User talk:Nargonne
The article Topright has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:02, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've deleted Topright again. First, it's still promotional (the first sentence is "Topright helps clients corner the market.", which is a slogan, not a neutral description). Second, there are no reliable independent sources cited to show this company's notability -- just the company's own website and a blog. That's not enough per WP:RS. [edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope that I don't seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: You note on your user page that your user name is the same as your company name. This is strongly discouraged, see WP:ORGNAME. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your views, for instance, your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
There are several options available to you:
- We can talk about it, here.
- If we can't resolve this on our own, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
Thank you. Vicenarian (T · C) 14:49, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your concern
[edit]I have been using the handle "Nargonne" long, long before Wikipedia or the WWW even existed. It is my user name for this and a lot of others. I just happened to name my company with that name as it has been in use by me for so long.
Orphaned non-free image (File:TopRight-Logo.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:TopRight-Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 01:28, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account. You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 17:02, 13 September 2010 (UTC)Nargonne (block log • active blocks • global blocks • autoblocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))

Here are a few key questions:
- Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory?
- Do you understand conflict of interest?
- Do you understand that to be considered for an encylopedia article, the subject must be considered to be notable?
You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Magog the Ogre (talk) 06:25, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
"You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy."[citation needed]
No where in Wiki have I ever promoted my company. Ever. My username is/was just that, a username which I've used since my CB Radio days in the 1970's. It's my handle and you guys are being total pricks about the whole thing.
Some pages I've created/edited where just to help someone out as they didn't have the resources or understanding about how to use wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nargonne (talk • contribs) 14:22, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
I suggest we unblock with the proviso that he not link to his company from his userpage. His edits otherwise don't seem to be promotional, and in fact if he doesn't mention his company at all there's really no username violation. Daniel Case (talk) 14:50, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- So we're saying the block was placed in error, and the username needn't be changed anyway? I don't even see a problem linking to the company, so long as the user isn't spamming it, which he isn't. And this doesn't really strike me as a role account; rather a single person who likes the username, so he's using it both for his company and his wiki name - although apparently our username policy disagrees with me. Magog the Ogre (talk) 15:43, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- That's what I'm saying, actually. Daniel Case (talk) 16:02, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Welcome

Speedy deletion nomination of Topright
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Topright, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
