User talk:Claire.degrazia
Don't bite the newbies! User talk:Claire.degrazia has created a well done article, but it is nominated for deletion, alleging that this user is a student at the subject business school. COI is a good policy, but there should be care taken with newbies. Please take a look. --DThomsen8 (talk) 12:00, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Help with women's national team articles
Hi. I'm working on some women's national team articles on my user space with the intention of taking as many of them as possible to DYK. (Hence the drafting on my user space.) If you have the time, could you help edit the articles listed below? I'd be happy to give you DYK credit for any articles you help improve. :) --LauraHale (talk) 20:25, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Laura! What a feat and task! While sports isn't really my subject area, I'll do my best to contribute to one of these articles. Thanks and good luck. Go team! (bah-du-dum) Sarah (talk) 20:42, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Similar Interests?
Hey! I just wanted to drop by and leave a note for you. I was checking out Wikimania Submissions and was laughing because virtually every one I expressed interest in you were also listed. I know you're local (in DC) and I'd love to meet up if you and any other local Wikipedians are going out sometime. MyNameWasTaken (talk) 20:55, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for coming by, and yes, very cool that we have similar Wikimania tastes :) I'm pretty swamped trying to wrap up school and planning a move across country, but, when I can I do go to meetups. I know the next one is May 5th: Wikipedia:Meetup/DC_31. I do think I'll be able to go, since I'll be done with school just before then. Anyhoo, I'm always down for last minute drinks and/or food even outside of meet-ups, so feel free to ping me on my email this user button and I can always gather some troops for drinks/editing/geeking out (Busboys perhaps!?). Thanks for coming by :) Sarah (talk) 20:47, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Great! I'm on the list for the next meetup for sure, I've had to miss the last several sadly. So, I'll see you then. Also, while I'm here, what's the best way to get involved with the Teahouse? I've been spending a lot of time at WP:HD and C:HM and from what I gather the Teahouse serves a related purpose. I spend most of my time as an ambassador teaching people about WP anyways, so its a natural fit for me :-) MyNameWasTaken (talk) 02:02, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
SIA (was: Priscilla Fairfield Bok)
(replying here since you're more likely to see it)
- Yes, seems a pity. I have a suspicion that she'll turn up in unlabelled photos with Harlow Shapley from the 1920s. Could you please reword the page? As currently worded, it implies that this is additionally a page to request archival searches for subjects that may not immediately show up in the SIA search (given you did just have a whole photo-ID workshop, I was hopeful that this was a way to request the services of SIA archivists...). Iridia (talk) 01:56, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Iridia! A large portion of the content that is in our collection is on our website, so, generally, if we don't find something about Bok on the website, she's most likely not in the collection. I will ask our archivist though tomorrow, promised! And I'll also ask her about Shapley. If they do find anything it'll take a few weeks for things to be scanned, but we'll do our best! I'll keep you posted. Sarah (talk) 01:58, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

5pm Thursday May 3 at the National Cathedral
But 1st you might want to send an encouraging message to User:Ellin Beltz
I don't know if you are still interested, but I'll be meeting with the Spring Flower Show people at the All Hallows Guild Carousel at the above time and place. Please join if you can. Rain date is 9am the following morning, and I may go Friday evening as well to get the carousel in action, with indistinct pictures of kids. I don't like the potential hazards of photographing identifiable kids, so my main thrust will be on the animal figures while the kids aren't there (i.e. Thursday). I also promised you and a couple others dinner - how about that Friday at an old NRHP firehouse in Georgetown, the Vigilant Firehouse (Washington, D.C.)? Smallbones (talk) 15:04, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi SB! Thanks for the heads up about Ellin :( Also, I've put the 5 pm meeting on my calendar. Sounds great about dinner, too! This also might be the last time I see you before I move west, so I look forward to it! Sarah (talk) 20:57, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

My contribution to Wikipedia
Dear Sarah,
Thank you for your invitation.
As you can see on my user page, I am a hobby botanist since my adolescence. My contribution to wikipedia consists mainly of
- uploading correctly identified quality pictures of plants (see:My uploads),
- identifying pictures of plants uploaded by other users, as Ghislain Chenais whom I am mentoring,
- identifying that of Flora Batava, Netherlands (just completed).
Another main interest is Anton Bruckner, for the compositions of whom I have created several wiki-pages and improved the existing ones.
