Re:Writing tips
[edit]Hey, thanks for those tips that you gave me on how to write better. I found some good tips. Was there a particular case in which you noticed my writing to be bad? Juliancolton (talk) 21:43, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, I will work on my writing. Also, I am sorry if I have caused any inconvinience to you. Juliancolton (talk) 22:02, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I have tried, the things that Seddon69 told me to download just won't download on my computer. Juliancolton (talk) 22:05, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- It says no channel. Juliancolton (talk) 22:18, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I will try again. Juliancolton (talk) 22:22, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Darn thing. It still says no channel. Is there anything else to do to get it to work? Juliancolton (talk) 22:26, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- It does. I can log in, but then when I get to the page, it says no channel. I put in exactly what you said to put in. Juliancolton (talk) 22:28, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I see you, and your message: Hey JC, but I can't talk back. What do I do now? Juliancolton (talk) 19:59, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- i do, but then when I hit enter, it says Not connected to IRC Juliancolton (talk) 20:02, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- It still says not connected to IRC. Oh, well. I guess my computer just dosn't want to run IRC. Juliancolton (talk) 20:14, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

I took your advice, and started working on existing articles. I rewrote the storm history on Hurricane Carmen, and I plan to work on the rest of the article, too. Is my writing any better on the storm history for hurricane Carmen? Juliancolton (talk) 17:47, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of New York State Route 22
[edit]The article New York State Route 22 you nominated as a good article has passed , see Talk:New York State Route 22 for eventual comments about the article. Well done! Rt. 14:27, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- No problem, it's a fantastic article. Rt. 14:54, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
The barnstar
[edit]Why thank you very much! Always a pleasure to get one.
Re doing other route descriptions: I'd love to, but:
- I'm involved in quite a few projects beside NYSR,
- I have a lot of back pictures to edit, upload and build articles around where necessary, many for those other projects, as well as old pictures to move to Commons;
- I tend to prefer writing where I at least know some of the route and have traveled it in the last few years.
52 and 55 are very local to me (I can lean out of my chair to the window and see this bridge on the former), so I bet they might even be able to go for GA as is. Ditto NY 208 when we get better sourcing and more history.
But I'll certainly try when I can, or when I find myself visiting those routes. Daniel Case (talk) 16:50, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I saw how you did it with the 22 and 20 articles; and I'll do that for 52, 55 and (now that I think about it), NY 17K (it will also help to move some of those pics into the history section now that the construction depicted has been completed). Daniel Case (talk) 17:28, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Just put some in the 17K article. It also occurs to me that it would help if pictures (like, mainly, the ones I like to take) that illustrate the claims in the text about the landscape surrounding the road use the location template when on Commons in order to help make the claimed location verifiable. I'll be doing that later on.
I don't presently have an IRC client; I have been resistant to the use of IRC by wiki editors because a) I hate computer chatting to begin with and b) more than a few RFCs have grown rather heated because of the use of IRC by one or more editors involved. But I might consider it after your invite. Daniel Case (talk) 17:41, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: Hurricane Rick
[edit]Actually, in the last few weeks, I've been having computer troubles again. I'm nowadays working on my mother's computer, although most of my data is on the previous one. However, I am still planning on finishing Rick's article as well as the others (seeing as I never kept tabs on Rick's page, so I can find my info easily). However, any help is appreciated.
By the way, I saw a picture of Rick's rainfall pattern on HPC and was wondering if it can be used in the article for impact. Jake52 My island 05:19, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, what IRC client do you use? Juliancolton (talk) 19:29, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Saskatchewan roads
[edit]Hello there. Thanks for your efforts in the Canadian / Saskatchewan roads. It is good to have a better direction so that the articles read better/last longer/are more informative. I puttered at adding some content to Saskatchewan Highway 913 as it is a road for outfitters, snowmobilers and fishermen in our boreal forest, lake, Canada shield neck of the woods. I will putter at a few others to try to achieve Good Article Status for them, as well. Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 22:02, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- The 900 series in SK will be a challenge as they are all gravel roads in the boreal forest heading off to either lakes or first nation reserves. I wish you well, and will keep poking into both Canada roads wikiproject and Saskatchewan roads wikiproject for more news events.
