Queers Night Out
[edit]I'd like to just copy and paste a part of the article that you linked on my talk page after deleting the article.
If an article fails to cite sufficient sources to demonstrate the notability of its subject, look for sources yourself, or:
Ask the article's creator for advice on where to look for sources. Put the notability tag on the article to alert other editors. To place a dated tag, put a subst:dated|notability tag. If the article is about a specialized field, use the expert-subject tag with a specific WikiProject to attract editors knowledgeable about that field, who may have access to reliable sources not available online. It is a guideline of Wikipedia that notability should be established by an authoritative, outside source, not a stone-iron rule.
You haven't done any of those things. You unilaterally deleted the page, claiming that it fit under the guidelines for speedy deletion, citing notablity. I find it amusing that the link you wrote on my discussion page about general consensus around notability specifically mentions common sense! The criteria for speedy deletion does not state that one must include an authoritative, outside source that states the "notability" of the topic, it states that the article must describe why it is notable. It is obviously notable that, as one of the first times in American history, a group of people from the LGBT community actively expressed their sexual orientation. Common sense!
Honestly, I find it very sad that an administrator, who is supposed to represent the ideals of Wikipedia, has so blatantly ignored them. Wikipedia has been built on the ideal that every individual can contribute. That together, each editing and adding, we wikipedians can create a vast encyclopedia of knowledge for all to learn from.
But you have disregarded this ideal. Rather then allowing the article to be edited by other wikipedians, you deleted it. It didn't fit your specifications. Honestly, I find your abuse of power to be very sad. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to exhaustively research Queers Night Out, or go through the steps to challenge you. I must return to my work, to my other commitments. And you will probably make some quick comment on my talk page, delete this comment, and continue on with your unilateral desecration of Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rockhurst singer (talk • contribs) 20:15, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

At the same time I am doing a survey on other restaurants as well.However Wiki is not providing me an oppurtunity to update it by deleting it time and again.I have been educating many people about wiki and expecting user contributions as well. My revised article did not contain any text that would seem advertising and I gave a scope for user contributions.However its dis heartening to know that I am being deprived of an oppurtunity. You deleted my article on one of the restaurants - Tiffin Wallah. Why doesnt wiki give scope to write about interesting places around? .Entry was hardly a day old and you dont seem to be giving any scope for user contributions. However I still see entries for other restaurants on wikipedia.how would you justify this?

Ralph & Co
[edit]Hi - You just deleted a page I created for Ralph & Co saying that it failed to pass notability standards and directed me to the relevant help pages to see for myself. Unfortunately in the criteria for speedy deletion it quite patently says that lack of notability is not a reason for speedy deletion?!? You also pointed me to the criteria for companies, which again doesn't give me any clear reason for your speedy deletion of this page.
As the pages you directed me to explain, you should have approached me beforehand to discuss the deletion/editing of this page. Either way, if you have some other suggestions as to how I may alter the page in order to get it back up and running I would quite happily discuss them with you. Otherwise please review your decision and undelete Ralph & Co.

EDIT/UPDATE: Ok so while I completely miss the difference between nonnotiblity and "it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable", and moreover I still am positive that your deletion broke the rules I guess I have to work with you here.
Ralph have had much press and notability over the years. I already had one source in the article that you deleted, but here are a few more.
Web Designer Magazine Interview
Can you let me know how i am supposed to implement these into the page? Is it through a references section at the bottom.

EDIT/UPDATE 2 Thanks for the info. By the way before I forget, the article about citation you linked me to has some spam in it in the table of contents. It is pretty racist, so you may want to look at it asap. Aside from that can you let me know how to edit the page so that we can get the Ralph & Co page up and running again. Thannks.

FINAL UPDATE Thanks again. Glad you sorted that vandalism out. There are some idiots inhabiting our breathing space. Anyway I have done as you said and updated the page with the sources. I plan to expand on the page in the near future to bring in more info and references so I will get in touch with any more queries. Speak soon.