Best regards from Belgium, --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 12:00, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Meneerke bloem! Thanks for sharing your interests and projects. I really do appreciate all of your great contributions - I also like to take photographs of flowers as well, and identifying them is the hardest, sometimes. It looks like we might not have any cross-over right now with my project at the Smithsonian Institution Archives, but, if I come across anything, I will surely keep you posted. We actually have thousands of scientific illustrations of plants that need identifying, but, alas, they are not scanned at this point (and probably won't be for quite sometime!). But, if you're ever in Washington and want to lend a hand onsite - do let me know! Sarah (talk) 15:02, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Articles for creation/Paturi Sitaramanjaneyulu: Review request
Sarah, Could please review my article and let me know what I could od to improve it.
Thanks, Sri Sri pusuluri (talk) 13:23, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Sri! I'll give you some feedback on your talk page. Thanks for coming by. It also looks like you went to the AfC Help Desk, which is surely the best place to go. But I'll do my best to give you come constructive advice too :) Sarah (talk) 15:04, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Sarah, Thanks a lot for taking time to review my article. I will definitely make changes according to your suggestions. Sitaramanjaneyulus’s wife, though not famous is a very important person in his life. Most of the people who knew him in person know his wife and her influence on his works. So I would like to mention a few lines about her. Regarding the references and citations could you please confirm that what I got so far are acceptable to make the article public. Thanks, Sri Sri pusuluri (talk) 16:07, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Sri! Oh, I think it's great that you want to mention his wife, for sure! I took a look at the links - the problem is that they are only for his books. For the article to make it through AfC (I think, I don't to reviews there, so, I might be a bad person to ask :) ) it'll need to have reliable secondary sources, and the sources don't have to be in English. Sources that I'm referring to are from newspapers, magazines, books - but they CANNOT be related to Paturi Sitaramanjaneyulu, they can't have been written by him or published by anyone related to him. Just searching in English I'm having bad luck, but, perhaps in his name language you might have some luck. I hope this helps! SarahStierch (talk) 16:16, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
I did mention an article written by Samavedan Shanmukha sarma. Also the other reference is regarding his award there is a link. Is that Enough. How many sources do I need to provide. Sri pusuluri (talk) 16:21, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- I hate to say it - but as many as you can? Right now, it just appears like original research, which we can't have on Wikipedia :( SarahStierch (talk) 16:22, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- And do keep in mind - it's also up to the individual reviewer. I don't review the articles for AfC, so perhaps my thoughts don't matter, but, the more references the better :) SarahStierch (talk) 16:23, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Sarah, Just to give you an idea of my strugle. Paturi Sitaramanjaneyulu a researcher . But he did not strive for fame he had a lot of quest for knowledge. Did not try to get into the crowd. But each of one of his works were historic linguistics works. I am in US and do not have access to any local magazines where I could find articles on Paturi. I tried to provide as much information as I could from online. I will keep trying to get more references. Sri Paturi’s areas of expertise include not limited to Mathematics, Astrology decryption of Hindu mantras based on the mathematical encryptions . Sri pusuluri (talk) 16:49, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- I understand your struggle! I frequently write about researchers as well, and sometimes I just have to step back and say "Looks like I'll have to hold this article in my sandbox until I find more resources," and I move along for the time being. If you have time to peruse, a good place to determine if your subject is "notable" enough to be in Wikipedia is here: Academics notability - this was developed to help people determine if academic subjects are notable enough to be in Wikipedia. I hope this helps, and if it doesn't seem to meet these guidelines, we might not be able to have an article on him at this time :( SarahStierch (talk) 16:54, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Sarah, For now I would like to move it to my Sand box and bring it for review once I have more references I guess. Thanks for your supportive words. I will keep working on it. Sri pusuluri (talk) 17:06, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Thank you
Thank you Sarah for your invitation to join the volunteers in the Smithsonian Institution Archives project. I am very happy to have joined the project. Hopefully I will be able to help in some way. All the best. Figaro (talk) 06:09, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Teahouse invitation template
Hi. I'm not sure what is the template you used for a Teahouse invitation at User talk:Chocolate.social but, as you can see, it puzzled the user because it doesn't actually contain a link to the Teahouse. Maybe this has been fixed, because the two templates I can see now, {{Teahouse invitation}} and {{Teahouse invitation TW}}, do have links, but I thought I would mention it in case there is another that still doesn't. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 08:59, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks John. It was an operator error - I was utilizing a cut and paste template for a few specific "cases" (not worth explaining why) and I noticed a few didn't have links (go figure what the heck I did!) and I went back and fixed them - but failed to fix that one, and hopefully that is the only one. Thank you for lending a hand with the new editor and letting me know so I can go clean up any messes I made. I've been having some rough luck with templates lately..! :) SarahStierch (talk) 12:45, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- No worries, as long as the general templates have links. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 14:00, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Many Thanks!
