May I edit some of the synopsis content on The Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life page?

[edit]

Hello,

Thank you for writing up a detailed synopsis for the drama Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life. I believe that anyone can provide editing on a wikipedia page but I first wanted to let you know of my intentions to want to edit the synopsis. You did a great job but there were a couple of items that I wanted to edit. But also wanted to add more details after the final conclusion of the drama as well. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

May I edit some of the synopsis content on The Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life page?

[edit]

Thank you for your response.

Although, there is some deception and lies in the drama, I almost felt like the introduction made it seem like that is what the whole drama was about or that it made the tone of the drama about lies and deception. Although I do agree that there are lies and deception, but I also feel like the main premise of the drama is still about love. Also, to focus on lies and deception, it made it feel like it was a sinister/ deceptive toned type of drama, which is not the impression that I or others got when we watch/ watched this drama. I personally would not watch a drama where the focus is on lying or deceiving others. But to be technical, many Korean dramas have characters who lie and deceive.

Although, I do appreciate the work that you put into it.

But I truly believe that this is a beautiful drama about having a beautiful love and a wonderful life. But only with the conclusion of the drama on March 22nd can we really see what that will look like.

I just wanted to make the focus more on the love aspect of the drama and not so much on the lies that were told.

I actually didn't feel that the characters were always miserable or gloomy but to read that in the synopsis, it made it feel like it might have been a depressing type of drama, but it wasn't that depressing. Only the part of what happens in the beginning and what happens to Cheong Ah and Jun Hwi after the beach incident and when his true identity is revealed. Also, to read that it was a story about deception, made it feel like people were deceiving all the time but I don't feel that was the emphasis.

So, although I would still include the idea about there being lies and deception from certain characters, I wanted to add that the drama of Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life is a story about love and how that love is tested and challenged and also about what true love does and doesn't look like and how sometimes love can and can not change others. And how they can have a wonderful life and what that would look like. And to show the growth of the characters as Jun Hwi, Cheong Ah Seol Ah , Tae Rang and Jin Woo have grown a lot from the beginning of the drama to now.

Also, I wanted to mention the heavy topics that the drama deals with. It is a drama that deals with a lot of heavy topics that aren't always talked about in Korean dramas and so I wanted to emphasize that as well. But I think due to the fact that the drama isn't over yet, it is hard to still give the main intent of the drama or a final conclusion of the drama.

Also, there were two incidents that weren't accurate to the drama. First, Cheong Ah passed the civil service exam at her 14th attempt. And Jun Gyeom's accident only caused the death of one person who was the elderly woman named Park Kkeut San. Kang Si Wol was only the boy that was framed for the hit and run accident.

I appreciate the time that you have put into writing the synopsis for the drama. I along with other friends of mine really like this drama but when we read the synopsis that you wrote, it didn't feel like an accurate portrayal of the drama. And we have also been watching this drama from the beginning. I think what kind of stood out to us was the "lies and deception" part or the "gloomy and miserable part" along with the "15th civil service exam piece " or that "Jun Gyeom killed 2 people". (Yes, there are lies and deception, from Cheong Ah's mom or Jun Hwi's mom, but we didn't feel that that was the emphasis of the drama. Also, the characters weren't "gloomy or miserable" all the time.)

I actually wouldn't want to watch a story about deception and this drama didn't feel like a story of deception even though there are elements of it.

Just to edit: (I just reread the synopsis and I don't see the part about Jun Gyeom killing 2 people. Thank you for editing that.)

When others read the synopsis of this drama, I just want others to be able to see an accurate portrayal and to hopefully enjoy it as much as myself and my friends have enjoyed it. There are a lot of lessons to be learned from this drama as the writer didn't waste any words. Many of the words that were spoken by the characters in the drama helped give light and insight to the heavy topics that they portrayed in this drama.

I will try to keep some of what you wrote in the introduction but wanted to add to it as well and hopefully help to show that the drama is also about love and hope and that it isn't just about lies and deception.

Thank you for your time in reading this and thank you for your reply.

Sincerely,

ChocoppangChocoppang (talk) 22:13, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About the heroine, Cheong Ah

[edit]

Also, just re- read the introduction about Cheong Ah , the heroine... she actually did lie to the judge when she said that Jun Gyeom drowned saving her. But of course it was with the intention to protect the feelings of the judge.

But thank you also for editing that Jun Gyeom's accident caused the death of one person as when I read it yesterday, the synopsis had 2 people in it.

Also, I didn't feel that Yeon Ah, the youngest sister was being used as a pawn. Instead, the reason why Jun Hwi reached out to her is because he wants to develop her as an athlete. His intention of working at Inter Market in the sports marketing department is to develop athletes and to help them succeed. He was inspired by his brother who wrote to him in the letter that he wanted to be a basketball star and not a judge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chocoppang (talkcontribs) 22:48, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I wouldn't reveal too much either...

Thank you again for your response.

I totally agree with you. However, when I was watching that particular scene, I never thought of it in that way that it was the Captain who came to rescue her. I think I saw it more simply that he came to speak a good word on her behalf.

I can send you my edit if you'd like but would like to wait until the drama actually ends. I just didn't want the drama synopsis' emphasis to be one on gloom and deception as then every drama could be focused on that.