Llama Farmers
[edit]Why has this gone? (Just came here looking for any new info and discovered they've been obliterated). Surely meets notability, see e.g. http://music.yahoo.com/ar-295349---Llama-Farmers for releases etc. (No idea where they've been for the last 5 years but don't see why that gets them deleted...) --195.212.29.92 16:01, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
A question regarding vandalism.
[edit]If you have a moment, I would like to bring a matter to your attention, and ask for your opinion. Earlier today, anonymous user 201.254.85.193 vandalized the 1973 oil crisis article 17 times in the space of 9 minutes (see [[1]]). In that time span, he received 3 vandalism warnings before finally being blocked by Antandrus.
My question, and one for which I am not certain you can give a complete answer, is: Why did it take so long for the block to be initiated? I understand that administrators are busy. But, really 17 acts of vandalism in 9 minutes and only 3 warnings? Surely we can do better than that, yes? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 18:41, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- I apologize for my tone. Rereading this, I realize it came off as much more of a complaint than I intended. My intention was not to point fingers or cast aspersions, I was really just curious to hear your opinion. I appreciate your response. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 18:45, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- I suppose what is actually amazing is that he committed 17 acts of vandalism in 9 minutes. Apparently, the anonymous user has a faster internet connection than I do! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 18:49, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- Doing the vandal patrol for awhile, it takes the last warning to really trigger the block. I have noticed that most of the time the ban hammer comes down swiftly if you report them to WP:AIV after the last warning. Getting to that last warning takes most of the time. Deletion of Do Me London
[edit]Hi there. Could you explain why my Do Me London page was instantly deleted? I saw when I was writing it that it had been deleted before, but it seemed from the delete log that that was because the initial page had just been a bit of advertising blurb from the company that runs it rather than a proper article. I don't understand why that automatically disqualifies the entry that I wrote.
Can I also check that you saw the whole article? I'm still pretty new here and it wasn't displaying properly for me - just the first few lines. I'm not sure if I'd done something wrong in the formatting. I'm worried that that was all you saw and you deleted it because it looked like two sentences of spam, rather than a proper entry with references to newspaper articles, etc. Can you let me know? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Umenides (talk • contribs) 14:49, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Speedy deletion of Jan Janßen
[edit]A tag has been placed on Jan Janßen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD a7.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Tckma 14:49, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Why is this Article deleted ? For sure, Jan Janßen is not a very important Person, but I think it is important to mention, that there is a different version of writing "Jan Janßen". All the Articles on Wikipedia just contain "Jan Janssen" and there is no "Jan Janßen", so I thought it is important to add this person the wikipedia! So please Explain why you disagree !

Hi! Can you please help me? I reated the Estonian Army page in here on wikipedia. It is under construction and I improve it every day. Just today one of the Estonian Project member (I am myself Estonian as well) noted out that the page I created has some seriuos problems with the style and pictures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maav%C3%A4gi could you please, as an administrator check it up and tell me would such style be okey? I have added many pictures of the am and vehicles along with the text and also I made small icons for the army weapons and equipment types.
My problem:
This article has multiple issues:
* Its references would be clearer with a different and/or consistent style of citation, footnoting or external linking. Tagged since October 2007. * It may need to be wikified to meet Wikipedia's quality standards.Tagged since October 2007. * It may require general cleanup to meet Wikipedia's quality standards.Tagged since October 2007.
Please help improve the article or discuss these issues on the talk page.
I would like that my style would be ccepted as I belive it is more interesting for the watcher when there are some icons and pictures to see while he(she reads the informtion.
Hope you have time to check it up and that you can help me with it.
User:Karabinier 16:30, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
I will remove some of the pictures but I wouldnt want to remove all of them from the right corner - left side weapons list and right side picture list - I would like to preserve it but with less pictures. But what about the other things that one the user Sander Säde critisized? Does wikipedia allow-accept icons before the weapons system-type? Also would it be for you as a watcher - interesting/cool or boring/annoying - to see? User:Karabinier 16:30, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
The page I put up for Lions-fans mocks almost exactly the same page for ExtremeSkins, which is the identical fan site for a different team. I will recreate my page since it is valid.

Contesting Speedy Deletion of Kay.K.BayZ
[edit]Hi there,
I have read and understood the criteria. I believe Kay.K.BayZ meets the criteria.
Kay.K.BayZ is the producer, songwriter and lyricist of the 6hr Sundae album which climbed up the charts in Istanbul, Turkey this year. Two songs from the album featured in the Top 10 on two radio stations and a television channel, namely Dream TV.
He is also a lead singer and drummer in the band. They have released two video clips and are on the verge of releasing a third. They have also had many TV, Radio and Magazine interviews (Billboard, Blue Jean etc...), all of which were spoken by Kay.K. They are popular in Turkey. You can see snipets of the interviews and clips at:
http://www.6hrsundae.com/video.php or on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=6hr+Sundae&search=Search
The Kay.K.BayZ article is aimed at providing information about him. If it comes across like self promotion, changes can be made.

