[edit]2RAW4TV blogtalkradio.com/2RAW4TV is a provocative international radio show hosted by artist & activist Palmetto Star. Established on Nov 4, 2010, 2RAW4TV is a platform for breaking underground artists and cutting edge, inspiring thinkers across the board. The show is co-hosted by author Lola K. and the Nigerian correspondent Ernest K. Paul (Known as the Sexiest Voice on the Radio.) This eclectic trio brings provocative Hard Hitting topics, new music, and interesting guest and their opinions on current events, science, religion, life paths, etc. A list of prominent guests include national radio host Charlamagne Tha God, motivational speaker, writer Sonia Barrett, author, rapper, health activist Supanova Slom, and Grammy Award winning super soul group Sounds Of Blackness. 2RAW4TV is also a place where established industry artists, MTVstars, and award winning singers become candid and give very raw insights they may not get in mainstream media. The show has had over 60,000 listens in its first year and has had over hundreds of thousands listens since. The show can is broadcasted on blogtalkradio.com/2RAW4TV.com on Thursday’s at 11PM EST. With technology being what it is today, the show can also be heard by dialing in to (323)410-0036. The concept of the show has grass roots in Columbia, South Carolina; however it truly began to grow when Palmetto Star came to the realization that remaining a resident in Columbia would not be conducive to furthering his causes. After fleeing the unjust police force and the attempts they made to persecute him in his hometown, in 2010, Palmetto Star chose to make Atlanta, GA, the home of the father of the African American Civil Rights Movement. This was to become the birthplace of many causes.
The Cause
[edit]Causes like hosting many fasts and hunger strikes. The most recent was the 35 Day Hunger Strike for Trayvon Martin, the very young African American man who was fatally shot by a resident in a gated community where he resided with his father and mother. Palmetto has been at the forefront of several civil protest. After the move to Atlanta, Georgia he lead and participated in the “Occupy Atlanta” a movement that started in New York with Occupy Wallstreet In 2009 Palmetto along with well-known spoken word artist. Max Parthas and other activists started “March Forth for Freedom Day.” Every March 4th the masses gather to shed awareness about Private Prison industry.
Activism
[edit]There is a continuous movement, one that is driven by statistical information about the citizens of the U.S. Palmetto Star was seeing a trend across the many cities that he has visited, the youth becoming ever tied to electronic gadgets that include cell phones, mp3 players, video consoles, and most of all TV. The thoughts that came about fueled the fire for another movement to ensue. This continuous movement is the “TURN OFF YOUR TV” movement and campaign. This became the overall umbrella that his activism falls under. “Turn Off Your TV” was started by Palmetto Star to raise awareness about childhood and young adult excessive TV watching and attachments to electronic devices. The TURN OFF YOUR TV Campaign is also actively working with elementary and charter schools nationwide to help kids turn off the TV by donating books to them.