I think it definitely can be mentioned that cheong ah's mom lied and that Jun hwi's mom lied but I don't know if the synopsis has to mention about every lie that was told because technically, everyone lied and deceived, Jun hwi didn't reveal his identity, seol ah and jin woo didn't reveal who seol ah was related to, cheong ah lied to the judge. I just don't know if that should be the emphasis. Although it can be mentioned. Also, in most every drama, there are lies that are told. For example, in the drama Blessings of the Sun, babies were switched at birth and in another drama, the adoptive dad lied to his daughter about who her real father was. Unfortunately, there are a lot of lies that are told by the characters in most Korean dramas.

But I think my point is ... that I wondered if the emphasis of the drama can be a bit more balanced so that readers don't read the synopsis and think, "Oh, this is just a drama about deception and lies and about being gloomy and miserable". To me when I watch this drama, it is a story about the love between two people who have been very injured and scarred... one due to bullying and rejection from family and the other due to a tragic event in his family. But how love healed them. And to also add that it is also a story about what real love is. Seol Ah thought that love meant marrying into a rich family but realizing that there is more to love than that... the love of her family being important. For Tae Rang, it is the love of his family. And for Jin Woo, he is also learning what love looks like. For me, I would like to emphasize this aspect of the drama more.

What do you think?

Sincerely,

ChocoppangChocoppang (talk) 23:45, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am seeing where you are coming from

[edit]

Yes, let's wait to see how the drama actually ends.

I have been giving it more thought and I see where you are coming from.

I think i have a way of kind of putting in my edit yet being able to piggyback what you are saying as well. But will wait to see how the drama concludes.

Thank you for taking the time to dialogue with me!!

Sincerely,

ChocoppangChocoppang (talk) 02:03, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree

[edit]

And yes, you are right it is a provocative, engaging yet also an infuriating drama!! But I think that's why I like it so much more than some other dramas that I have seen.

Fixed Gu Joon Hwi's name and added some extra details to the synopsis

[edit]

hello, I just edited the names for Gu Joon Hwi... as it was spelled as Koo Joon Hwi and Kim Jun Hwi previously.

I also added a few more details for Gu Joon Hwi such as why he kept his identity hidden from Cheong Ah and also added a little bit more character description of Jun Hwi as I felt that his words and his character are very critical to the drama as he is the one who previously mentioned about how when ones truth is distorted how ones life is distorted which is what happened in this drama since everyone's life became distorted due to lies. I also added the part about what was written in the letter to Cheong Ah from Jun Gyeom as I felt that was a critical piece as well.

thank you for your hard work on the synopsis. Tunlezah (talk) 22:40, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tunlezah:I am fine with the name edits. I used the spelling of Gu as Koo from the Viki.com subtitles and also from Asianwiki, but it's fine. I may go back and look more carefully at systems of romanization of hangeul, but that's for another day.

As I developed the synopsis and especially in response to some of the comments I received from others, I reduced the amount of opinion and judgments about the story and tried to stick with the facts of the story as much as I could. A synopsis is and should be a summary and a description. I think some of your edits go back to expressing opinions and judgments. I don't think the synopsis is the place for this. Therefore, when I go over the edits, I am going to scale back some of your comments. Also, I happen to be a stickler for accurate English usage and some of the usage in your edits needs to be corrected. I don't wish to pick nits, but I do a lot of editing in my profession.

I did some editing of my opinions of what I thought the drama's message was. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tunlezah (talkcontribs) 23:40, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

also, tried editing some of my grammar, etc.Tunlezah (talk) 23:42, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious but the synopsis of this drama is longer than many other Korean drama synopses and so I wondered why it is so detailed. I was just curious. Thank you!Tunlezah (talk) 23:46, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tunlezah:I wrote the very long synopsis for two reasons: First, I think a short synopsis isn't very helpful. Not everyone who reads it will actually see it, and this becomes a more comprehensive record of what the drama is about. Second, while I don't believe in too many spoilers, a drama of this complexity with so many important characters can be quite confusing, especially for Westerners who find it hard to keep Asian names straight, and I like a synopsis that enables one to cut through the confusion, especially about the set-up. If you read the synopsis, you'll see right away that it doesn't give away the resolution (although romantic stories of this kind can be a little predictable as to the ultimate outcome) and it especially doesn't give away plot points that arise later in the drama - almost everything in this synopsis is known within the first 20 episodes or a lot earlier. But you still can get a good sense of the story arc; it's a delicate balancing act.

I see! Makes sense about the detailed synopsis.

You had written in your synopsis that it was never quite revealed why Jun Hwi kept his identity hidden from Cheong ah. Are you referring to when they first met and how she was needing his help with Baek Rim or even later on after helping Baek Rim? If it was while they needed to help Baek Rim, I think he just didn't wanted to reveal who he was since he was Jin Woo's cousin and didn't want to reveal it. Since, then Cheong ah may have not felt comfortable getting help from him. I just don't think he is a character that wants others to become close to him.

But if you mean after helping Baek Rim, he didn't reveal his identity even further because he knew that Cheong ah didn't want Jun Gyeom's brother or mom knowing about how Jun Gyeom really died.

I did add that part.

I’m sorry but in what way is it original research to point out that the name of the fictional boy group AtoZ resembles the name of the real boy group Ateez, something that any follower of KPop would notice? Mjakarlin (talk) 23:19, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