Hello
[edit]I saw that you deleted the Suburban Eloquence page. I don't understand why. They are very popular here in Naperville and the surrounding counties and it was interesting to read about them. I was so glad that someone took the time out to write an article about them only to find out a few hours later it was gone. You said they were non-notable, but Google them. Look them out. Take some time out to justify your allegations. They have their videos on AOL and various websites. They are a hot topic on the KanyeTalk message boards and they were on WGCI a few weeks ago. They are even scheduled to be on WONC, NCC's radio station. I don't believe that a place that prides itself on being "the free encyclopedia" would delete a page because the discriminated against it. YES, i wrote discriminated because you judged the page as some marketing tool, without actually looking into the subject first. I guess that's why my teachers say not to use Wikipedia because it is full of junk that allows anyone to edit anything while "editors" like you let them do that. I'm dissapointed.

UPDATE Contesting Speedy Deletion of Kay.K.BayZ
[edit]NEW UPDATEKayKBayZ 02:39, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi again,
No worries. I understand your concerns.
Due to the continually updating nature of the music industry, songs don't stay in the charts for long and websites are updated to reflect the new changes.
The 6hr Sundae (known as 6 Saat overseas) album was released early this year and has already placed and been removed from the charts. Therefore it's extremely difficult to find currently live links. However, we have attached a few from a radio station and some screen dumps to prove the success of the band:
Radio Charts: http://www.radiooscar.net/muzik_haber_detaylari.asp?haber=847 http://www.radiooscar.net/top20.asp?gelen=148 http://www.radiooscar.net/top20.asp?gelen=146
Billboard Magazine: http://www.6hrsundae.com/media/billboard.jpg
Dream TV Website Screen Dump: http://www.6hrsundae.com/media/dreamTv.jpg
Rock Fest 2007: http://www.zeytinlirockfest.com/ (navigate to "Gruplar" then "6 Saat")
Kay.K.BayZ is listed as the producer of the album, a songwriter, lead singer and drummer in the band. I have read through the Wikipedia criteria and believe that Kay.K qualifies under each/any of these:
-Has been listed as a major influence or teacher of a composer, songwriter or lyricist that meets the above criteria
-Has credit for writing or co-writing either lyrics or music for a musician or ensemble that qualifies above, a notable theatre, or has been taken up by a musician or ensemble that qualifies above.
-Has been a significant musical influence on a musician or composer that qualifies for the above list.
-Has had a work used as the basis for a later composition by a songwriter, composer or lyricist who meets the above criteria.
And I am prepared to remove any part of the article that may sound like advertising/spam to make sure we are providing information about Kay.K and not advertising him.
Regards,
Kudret KayKBayZ 02:39, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Kimkins Controversy
[edit]Hello. Thanks for your feedback the other day on this page. A couple of other admins/sysops also helped me, and the speedy delete tags were removed. I thought we were in the clear! I had added excellent sources (NY Times and LA Times affiliate publication citations) and was working on cleaning up formatting. It all seemed fine, and I came home last night to find the page gone again, this time with no warning. I'm totally new at this and may have jumped in over my head but I thought I had it figured out. I can't get any answer from the last admin in the history (Bumm13) so I thought I'd seek your help. I'd like to understand the deletion, and challenge it. Thank you! Kathycha 12:56, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
UPDATE: I contacted Bumm13 on freenode/#wikipedia and was advised that he did the delete at the instruction of another admin whose name & reasons were not noted in the logs (geni). I have now received a copy of the article as it was at time of deletion, and have initiated discussion with Geni about the delete decision. THanks again for your feedback & hand-holding. I'm sure newbies like me make you want to pull out your hair! Kathycha 06:17, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Mainstreet singers
[edit]Hey I was wondering why you deleted the Mainstreet singers page. Ive read the articles about why things are deleted and this dosent seem to fit in any of the catergories. The group was formed around 23 years ago and the roster is refreshed everyear. The group has traveled for over 120 international concerts and are known worldwide for their classical music. We have a indepedent label that sells our CDs, and we do make revenue from some of our concerts.

Thanks for writing
[edit]Thanks a lot for writing me, I totally agree with you with the defined criteria to grant the quality of the content. but I am totally against removing the page. I think rather than removing the page. you might need to edit and refine the page to make sure of the content.

