to create my first article and really trying to learn the ropes. Once I get this one in form to acceptance I would like to do more writing. I also actually am using this as a way to work on my writing skills. I am serious about this and have taken Evil Beavers page on as I noticed it had been denied several times and I like a challenge. So I have poured hours of research time into locating sources and information to try my hand at creation of a legit article on the band. I know the article is not perfect and am working on it as I get time to focus on it. Will you please release it and link this article to it as the submitted draft? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_Beaver https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Evil_Beaver_(2) I appreciate your time
scottsdesk Scottsdesk (talk) 01:05, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- Not yet - it still appears to me that Evil Beaver is not notable per our guidelines for bands, see WP:MUSIC. Your draft appears to be arguing that the band is notable because it just consists of a bassist and drummer. We don't rely on whether someone has a "good argument", though - we rely on whether a band has been covered by reliable independent sources, see WP:V, to the point that they meet WP:MUSIC. Deleting Page Question
[edit]Hello- I tried to put up a page today for the VH Theatrical Development Foundation and it was speedily deleted. I was careful to edit the text so it did NOT copy from the FOundation information webpage, and cited all the sources I was using. I understand that Wikipedia does not allow advertising, but the Foundation is first of all Non-profit, and secondly, is currently trying to elevate Theatre for everyone, along with supporting lesser known writers. I'm not sure how this could be considered advertising, since they're not selling anything, and what they are doing is culturally relevant. I'd honestly appreciate anything that could help get this page either brought back, or allow me to recreate it so the information can be shared.
- Promoting an organization, even a nonprofit, is considered advertising on Wikipedia and isn't allowed. We have articles only on subjects that have already been covered by reliable independent sources, see WP:V, to establish that they are already notable per WP:ORG. NawlinWiki (talk) 14:59, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
PhilJets Deleting Page Question
[edit]May I know why you qualified Philjets article for speedy deletion? I carefully learned wikipedia rules for building a proper article about this company to thank them for their work in the last year, and did so with neutral tone and explanatory details (without the part about "advertising" their services during typhoons, as explained below). All sources are from reputable external entities in the Philippines, and additional care has been made to make it look and feel like a regular company article. Finally, Philjets being one of the most reputable and notable companies for helicopter & private plane services in the Philippines, a country rather forgotten in wikipedia, not to mention that PhilJets company is also considered as an airline here, I really don't understand why it doesn't qualify for the "notability" guideline... Should I mention that this company substantially helped saving lives after the typhoon Hayan last year by providing air support to several foreign embassies and NGOs here? Maybe this would qualify as as a criteria for being "significant" or "important" under the A7 criteria for speedy deletion ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bchevreau (talk • contribs) 04:14, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- "Important" doesn't mean that they do good work or are worthy of praise. It means that they have been reported on by reliable independent sources, see WP:V, to show their notability per WP:CORP. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:00, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Posthumanist art
[edit]You deleted Posthumanist art per WP:CSD#G11 (made up by the creator). I don't think that was an appropriate deletion. A simple search of the term in Google shows many hits: this is an emerging field of artistic endeavor, and I believe the article (in the form in which I had cleaned it up) was a valid stub to germinate development of information about the genre. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:53, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I was going on the creator's initial edit summary ("based on my investigation as an MFA student") and didn't focus enough on your revisions. I've restored the article. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 21:54, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

butN page deleted
[edit]I am new to using Wikipedia and came across a business network named butN. I am in process of gathering all the info for this page. As I am new to using Wiki I did not know that saving page would mean that it will go online instantly. I had written just 1 sentence and it got deleted. Anyway I am in possession of some more info and reliable sources so will be writing everything up now. Once it is complete I will then save the page so that it can be reviewed by Wiki Admin. Please let me know if this will be okay. Adsyvb (talk) 03:59, 30 October 2014 (UTC)adsyvb
- Adsyvb, what you can do is create it in your user space--click on User:Adsyvb/sandbox and create it there. Then, when you think you got something (and reliable sources are the key), you can Move it (from your little drop-down menu on the top of your screen) into main space. Peek at an old deleted page
[edit]Hi Nawlin. I'm about to start drafting a page about Far Lands or Bust and I noticed in the logs that you deleted a page at that title back in 2011. I was just wondering if you would be willing to take a look at the deleted page and, if there's any useful content there, perhaps provide a copy of it in my userspace? I realise that the A7 rationale was more than likely appropriate at that time, but there have been a number of articles about the subject this year which might overcome that (e.g. [3]). I'd just like to use the previous article as a starting point, if there is anything in it worth using. Thanks for your time. Organics talk 12:39, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
