Suomen kartat
Hei! Kiitos todella hienoista Suomen kartoista (File:Map of Finland-en.svg ym.). Muutama tienpätkiä koskeva lisäys/täydennys minulla kuitenkin olisi ehdottaa:
- Valtatie 6 oikaiseen Sotkamossa nykyisin Vuokatin lounaispuolelta. Linjausta voisi ehkä hiukan korjata.
- Kantatie 40 (Turun ohikulkutie) puuttuu. Vähän makuasia on kyllä, kannattaako yrittää mahduttaa.
- Kantatiestä 62 puuttuu Imatran raja-asemalle johtava lyhyt osuus. Osuus on kuitenkin sen verran pitkä, että se varmaan tuohon mahtuisi.
- Kantatie 67 ulottuu Kaskisiin saakka.
- Kantatie 80 ulottuu nykyisin (vuodesta 2006 alkaen) Sodankylästä Kittilän kautta Kolariin. Kittilän Kolarin välinen osuus puuttuu nyt.
Terveisin --Apalsola t • c 13:54, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Kiitos korjauksista. Päivitän karttoja kunhan löydän sopivan lähdekartan. ›mysid (☎∆✎) 08:44, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Mysid! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 230 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

MESSANGER probe trajectory
I was looking at the diagram you converted from a bitmap, and notice that the "Launch" label in the lower-right is munged. The subscript "3" got pushed to the end of the string, when in the original it is after the "C". The position of DSM 2 is not as in the NASA original, and not matching the timeline at the bottom either, so I think it belongs more clockwise. Some of the numbers are different — are they "actuals" or more accurate than the early PDF? —Długosz (talk) 00:17, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Copyright on your knee diagram
Hi Mysid,
I am new here and I wonder if you know if we are allowed to use the knee diagram in a non profit magazine? And in that case, what do we wright as author? This one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Knee_diagram.svg

Hi, I made a slight correction to the Inuktitut table you uploaded. Unfortunately I don't have the original font you used to create it, so I had to leave all the text as text, which is not very pretty. Do you think you could download the corrected version and convert the text to paths? Thanks, Scalable Vector Raccoon (talk) 07:24, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
Consription in Indonesia
Hi, are you the one responsible for the conscription map of the world? If you're not, then I am sorry for the inconvenience I may have caused. But if you are, can you please change the color of Indonesia? We don't practice conscription in my country, although personally I think it's not a bad idea. Thank you in advance! Matahari Pagi (talk) 03:27, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- nobody's actually responsible, but yes, I tend to update it every now and then. CIA tells (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/id.html) about selective compulsory military service and conscript obligation in Indonesia; do you have any sources for the opposite? ›mysid (☎∆✎) 09:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:7 päivää cover.jpg

Bangladesh map
Hello. I'm Distorted from russian Wiki! We are translated some of your awesome topographic images (like this one). I'm here to ask you to make another map: Topographic map of Bangladesh. We'll appreciate your help. And I can help with miscellaneous work: cities, roads, districts etc. I just can't make your good-looking landscape fast :) . 89.23.215.9 (talk) 16:02, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello from Il Dottore! I asked Distorted to talk to you. The map is very good, but would you like to make 3D relief, like here? Sorry, if I made some mistakes. It's because of I'm only 13 years old and study in the seventh form.--93.89.208.253 (talk) 13:03, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Bangladesh is very flat. I tried to make it look more 3D, but the fact is, if you look at the color code, Bangladesh only has some 50 meters of variation in elevation. Should I make those very low variations more visible, the fact that there are 4-km high mountain ranges would be less prominent. But I'll think about it ›mysid (☎∆✎) 09:14, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Zanzibar map
I think that the previous version of this map is better because colors are not so saturated. I want to translate it. And my question: Did you make any major changes after colors' changing?--93.89.221.104 (talk) 05:42, 5 September 2010 (UTC) (Il Dottore)
- I fully agree with you on the colors; it was an experiment on a color scheme I found in an old atlas. Didn't look too great on the screen. I've now changed the colors back in the newest version. ›mysid (☎∆✎) 08:27, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

IUCN maps
Hi. Just to say thanks for your work with the IUCN species maps. They look really nice. Would you be interested in writing a short tutorial on how you are producing them? Cheers, GoEThe (talk) 11:27, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- Great to hear they're being useful! Writing a tutorial would not be practical, since the script I use is not very portable (yet) and it's based on custom-made SVG base maps. But here's how I basically make them:
- First I downloaded and unzipped the data.
- Then, using Inkscape, I cut some SVG base maps out of File:Worldmap location NED 50m.svg (for Africa, South America etc). I write down the top-left coordinates of each map.
- I extract a specific animal's range shape from the IUCN data using Perl's Geo::ShapeFile (being a biology major :).
- Then, still in Perl, I scale and position the shape so that it matches my base map's coordinates. Now I combine the two and save it as a new SVG file.
- I upload the map with all the info from the animal's IUCN page.

Hi there. The factual accuracy of our image was disputed. --Leyo 12:41, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Germany will suspend military conscription, which will effectively de facto abolish it, although it intends to retain it in its constitution. Can you categorize this situation in your map?
On the 15th November 2010, the German Government voted in favour of suspend (in effect de facto abolishing it, if not officially removing it from the constitution) military conscription with the aim of establishing a professional army by 2011.
Thus conscription in Germany will no longer be enforced. In your "Conscription map of the world" should Germany (and the Peoples' Republic of China for the same reason) be chaged to orange or would you like to create a new category for countries like Germany which intends to officially retain conscription in its constitution but no longer enforce it, and the Peoples' Republic of China which also officially stipulates military conscription in its constitution but does not enforce it due to its huge population.

Thank you

- your map need a correction for Germany. Germany colour should be now orange, because Germany stops conscription.