Hello, I posed this question to 23skidoo, but he appears to be incommunicado. So, I hope you can answer this for me.
I would like to create an article on the political philosophy of Decentralism (as advocated by men like E. F. Schumacher, Leopold Kohr, and Ivan Illich). However, currently, Decentralism redirects to Decentralization. Now, while these concepts are certainly related, the latter articles defines and describes a process, with a concentration on decentralization in business and economics. The article I intend to create is of rather a different sort, more philosophical, though with examples of projects started or inspired by the men I named, as well as others. What I am asking is, what is the policy as to changing decentralism from a redirect to an article of its own? Should I just be bold and start the article, with a disambiguation link at the top: For the process in business and economics, see Decentralization. Would that be enough? Thank you, in advance, for any assistance you can give. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 20:37, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I was writing an entry about the comedy duo Vena und Schnitzel and you deleted it before I could finish. Not very happy. I thought this was the people's encycopedia. Its hard to be involved if over-efficent "administrators" without an understanding of comedy are attacking new entries. The Vital Spark Conference
[edit]I was disappointed to see that you had deleted this page for lack of notability.
The Vital Spark Conference was the largest conference on Heritage Interpretation ever to have taken place in Europe. With 320 delegates from across the world, it marked a landmark event in the development of the discipline, and as a one-off event is unlikely to be repeated in Europe within the next five years. This was an immensely notable event for Heritage Interpretation and I feel needs to be part of Wikipedia.
The conference was a major event within Highland 2007 (see press release here - http://www.highland2007.com/default.aspx.locid-07lnew06n.Lang-EN.htm )receiving generous support and funding from bodies including Historic Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage and the National Museums of Scotland. We received coverage in a whole variety of media including the Scotsman newspaper - http://news.scotsman.com/scotland.cfm?id=1577882007 and the Herald newspaper - http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/news/display.var.1730517.0.0.php
Interpretation is the communication of messages about natural and cultural heritage. As such, Wikipedia and other internet sites were discussed in a number of presentations and keynotes - particularly with respect to user generated content. I would be saddened if after this, the conference is deemed 'not notable enough' to have a single page on wiki. Please could you consider allowing this vital event to have its page or let me know what changes that I can make to fit the criteria?

[edit]Hello, NawlinWiki. In January you deleted an article on "Jucifer". I would like to recreate it, and have been investigating the "notability" requirements for bands. Deletion of Ji Bai
[edit]Hi there. I noticed you deleted the page Ji Bai. Please be informed that Ji Bai should not be deleted as it is a slang commonly known and used by many in Southeast Asia and places with Chinese. Since there is a category for Slang, I do not see a reason why Ji Bai needs to get deleted while other entries in the Slang category does not. I am not attacking G10. I'm a Singaporean and I personally use and seen others use it. It's a pity that not many edited the page but those natives would know this phrase and use it.kiewzhenyi 12:02, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

- They've removed messages before [6], they may think it gives them a clean slate. 95% of their contribs are vandalism, the other 5% are violations of WP:OWN. They were sufficiently warned for vandalism and they were told that they could be indefinitely blocked after the first attack, but they still deliberately attacked an admin. I think a permanent block is warranted here. NASCAR Fan24(radio me!) 19:50, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

an article from an online newspaper:

Please tell me what else I need to do. I can show you posters/flyers of performances in the USA. will that be ok? I can show you the factory pressed CD album with the booklet. Your revert of my removal of the purge button
[edit]There appears to be a widespread misunderstanding on English Wikipedia about the behavior of the purge function on category pages. This was brought to my attention last night when an enwp user came into the tech IRC channel complaining that purging the category wasn't making his parserfunction timer induced category changes show up.
The category pages do not require purging to see fresh data. Sometimes updates to categories are delayed because either the changed pages have not been re-parsed, as was the situation with the user last night, or because the updates have not made it to the front of the workqueue yet, but neither of these things can be influenced by purging the category page. Yes, if there are changes being made to the category you will see the numbers change when you purge it, but you would equally see them change from simply reloading the page.--Gmaxwell 13:24, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

