Links to disambiguation pages
[edit]Thank you for fixing templates with links to disambiguation pages. I noticed that you have added the template "disambiguation needed" a lot of times. Did you know that it is allowed to create red links by solving the links? A link as Craig Evans (basketball) is perfectly valid (and an invitation to write the article). A new reference tool
[edit]Hello Books & Bytes subscribers. There is a new Visual Editor reference feature in development called Citoid. It is designed to "auto-fill" references using a URL or DOI. We would really appreciate you testing whether TWL partners' references work in Citoid. Sharing your results will help the developers fix bugs and improve the system. If you have a few minutes, please visit the testing page for simple instructions on how to try this new tool. Regards, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:47, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
TWL HighBeam check-in
[edit]Hello Wikipedia Library Users,
You are receiving this message because the Wikipedia Library has record of you receiving a one-year subscription to HighBeam. This is a brief update to remind you about that access:
- Make sure that you can still log in to your HighBeam account; if you are having trouble feel free to contact me for more information. When your access expires you can reapply at WP:HighBeam.
- Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, make sure to include citations with links on Wikipedia: links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. For more information about citing this source, see Wikipedia:HighBeam/Citations
- Write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let us know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.
Finally, we would greatly appreciate if you filled out this short survey. The survey helps us not only better serve you with facilitating this particular partnership, but also helps us discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.
Thank you. Sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) at 16:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
Ship names
[edit]Do not move any ship articles without reading WP:NCSHIP. Ship names generally use pre-emptive disambiguation, contrary to most wiki articles.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 12:15, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

[edit]deOrphaning script
[edit]Hello everyone! I was just working on responding to a couple bug reports for a script that I worked up as part of a request from this project, and I noticed that only a couple people (who weren't even on this mailing list) are actually using the script. A little history on the script: In March of 2014, Jim Cartar came to my user talk page and said he needed some help in acquiring a script for a backlog drive that he was working on that could keep track of and score deOrphanings for a scored backlog drive. I took that request to the project's talk page (BackLog Drive "DO" (De-Orphaning) script proposal) and there was near unanimous support for this. I thought about the proposal and decided the best way to do it was to build a new script (which is still no where near as comprehensive as Manishearth's OrphanTabs) and build into it a mechanism that will make BLD scoring easy.
What I'm wondering at this point is, since there appears to be only two people using the script, should I continue to develop this script with a goal of using it for scoring BLDs or just debug the existing script and leave it at that. Thanks for any replies or comments.
If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list or alternatively to opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Opted-out of message delivery to your user talk page.

Your edit on 20:20 (Ryan Adams album)
[edit]Hi - I noticed you edited the info box on the Ryan Adams box-set 20:20 from reading 'Unreleased box-set' to just 'Box set'. As it is unreleased I think the status is valid, but I don't want to just revert the change without talking to you first. Would appreciate your reasoning if you have a moment. Many thanks! Dennisthemonkeychild (talk) 11:38, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for your feedback, I didn't realise that the parameter would flag up like that. At the moment it seems the infobox has no allowance for unreleased albums so leaving as is probably works best. I think it's better than classifying it as 'other' in any case. Either that or it just shouldn't have the infobox at all?Dennisthemonkeychild (talk) 09:02, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

Linkin Park band members
[edit]Hey there! I know there is some kind of problem for the pages of Dave Farrell and Rob Bourdon, and I would also like to help you in that case. The problem is that these two members aren't that active as the rest members are. This makes a very small article about them, which is ultimately deleted or redirected. So if you know any extra info about them then go ahead and make the pages, I would give the info that I know to the page. Thank you and All the best.Mike:Golu · [ Confidential message ] 08:08, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

Your Newspapers.com free account
[edit]In your response to the google form in the signup email you mentioned that you've had a free account since June 2014. It's possible to sign up for a "free account" that doesn't give you access to much or any content. The free account is just what you get when you register, and you only get full access to content when it gets activated by Newspapers.com staff in response to a request from the Wikipedia Library account coordinator (ie me). Would you check and see if that's what you have please? Just try a search and see if it shows you the actual newspaper results or instead asks you to upgrade to a paid subscription (but don't pay anything if it does!) Thanks HazelAB (talk) 14:03, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- You should have full access to Newspapers.com content now. HazelAB (talk) 22:32, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Unfilled reqs
[edit]Hey, a suggestion re: filling unfilled reqs at WP:RX—some of the older ones (older than a year) might not even be wanted anymore, so it's worth talk page messaging the requester before digging those threads back up (some users won't be active anymore or might have otherwise lost interest in the article). czar 00:29, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
@Czar: - Regarding the old requests, I email the user regarding the request and ask if they want the articles. Some of them I've received a reply, while others I have not. A few of the requesters were grateful that i found the resource (and even forgot about the request) --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:35, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Just thought it would be worth mentioning before resuscitating from the page's archives czar
- @Czar: True. Most of the ones I revived I got a response from. I've also revived other requests but I've haven't received a message for those users. So I'll probably not move them unless i get a reply. Did you also see my question about the archive bot? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:47, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

I think you deserve this for finding the source I asked for even though the page numbers were out, and for persevering in getting the pdf and sharing it with me – thank you so much! Yes, Google Books can be weird... Nortonius (talk) 13:04, 8 November 2015 (UTC) |
Hello! :)
[edit]Hello MrLinkinPark333, how are you doing? :-) I have a question; is this request I made even possible to fulfil? It should be possible to get through JSTOR and other media, but Im not sure whether you could actually retrieve it as its quite specific. I didn't see any reply for long so I assumed it was not findable, but perhaps Im wrong? If you find yourself able regarding time, please leave me a reply. :-) Bests - LouisAragon (talk) 13:27, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- @LouisAragon: I wasn't able to locate it. JSTOR doesn't have it, and Google Books only has snippet views. You can leave the request open in case another user is able to find it. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 18:44, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
- Alright, I will do that. Thanks for your reply and for having taken a look. Bests - LouisAragon (talk) 21:49, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New Olympic gold medalists in swimming vs. synchronized swimming
[edit]Hi, MrLinkinPark. As an active member of WP:SWIMMING, I've been watching the slow progress of adding the new Category:Olympic gold medalists for the United States in swimming. I just noticed that you are including synchronized swimmers in the same new category as competitive swimmers. Synchronized swimming (scored artistic movements) and competitive swimming (timed distance events) are completely different sports, and these two classes of Olympic medalists need to separated into different categories. If you have any questions, or difficulty picking out the synchronized swimming already lumped in with the competitive swimmers, please ask. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:08, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
