needs infobox=not really
Hi, Please don't add blanket "needs infobox" parameters to artwork articles. As you may know, what "needs" an infobox is a controversial issue, on which there have been Arbcom rulings. Many people especially object to infoboxes in artwork articles, because they usually result in the lede/only image being far too small, and often the other data given is wrong or inappropriate. Thanks! Johnbod (talk) 15:31, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- LOL. Wow. I had no clue that people actually had ArbCom discussions about infoboxes. Wow. I would figure there would be bigger things to worry about in the world of free knowledge than that. (Says a person who has been putting infoboxes into artwork for ten years :) and never had a revert) Thanks for letting me know. Missvain (talk) 16:23, 11 June 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 23
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Teresa Feoderovna Ries, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Bust and Karl Kraus. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Teresa Feoderovna Ries has been nominated for Did You Know
Hello, Missvain. Teresa Feoderovna Ries, an article you either created or to which you significantly contributed, has been nominated to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page as part of Did you know. Hi, I came by to see if I could nominate this article for WP:DYK. I found copyright violations with word-by-word copying from theartblog source. Please try to avoid copying and close paraphrasing in your future submissions so they are not blanked. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 17:31, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
- User:Yoninah - wow! Trust me, I would never violate our policies on copyright and close paraphrasing, especially after 10 years of editing Wilipedia! I'd id how beer incorrectly move the article from User:Suzwoehrle's sandbox. Please reach out to her regarding your concerns, perhaps she owns that blog? Thanks for editing Wikipedia! And sorry for the confusion! Missvain (talk) 20:30, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
- Well, that's interesting. The article history does not indicate that the article was moved to userspace from User:Suzwoehrle's sandbox, but that it came from you. Maybe there's another way you can upload other people's work next time? I'll add User:Suzwoehrle to the DYK credits. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 20:44, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
- Like I said, I made an error when transferring it from her sandbox to the main space. I've transferred hundreds of articles for users from sandboxes to the article main space and accidents happen on occasion. Cheers. Missvain (talk) 16:41, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Flaithrí Ó Maolchonaire
Hello Missvain, I'd like to correct the spelling in the title of the Wikipedia article: Fláithrí Ó Maol Chonaire
It should read: Flaithrí Ó Maolchonaire
Could you advise me how to do so? The other parts of the article are accessible for editing but the title isn't. Thank you. Infantry sw19 (talk) 12:06, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hi User:Infantry sw19, it has been fixed, see Flaithrí Ó Maolchonaire. The old spelling also redirects to the new spelling. I also fixed it in the infobox. Missvain (talk) 16:43, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

DYK for Teresa Feoderovna Ries
On 11 July 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Teresa Feoderovna Ries, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Teresa Feoderovna Ries' first exhibition at the Vienna Künstlerhaus included a sculpture of a nude witch snipping her toenails, making Ries an overnight sensation? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Teresa Feoderovna Ries. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Teresa Feoderovna Ries), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Re: Images for Harry Jackson article
Hi Missvain. I had pinged you on the Harry Jackson (artist) talk page because you reviewed a previous draft about him. Well, the draft is now in main space and I submitted an edit request to add three fair use images to the article. One editor has responded, "I'm not confident the images will be acceptable since they are not at least fair use". I think this is just because the file pages currently display a warning template because they are fair use but not included in any main space articles at this time. Would you be willing to respond to this edit request by adding these three images to the article?
I've posted an edit request and asked to help at WikiProject Visual arts, but no one has responded and the fair use images are set to be deleted within 2 days if they are not added to the article. I don't think my request is controversial, but I prefer not to edit the article directly given my COI. Thanks for your consideration. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:07, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