PatentCafe Delete
[edit]Hi Nawlin -
I'm contacting you to discuss deletion of PatentCafe. I had posted the "Hangon" and posted an explanation, but the page was deleted as my talk was submitted.
First - as a publisher of an major online magazine www.ipfrontline.com - I'm sympathetic to your strict guidelines. By the same token, I maintain the same strict standards on articles that PatentCafe publishes. I consulted every WIKI guideline, as well as the objectivity rules we impose on contributed articles, to try and ensure that the PatentCafe article met those standards.
I will be very receptive to specific comments on how to modify this page - and in fact, I did modify significantly after the first Speedy Delete.
I took great care in developing objective, factual, and important-to-industry information about the company and its products. I believed that I followed both the spirit and letter of the guidelines.
Further, I tried to very closely model PatentCafe after the AT&T page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At%26t - one of PatentCafe's customers, and the company that recommended that I create the article on PatentCafe.
PatentCafe plays a very important part in the worldwide intellectual property community - as a thought leader and speaker to the world's patent offices, to developer of software to comply with current and pending patent regulations.
Again - while I indeed discussed PatentCafe in detail - I attempted to do so in a completely objective, nothing overstated, everything factual basis, addressing the business and core technology, market, and product links as I followed fro AT&T's article template.
Please let me know specifics on what needs to be done to have the PatentCafe article approved, and I will address those points a.s.a.p.
Thank you for your guidance.

Rabbi Rocketpower
[edit]Thank you for your response .... "Because, unlike the Magic Tree House series, which is published by major publisher Random House, Rabbi Rocketpower appears (for all I can tell) to be self-published, and there is no indication in the article of the series' notability, nor any reliable independent sources cited to show that the Rabbi series is notable"
This was very helpful. First...I don't think it should be held against someone to be self published (this book was published by Oak Leaf Systems, Bedford, MA). I have numerous independent sources that I can use to show that the series is notable. The B.T.Us
[edit]The audacity to say that only famous people belong on wikipedia. The B.T.Us was the name of my gutair insturctor's band. I was just thinking that "hey maybe he would like to be on wikipeida" but no; your too good for us. Skew you
Notability of B.T.Us (band)
[edit]A tag has been placed on B.T.Us (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. shoy 14:51, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

