Speedy deletion nomination of Mitchell rob\Mom
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Mitchell rob\Mom requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Prestonmag (talk) 17:39, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

I am brand new here and am trying to learn how to create a page. Under the tutorial it suggests I can make my own "sandbox" by creating a subpage of my own page. I did this and started playing around. However, within, 5 minutes of figuring out how to do this an administrator (Prestonmag) immediately labled it for speedy deletion and then it was gone within 5 minutes after that (while I was still trying to figure out WHAT speedy deletion is. This is not very helpful. How am I supposed to "fiddle around" and learn without some admin swooping in and deleting me? Mitchell rob (talk) 18:10, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- From what I can see, it seems that the title of the sandbox article was Mitchell rob\Mom. Two things: 1) you must retain the User: namespace prefix and 2) you must use a forward slash, not a backslash. So, next time, create it as User:Mitchell rob/Mom. Maybe an admin can restore it for you. — Waterfox ~talk~ 18:24, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- I put a request on the deleting admin's talk page on your behalf, asking for him to undelete it and move it to the user subpage that Waterfox linked above. In Wiki-parlance this is known as userfication. Welcome to Wikipedia! VQuakr (talk) 18:40, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Done. Peridon (talk) 20:39, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- BTW The people putting tags on aren't usually admins - although we do sometines. It's the new page and new account patrollers that do that. The admins are ones who can delete and restore (and block people, unblock them, and other odd things). This was pounced on because there is a policy about memorial articles WP:MEMORIAL which is part of What Wikipedia Is Not - and the whole policy is well worth reading. (There's policies about all sort of things, some with rather odd names like WP:DUCK.) Anyway, welcome to wikipedia and don't be afraid to ask. If you can't find anyone to ask, there's a thing you can add to the bottom of your talk page {{helpme}} but don't forget to add your question below it. This puts a flag up and someone will be along fairly soon. Peridon (talk) 20:48, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