Digital Anthropology research
Hello Missvain, My name is Stephanie Barker and I am a student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am currently enrolled in a Digital Anthropology class, which attempts to answer how the digital world affects culture and how culture affects the digital world. For my final project I am doing an ethnography on women Wikipedia users and as a member of the WikiProject Women page I was hoping I could ask you some questions about your experiences editing Wikipedia pages. 1. Have you ever been locked into an intense editing war? If yes, please explain the situation to me. 2. How did you become interested in editing Wikipedia pages and did you have any initial fears/hesitations when you started editing pages? 3. Have you ever been a victim of a mass deletion or other vandalism on Wikipedia? If yes, please explain the situation to me. 4. How would you describe your gender? 5. Is there anything else you would like to share with me about your experiences as a Wikipedia editor? Thank you for taking the time to read this email. I would like you to know that I am only sharing my research with my professor and the other students in my class. If you would like me to send you a copy of my final project, I would be more than happy to! Sincerely, Stelba90 (talk) 00:47, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
WikiProject Wildfire
Hello! I have recently started a new WikiProject and am trying to recruit new members. The project, WikiProject Wildfire, focuses on articles that relate to wildfires. There is a lot of work that needs to be done. From updating templates, to classifying and improving articles. Any level of commitment is welcome! If you care to just add some input on the founding of the new project, awesome. If you would like to take an active role in editing articles, that is awesome as well! Knowledge of wildfires is NOT a prerequisite for joining the project. In fact, it would be great to have some members of the project who are NOT fire-buffs. That way we make sure that articles aren't just written by and for people in the fire community. If this is something you have any interest in, I would love to have you join the project! Please feel free to join the discussion or leave me a message on my talk page. (Note that you are receiving this message from me because I saw you made multiple edits on a wildfire related page, specifically Cuesta Fire. Not just spamming you at random.) Hope you have a great day! Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:10, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
August 2016 Dana Claxton Wikipedia page update
Hello Missvain,
I am responding to the message you left on my talk page regarding the updates I made today (Aug. 3rd, 2016) on Dana Claxton's Wikipedia page. I am Dana Claxton's assistant, so all of the changes that I offered were made by her. I also made sure to provide several quotes from reputable publications as source materials (such as "Canadian Art Magazine", "Backflash Magazine", "The Georgia Straight", or even the different exhibitions/festival websites). Perhaps I did not provide them properly? We are both very keen on seeing some updates, additions, and changes take place, in particular in regards to some erroneous analyses of Dana's works. I'm looking forward to your input on how to resolve this issue. Many thanks! Sorwenes (talk) 22:11, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hi User:Sorwenes! Welcome to Wikipedia. Since you are Claxton's assistant, you actually should not edit her Wikipedia article as that falls under our Conflict of Interest guidelines - you can read about them here. If you wish to have things changed, please request the changes on the talk page of the article - just list what needs changing and reliable secondary sources for each thing you want changed. Then myself and other editors will make the changes to expand the article with updated information, while retaining relevant historical information to the article. We don't want to remove past positions or projects, unless she never held them or never did them, as that would be a disservice to readers wanting to see historical information about Dana Claxton. Thank you! Missvain (talk) 22:16, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
Cold Fire
Forgive me! I reverted your edit to the template because I thought there was no such article... Cold Fire is just a disam page... Then I saw your note about Cold Fire (2016). So I added it back. Sorry!!!! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:20, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- User:Zackmann08 - No big deal. Sorry I named the page wrong :( I didn't know if I should have called it "Cold Fire (wildfire)" or "Cold Fire (2016)" since I couldn't find another fire with the same name. Anyway, all is well now and not a biggie about the template. Do you live in California, too? I live in NorCal so it looks like we'll have CA wildfire coverage down. :) Missvain (talk) 01:23, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- Sall good mate! All part of the learning. Thats actually a good point. I guess it could be either one. Might as well keep it consistent me thinks. I'm down in SoCal myself. The Sherpa Fire was actually right down the road from me. :-p Stay well! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:27, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ben Meiklejohn
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Ben Meiklejohn, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. why is a law firm an unreliable source?
I immigrated to the U.S. legally. It is hard to do. Websites maintained by lawyers were excellent sources of information for me as I navigated through the process. Can you explain why a law firm specializing in advising fashion models for decades in NYC about how to obtain proper visas is not a reliable source worthy of using as a citation in Wikipedia, on a matter that falls specifically into their area of expertise, i.e. is it legal to work without a work visa in the US even if you are not paid for that work?
If whatever a law firm puts on the internet is suspect, why is whatever the photographer who took the recently published controversial photos of Ms Trump says taken to be "reliable"? A photographer who employed undocumented models, if this were the case and if this fact came to the attention of the US Citizenship and Immigration Service, is subject to penalties under US law. Therefore that photographer would have an incentive to come up with a story. Unfortunately for people who think that even if photos place Ms Trump as working in New York in 1995 any problem will go away if the story is she was not being paid, the USCIS takes a dim view of any work done without a work visa paid or unpaid.
It is of interest in an account of Ms Trump's immigration status that someone she worked with in 1995 says he did not pay her, but it is also of interest that lawyers working in New York specializing in advising people like Ms Trump are presently warning all models not to work without a work visa even if its unpaid work. Jrandomcanuck (talk) 02:55, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) A lawyer is also known as an "advocate": their job is to take a particular position, and argue it eloquently and without compromise, to the benefit of their client. A law firm is under no obligation to recognize nuance or to admit that an opposing viewpoint may have merit. We want reliable sources here, without bias or partisanship. An article from a peer-reviewed law journal meets these criteria; a posting on a law firm's website (in other words, an advertisement seeking clients) does not meet our standards. --Orange Mike | Talk 09:14, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

I just discovered
that a category that you had started was deleted. Since I learned this too late I sent the following message to the person who appears to have deleted it.
I just (too little and too late)
discovered the discussion for deleting the category Category:Artworks surveyed by Save Outdoor Sculpture!, which was done mostly, as far as I could tell, because it was not verifiable. Actually (a word the means in my opinion) this is not true. Most, or all of the Save Outdoor Sculpture! material was, and is, collected by the Smithsonian Institute and shows upon their SIRIS website. So if you look at this somewhat randomly selected entry there [[1]] you will find in the "References" section, just like wikipedia, "Save Outdoor Sculpture, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia survey, 1993." Since the main reason for discontinuing the category proves to be false, whats next? Einar aka Carptrash
Is this an issue that you consider worth revisiting? Carptrash (talk) 18:53, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
- I was disappointed to see this category deleted, too, but I figured the folks at categories for discussion knew more about what categories are appropriate for Wikipedia than myself. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:08, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
- I believe that there were three editors who expressed an opinion there. Not (opinion) a huge outpouring of wisdom. Carptrash (talk) 19:47, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Missvain. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