I puttered on Saskatchewan Highway 58 and Saskatchewan Highway 34 following along your start, do you know what else could be done to upgrade their status? SriMesh | talk 23:41, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- Instead of making a whole whole bunch of images for each highway for the infobox template, can a locator map type template be used. I don't have to make a map for each Saskatchewan town, I just use the Saskatchewan locator map template and then voila, there is a labelled map with the correct co-ordinates. There should be a template code for highways also to do the same thingie.SriMesh | talk 00:12, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- Me again. :-) Another good reason to try to make a code for the highway numbered images is that I peeked at the image you created...Image:Saskatchewan Highway 913.svg... and those three symbolic wheat sheaves are a symbol of Saskatchewan. Our new premier Brad Wall is changing this symbol - so there is news in the newspaper about the cost that the province will entail changing letterhead, and signs all over the province. Already the letterheads just bear the Saskatchewan emblem and not the symbol, as does the Provincial government website Be careful of making too many, till our new Premier finalizes this new decision. SriMesh | talk 00:18, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- I thought I would try improvements on a top priority article such as Saskatchewan Highway 1 as well.SriMesh |talk 04:12, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- I also used the route planner on Saskatchewan Highway 33. If you can make improvements to any of these, maybe we can get some nominated at the GAN to help the Canada roads wikiproject along. I am puttering at these while I am off sick with a big cold, I hope I am a bit coherent. Thank you for any notes.SriMesh | talk 21:28, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Saskatchewan roads
[edit]Started anew, sometimes messages get lost after a while. Thank you for your note! I forgot about the silly red link farms when going for GA, so have been now puttering off highway articles and onto others. Daniel (2006)
[edit]Since you have User:Mitchazenia/Hurricane Daniel (2006), you'd probably like to know that Hurricanehink has User:Hurricanehink/Sandbox. Both of these sandboxes are incomplete articles about 2006's Hurricane Daniel.
Hurricanehink's has better storm history (currently), and yours has better impact (currently). Since there's no real point in duplicating effort, I would like to, if you don't mind, ask an admin to merge the two sandboxes.
I'm telling you this so you don't end up wondering what happened to one of your userspace futures. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 05:32, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Do you not want the sandboxes merged or do you object to that? Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 17:40, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed you deleted Strawberry Flower under A7. However, the article clearly asserted notability (several singles and working directly for Nintendo; also, see Ai no Uta (Strawberry Flower song))- this makes it not an A7, and it could be sent to DRV (the article also had an interwiki link). You may want to restore it - it should probably go to AFD, if anywhere. For future reference, make sure to look over articles before deleting them to make sure there's nothing the person who tagged the article overlooked - you can decline speedies and opt for AFD.
Also, when deleting pages, don't forget to delete the talk pages, as well (orphaned talk pages are G8). Deletion can be more complicated than it looks, but you'll get used to it pretty quickly. --Coredesat 03:14, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
17K and 52 descs
[edit]Look good. I will add one in the former article for Newburgh, and I saw also how you created one for Montgomery ... but that one gives you a map of the town, not the village. Anyway, we needed it and I'd already created one showing "Ward Street" so we have a source for the village layout. Daniel Case (talk) 18:28, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Vote for a post-meetup restaurant
[edit]I'm charged with making the reservations for us, so let's make it official. We'll do this via voting and everyone including anonymous voters, sockpuppets, and canvassed supporters is enfranchised. Voting irregularities and election fraud are encouraged as that would be really amusing in this instance. Please vote for whichever restaurant you would like to eat at given the information provided above and your own personal prejudices at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC#Let's make it official. The prevailing restaurant will be called first for the reservation. If a reservation cannot be obtained at the winning restaurant, the runner-up restaurant will be called thus making this entire process pointless. Voting ends 24 hours after this timestamp (because I said so). ScienceApologist (talk) 17:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