PMOG deletion
[edit]- Aloha, can you undelete the PMOG article? I don't have all the information handy that I had put in there. I appreciate boilerplate, but the PMOG is a notable passive online game, and I though I had provided a variety of resources to indicate it as such. I think speedy deletion was a little too speedy on this one... Mahalo. --Jeffmcneill talk contribs 20:35, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- Aloha NawlinWiki, I was able to get a copy of the article out of the old Answers.com version, and recreated it within my User space here. Please let me know if you would reconsider the deletion, or would it be better to begin the deletion review process? Thank you for your time in responding to this. Cheers and mahalo. --Jeffmcneill talk contribs 22:22, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Aloha NawlinWiki, the number of users and active users is not the sole criteria for notability. This is a game designed by Justin Hall who is notable to have his own Wikipedia page. Also, the game is designed as a passive game which is an emerging genre. There was coverage of this in quite a few places, including O'reilly Radar, USC (the school where this was created), various professional game conferences and a bunch of highly ranked sites such as Joi Ito, Eric Rice, etc. I really don't see how mainstream press is more legitimate that blogs when we are dealing with notability. Take a look at this google search. If you still disagree, I can start the deletion review process. Mahalo. --Jeffmcneill talk contribs 18:48, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- That's 69 unique Google hits, mostly from sites related to the PMOG project -- not nearly enough to indicate notability. I would say that yes, you should go to deletion review if you want to pursue this further. NawlinWiki 19:23, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- That google search included "justin hall"+"passively multiplayer online game". I really don't understand how many google hits something needs to be notable, "not nearly enough" is unhelpfully vague. An editor has asked for a deletion review of Passively Multiplayer Online Game. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Jeffmcneill talk contribs 20:04, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Hagger and his ilk
[edit]I'm curious, the article Hagger and variants have appeared on my watchlist 3 times, yet I have never put them there. Since your name is on the list of protected against creation I was wondering if you might have an idea as to why this has happened.--LWF 22:51, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
There is yet another Eden Montana-Caceda page, this time created by Cacedachannel, presumably a sockpuppet of Nede. Another bogus page -The_Million_Faces_of_... - has also been created. Users 121.209.208.93 and Montana121 have been involved in edits to Mont and Eden Montana-Caceda . —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ttwaring (talk • contribs) 12:30, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Crown Fried Chicken
[edit]Can you please delete Crown Fried Chicken instead of redirecting the page to Kennedy Fried Chicken. I think it's better if there is only one article, which will include all the different names into Kennedy (the original name) because somebody may remove the redirct in the future. Thanks.--Khoriz 14:48, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Hasselberg, Rock, Bell & Kuppler
[edit]Please explain to me why this is any different from the other law firms or companies for which there are Wikipedia pages. Is it a sheer size thing? If "notability" is really what counts, I can include news links. THX —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hrbklaw (talk • contribs) 21:49, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Hasselberg, Rock, Bell & Kuppler
[edit]Are you saying that adding a page about your own business involves a conflict of interest as to the notability issue, or that anything I write might be false? If it's just a notability problem, I'd argue that anyone reviewing for deletion can just assess that for themselves. I'll add some news links and try again.
However, I would point out that many other similar pages, like Katten Muchin Rosenman offer no suggestion why they are notable -- they seem to be mere dumps of basic promotional information from the company's website into wikipedia format. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hrbklaw (talk • contribs) 22:01, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I understand they're two different things. What I was asking is whether it's really worth my time to prove notability with secondary sources if you (or whoever) is just going to say "Hey, conflict of interest."
I purposely did not attempt to hide the fact that I'm affiliated with the subject, although that would have been very easy to do.
Also, linking to a cute page that basically says "All these arguments have been used before" doesn't do much to refute the argument. My point was that comparing Katten Muchin to the site that I put up, the only difference seems to be size. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hrbklaw (talk • contribs) 22:11, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
SOMOS UNOS
[edit]SOMOS UNOS, a political campaign, and THE FAIRNESS ACT PAC, a
> political action committee, were founded in 2006 by lobbyist and > political fundraiser, ANTHONY E. RAMOS, to address the domestic > immigration problem through the U.S. Congress. The stated purpose > of the campaign is to introduce and pass legislation that will > provide for basic visa rights for undocumented aliens now living > in the United States. A core premise is that the American > people will continue to reject any law that provides for > citizenship or 'amnesty' for undocumented aliens. Yet the > American people would support a law that documents illegal > aliens, allowing them to live in the United States legally. MR. > RAMOS was the principal organizer of the campaign and serves as > the campaign lobbyist and principal fundraiser.
www.somosunos.com.
Your stated reason was because you say Wikipedia does not promote political agendas.
In light of some of the searches which we conducted prior to attempting our entry. For example, the following political entities and/or campaigns, and the number of articles for each are on Wikipedia:
l. Republican Party USA: 1880 articles;
2. Democratic Party USA: 2952 articles;
3. 'Civil Rights' USA: 4441 articles;
4. Hamas - full page bio. write-up;
5. Hezbollah - full page bio. write-up;
6. Al Qaeda - full page bio. write-up.
As such, we find it extremely interesting that your reaction was so immediate, within 60 seconds, and so continuing. We dispute this, and wish to proceed with publication of our article. If someone wishes to discuss this with us, or believes that some of the language may not fit exactly with wikipedia, we are open to suggestion, since none of us every tried this before.
At the same time, however, this is one of the top five social issues facing Americans and we believe that documenting this historic event, just like the documentation of other historic events, is within Wikipedia's guidelines. We hope for an expedited and favorable response.
Thank you, —Preceding unsigned comment added by SOMOS1 (talk • contribs) 19:05, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Ron Paul Spam
[edit]You deleted my article Ron Paul Spam in spite of the hangon tag I added as instructed. You deleted it before I even finished writing my explanation on the discussion page! This is not right, in my opinion, and I hope you will reinstate the page so that others can review it as well before making a decision about it. I have searched for a way to cite email messages on wikipedia and have found none. I you have a suggestion for me, I would love to hear it. I just want to get the information out there, about how the internet is being used to abuse the political process by scrupulous individuals, and campaigns can't even be held responsible.
Thank you,
Hackel 19:43, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Re Ron Paul Spam: you wrote: "That's not what Wikipedia is for. Please read Wikipedia is not a soapbox, and also Wikipedia:Neutral point of view; Wikipedia:Notability, and Wikipedia:Verifiability."
Yes, I understand that and believe in all those ideals. Is not an aim of Wikipedia to basically document everything? Not to support any issue, but to describe the issue, and also to describe those people who have an opinion on the issue. That's all I'm trying to do. I would really appreciate it if you would take the time to show me a better way to get this information on Wikipedia that conforms to its guidelines, without seeming to be a "soapbox". Thank you. Wasn't deleting the article Gate One Krew a little hasty? --Marc Talk 00:34, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

User:Zthezombie
[edit]hi, I'm very new to being a member of wikipedia, however, I use it regularly for research and other things. I was wondering if you could point me to a page that gives instructions on citing articles, creating the detail boxes to the right of the screen, and how to create links, so I can create an article for Killing Chapel, a semi famouse band (if you live in PA)reviving the thrash metal scene, so it dosn't get deleted again. any help you could get me would be great. Thank you very much, -Z
Please delete this page again, thanks. Tiptoety 02:06, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
