Few things

First of all, thank you for finding a source for Cave In's contribution to In These Black Days! I could have sworn I searched the entire internet but found nothing. And also for nominating Cave In discography for a DYK candidate! That article was sitting in my sandbox for a long time, but once I got my hands on the liner notes for Beyond Hypothermia, which contained a lot of information on Cave In's early days and old demos, I think it all came together very well.

Also, regarding your band suggestions, I definitely love metal that is more technical/experimental, but I think grindcore is a little too... suffocating at times. Not sure I will really enjoy Discordance Axis, but I will still give them a listen. Defeated Sanity too! Fezmar9 (talk) 18:49, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

This is a kind of [black] magic... "That article was sitting in my sandbox for a long time," yes, I know that. You should nominate the Cave In discography for featured list candidacy.--Cannibaloki 20:01, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Re: Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance

Just wanted to let you know that I went ahead and re-vamped the list Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance and nominated it for FL status. I noticed you made several edits to the list in the past, so I wanted to let you know of the nomination in case you wanted to comment on the list or offer any concerns you might have. Hope you like the changes! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:49, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

I added references in the necessary places, about the called "original research"... Did you check out all the references to the sales ceritifications and to the charts positions? all the references are right, they take you to the oficial website of the phonographic industry from each country, only search for Nightwish in the research box 'cause we can't to use the link of searching with the name digited. I am so close to completing this Grammy list, but I simply cannot find a reference for 1989 (and I've search all over the Internet!). I noticed you added many of the references for the Best Metal Performance list that was recently promoted to FL status. Are you aware of any other resources that I could use to fill in the gaps I have on several lists I am working on. While I prefer free sites/sources so that any reader can access the information if desired, I understand sometimes those can be hard to come by for "pre-Internet" years. Thanks, whether or not you have any suggestions! --Another Believer (Talk) 19:36, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Much appreciated. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:52, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

I disagree with the peacock tag. The influence of the album is sourced in the article and also notice the words, "has been considered" in front of influential. The way the sentence is written isn't saying that the album is influential, just that it has been called influential. RG (talk) 20:25, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Okay. Can you further expand this article? Also, you have something like books or printed magazines about Discordance Axis?--Cannibaloki 21:32, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

I can likely find a few more sources on the album. As for Discordance Axis, here's a few articles on them from CMJ New Music Monthly, Spin, and Stylus Magazine. RG (talk) 21:48, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

DYK removal

Seems I owe an explanation after you asked "How this article is 959 characters without quotes?"

Because: "The listed items themselves are not counted as part of the 1,500 DYK qualifying characters." and neither do quotes so we count the prose which (with quotes and references removed) gives you:

Portal is an Australian extreme metal band notorious for its unorthodox fusion of death metal with black metal. The band's hybrid musical style—characterized by heavily distorted guitar riffs, down-tuned rhythms, and vocals ranging from Describing the band's style, Decibel magazine said:
Portal members' mantains their identities obscured and instead use stage names, The Curator (vocals), Horror Illogium (lead guitar), Aphotic Mote (rhythm guitar), Ominous Fugue (bass), and Ignis Fatuus (drums). The band members also use costumes that differ from the heavy metal fashion, such as Since its foundation in 1994, Portal have steadily built an underground cult following via their consistent output throughout the 2000s, including the extended plays The End Mills (2002) and The Sweyy (2004), and the studio albums Seepia (2003), Outre' (2007), and Swarth (2009). The band's releases have been criticized for its while it has also been stated that Portal

Copy and paste that into a character counter gave 959.

You have since added 589 characters (boxed below, excluding references).

The idea for these costumes were developed between The Curator and Horror Illogium, inspired in the fashion of the 1920s, as well as the imagery created by actor Lon Chaney, Sr. in a few of his roles from the silent film era, which according to Horror Illogium was the ideal figure for what the band wanted to portray. The band cites as inspiration for its lyrical themes the entities mentioned in Lovecraft Mythos, such as Nyarlathotep, Yog-Sothoth, Azathoth, and Cthulhu. The most prominently musical influences from the band's formative years were Morbid Angel, Beherit, and Immolation.

This now takes you over the 1500 but, when I removed the hook, Portal was significantly below that. Rambo's Revenge (talk)

According to Additional article length rules: "The prose portion of the article, which must be 1500 characters, excludes (in addition to categories listed in the rules) block quotes, headers, images and captions, the "See also" section if any, the references section, Table of Contents, edit buttons and all superscript like [6] and [citation needed]." Apparently you're confusing quotation marks with block quotations (see MOS:QUOTE). Also, "[JavaScript extension like] Prosesize.js counts only the prose (and excludes block quotes) as defined by Did You Know rules, thus avoiding mistakes and providing an impartial settlement of disputed counting."--Cannibaloki 17:11, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay. I must say I knew there was some rule about quotes and, having read the previous post, assumed it was all quotes, hence the confusion. Sorry for the inconvenience. Rambo's Revenge (talk) 17:34, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

I haven't looked at it in a while, but a while back I did a comprehensive rewrite of the Extreme Noise Terror article. Any suggestions on how I could get this up to "good article" status? Blackmetalbaz (talk) 12:25, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

You should start creating a musical style and lyrical themes section. Later, you should write about the band's influences and legacy.--Cannibaloki 13:42, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

GA's

Dude, why did you fail Joey Jordison as a good article? You gave me less than ten comments on the article and none of them told me what to do. I mean There is a bit of negativity in the second paragraph of the Slipknot section.; this doesn't give me anything to do but question it. So you've failed three of my nominations, put two up for second opinion, and only one on hold. As you can see here, However, because the GA process is intended to help editors with article improvement, "quick-failing" may not be the best option. Even if an article has obvious shortcomings, the more specific information that the reviewer can provide to help editors meet all six Good article criteria, the more they will help the overall process of article improvement. Therefore, "quick-failing" is discouraged. Just because you are not willing to review an article in-depth after taking a cursory look does not mean it should be removed from consideration. You obviously need to read everything linked in the GA checklist. CrowzRSA 21:06, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Your frustration is perfectly acceptable, but you showed no interest in improving the article during the review. Also, according to Wikipedia:Reviewing good articles: "If the criteria are not met, the reviewer is left with two options. If the problems are minor or easy to fix, the reviewer can simply fix them, or the article can be put "on hold" for a week or so to give the regular editors at an article time to consider the reviewer's suggestions. If the problems are serious or extensive, the article can be failed." You obviously need to read everything linked in the GA checklist. It is not I who have difficulty in interpreting texts.--Cannibaloki 22:25, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've decided to give you the benefit of the doubt regarding the reviews you mentioned in the GAR and removed them. I've also made a few other tweaks, so hopefully Blood (OSI album) is pass-able now. Thanks again for taking the time to review the article! Una LagunaTalk 19:15, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

None of the references used establish this band's notability.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
