Go away somewhere photograph of my father (1970 Ostashev Arkady Ilyich.jpg), which I used from the personal archive. A copy of the pictures there are in the funds of the РГАНТД. I hope my copyright is not infringed (Mixrunya (talk) 15:23, 22 February 2014 (UTC)).

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Ostashev Arkady Ilyich, the beginning of the 70-ies of the last century..jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Ostashev Arkady Ilyich, the beginning of the 70-ies of the last century..jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Redrose64 (talk) 12:55, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Probably easier to use a different photograph of my father, than to preserve the like. Or still possible to use this photo, which is used from my home archive. Who can tell how to do this. My English is not very good, I am from Russia(Mixrunya (talk) 04:20, 27 February 2014 (UTC)).
- Please note that the image wasn't marked for deletion. just the file description page on English Wikipedia. This was because the image already had a file description page on Commons, and there should be only one file description page for an image. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:27, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
So photo father will remain in the article? And not need to do anything. (Mixrunya (talk) 11:47, 27 February 2014 (UTC)).
Repost of Category:Candidate of technical Sciences
[edit] A tag has been placed on Category:Candidate of technical Sciences requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. Redrose64 (talk) 11:50, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- This category includes persons from the Russian Wikipedia, having a scientific degree of candidate of technical Sciences. This degree is equivalent to doctor of philosophy in Western countries. Therefore, I consider it possible to maintain this category.(Mixrunya (talk) 12:23, 7 March 2014 (UTC)).
- Then please file a request at WP:DRV. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:40, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- Can't figure out how to do it. Mixrunya (talk) 13:03, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- At WP:DRV#Steps to list a new deletion review it shows the various steps; the first of these is "Before listing a review request please attempt to discuss the matter with the closing admin". At WP:DELETE#Deletion review it says something very similar: "If you believe a page was wrongly deleted ... you should discuss this with the person who performed the deletion, or closed the debate, on their talk page". The closing admin for Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2014 February 26#Category:Candidate of technical Sciences was Good Olfactory (talk · contribs). --Redrose64 (talk) 14:45, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

- It's late, category deleted again, I just don't have time for many of correspondence, in the Russian version of Wikipedia this category is saved and perhaps that's enough. Mixrunya (talk) 06:18, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps if the category of "Candidate of technical Sciences" be renamed "Candidate of Sciences", then it will be possible to maintain this category under a new name and all incoming articles regarding this category. Mixrunya (talk) 07:13, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- The policies of Russian Wikipedia have no bearing here. At English Wikipedia, we do not categorise people by the degree that they have been awarded; the lowest academic title that justifies a category is that of Professor - which is more of a post than a qualification. Please do not create this category again without discussing it at a venue such as WT:CAT or by getting the deletion overturned at WP:DRV. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:19, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Wikilinking
[edit]Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.
I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:
- dates
- years
- commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
- common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).
(This even applies for infoboxes.)
Thanks, and my best wishes.

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Russian state archive for scientific-technical documentation, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Restoration (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Adding books to articles
[edit]Be careful when adding books to articles that you provide some means of locating them. For example, "Testing of rocket and space technology - the business of my life" by Arkady Ostashev has no identifier included, and I cannot find any record on Worldcat, no hits on Google (except where it's been added to Wikipedia). Same with "My first life" by Е. A. Anufrienko. Please do not add such records if it is impossible for readers to actually access the book. If you know of an ISBN or Worldcat (OCLC) number, please add them to those entries. Otherwise, they need to be removed. Thanks. — Huntster (t @ c) 08:14, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, the bigger problem is that of the several articles I checked, not a single book that you inserted was actually in English. This is a problem since this is the English Wikipedia. Further, for at least a couple of books with ISBNs included, they were not actually valid ISBNs that I could tell. I'm going to remove these books tomorrow unless I can find some evidence that they will contribute to English readers' comprehension or can find some kind of English translation. I would suggest that you focus your attentions on the Russian Wikipedia, where readers will gain much more from these entries. — Huntster (t @ c) 08:26, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
ISBN in Arkady Ostashev
[edit]Hi. Do you have any evidence that the ISBN you restored is the one shown i the book? I underline the fact that the ISBN number is invalid. This one I was able to ensure that it was really printed on the book even it was invalid. Any help/opinion is welcome. -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:18, 20 June 2015 (UTC) Good day! License tagging for File:OstashevEI-1-.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:OstashevEI-1-.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:06, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
