[edit]What exactly do you mean by mountain "fister"? Is that a reference to the sex act? Arfæst Ealdwrítere 00:03, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Onel5969 (talk) 01:29, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Hi, Mountainfister2015!
I'm confused by your references to the "Kendall Square Final Report 2013" and related documents. You put page numbers in your edit summary, but not in the article citations, which seems wrong -- am I missing something? Also, I don't think the specific references to height in that report should be trusted. There is confusion between the height of the tallest object on the roof (e.g. the antenna atop Eastgate, the 50-foot Crow's Nest atop Bldg. 54) and the height of the building itself. Thanks. jhawkinson (talk) 19:25, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
- When it comes to references I am not the best. Hertz1888 usually cleans up my work
- This seems like a waste. Please put the page numbers in the citations in the article, not just in the edit summary. If you don't know how to use the Template:cite web that's fine, but at least get the information in there. Thanks! jhawkinson (talk) 19:52, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
- IMO you are now putting far too much detail in the references (such as nos. 8, 18, 31, and especially 39 & 40). Generally referencing just the page numbers should suffice to direct the reader to such details and to confirm the sourced entry. There is a much greater need for effort to ensure the list is complete and that all heights given are architectural. Hertz1888 (talk) 14:56, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- In regards to the latest revisions (13 MAY 15), do you suggest that I put the specifics from the references into the talk portion of the list? One can get easily lost looking for all of the specific numbers used in the height calculations. Can the list be used as a reference?Mountainfister2015 (talk) 15:16, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- The preceding response copied from my talk page to keep the discussion together here. Hertz1888 (talk) 21:29, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

- Talk pages are meant for discussions about editing, not as a place to publish information for readers. I suggest leaving the page nos. in the refs. for now, but removing most or all of the other "how-to-find-it" directions, and then working to remove the need for them. That means either finding better sources or undoing some of your own work by removing entries relying on unreliable sources. The need for complex directions arises entirely from the use of highly suspect sources such as the "Kendall Square Final Report 2013". As jhawkinson suggests, that report (among others) is not trustworthy for height information because, for one thing, it fails to distinguish building (architectural) height from overall height. If you look at the List of tallest buildings in Pittsburgh (one of many possible examples) you will observe that it relies almost entirely on Emporis and SkyscraperPage for sourcing. There are 77 refs. currently shown, not a single one with explicit "where to look" directions. Let's ditch the unreliable sources and anything based on them as soon as possible. Disambiguation link notification for July 24
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mousam River, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Acton and York County. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Cambridge, Mass. building heights
[edit]Greetings, Mountainfister2015
My recent reworking of the List of tallest buildings and structures in Cambridge, Massachusetts was admittedly partial, just a start. I left it for you (or others) to carry on the work, including correcting any misinterpretations or other errors I might have made. I am unable to engage in detailed analysis at this time, and encourage you to go ahead along the lines you outlined on my talk page. Your reasoning seems sound. Best wishes, and thanks for building the article. Hertz1888 (talk) 05:40, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