Your review of my starter page is much appreciated! Will attempt to puzzle out best routes to upgrading the thing, for while Lord Acton's adage 'If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing well' is axiomatically true, I'm a big fan of G.K. Chesterton's paradoxical corollary, 'If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.' If I can conceptualize my question(s) succinctly, I'd broach it (or them) at the Teahouse. Thanks again!Onundtreefoot (talk) 20:23, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Follow up on 64
Would it be useful to have this username list? I come away with the impression more training is needed. Is there a welcome template that can make cheat sheets and all easily accessible? It should include Teahouse info and link. KSRolph (talk) 22:32, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi KS. Are you talking about letting admins know about the students so this doesn't happen again? I'm not sure who you'd have to inform about the students usernames. It'd probably be a good idea to maybe talk with folks at the Wikipedia:Global Education Program (I'm not sure if they are strictly for colleges, but, it'd be worth reaching out to them). Let me know if you want me to introduce you via email to people. If you are referring to me having access to the students usernames, that'd be great, so I can greet them with the Teahouse welcome template. Unfortunately at this time we're not able to add the Teahouse link to any of the welcome templates. We can create our own, but, we're avoiding utilizing heavy text blocks with excessive links. Feel free to post the list and I'll invite them if you'd like! SarahStierch (talk) 22:38, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Florence Meier Chase article review
Hi Sarah! I know it has been a while since we last touch base on this article (User:TheBlueWizard/Florence Meier Chase), but I would like to push it out to the main space soon. So I cleaned it up, wikified it even more, added inline citations, etc. I hope it is good enough, so can you take a look at it? Since I got autoconfirmed a long time ago, I technically could move it to the main space all by myself, but I think it would be a good idea to put it into AfC submission (as if I'm a newbie editor), though I am a bit vague on how to do that. Hopefully that would become my second new article. Thanks for your time! --TheBlueWizard (talk) 22:51, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

- One quick addendum: After picking a few articles at (semi-)random without luck, I found an example (certainly not the one I have in mind, but it will do): Joseph Whipple Congdon Hope this helps. Also, there may be an article linked from WP:Manual of Style which discusses how publication naming should be done...hmm...don't have time to dig through the links tonight (it's almost time to log off WP tonight). Welcoming blocked editors
Hi Sarah, apologies if someone else has already brought this to your attention, but would you mind not welcoming blocked editors? Aside from any question as to whether we want to encourage blocked editors, there is a real risk that a welcome and come to the Teahouse template could be seen as sarcastic when dropped on the talkpage of someone who is currently blocked. Cheers ϢereSpielChequers 10:41, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- "Where seldom is heard an encouraging word..." keep on welcoming everyone, including blocked editors. has anyone complained of 'sarcasm'? rather we have the complaints of the vindictive, who can't stomach diplomacy rather than target acquisition, and target suppression. perhaps an FAQ is required. Slowking4⇔ †@1₭ 11:48, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- If you do want to welcome blocked editors why not add words to the effect of "when your block expires" or "when you've resolved those issues and been unblocked". That would make it clear that they are welcome at the Teahouse, just as soon as they've been unblocked. ϢereSpielChequers 12:04, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- how much investigation do you want teahouse to do in its thousands of welcomes? do you want to caveat the welcome to everyone, so that the blocked are still on notice? what is the percentage of blocked editors welcomed - less than .1%? it's astonishing to me how being nice to editors can be criticised. a dialogue needs to be established, beyond the mindless warnings, if you want editors to improve. - To be fair, the editor wasn't formally blocked until shortly after the invitation had been placed in their talk page. But a quick glance at the top of their talk page before placing the invitation would have indicated that this editor waa neither "new" nor "promising" but a sock puppet of an editor blocked for repeated copyright violations and violating WP's policy on biographies of living person. - This was absolutely an accident. At this point, I have invited over 2,000 editors to the Teahouse, and I think I've been pinged about now inviting two blocked users. So I must say, I'm not doin' too bad :) But, it's always great to get a reminder about this - as it reminds me not to invite users when I'm half asleep or not in the right mindset. And while I do believe that people can "repent" to become great editors - some are also a lost cause. Thanks all! SarahStierch (talk) 14:37, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- One easy way of making sure you aren't inviting a blocked user is to add importScript("User:PleaseStand/userinfo.js"); to your user JavaScript (vector.js, monobook.js, common.js etc.): this will pop up a line of information about the user when you are looking at their user or user talk page. For instance, for you it says "An autopatrolled user, 5 years 11 months old, with 40,116 edits. Last edited 1 minute ago." (It also puts a male or female symbol next to their username which is also quite handy.) For blocked users, it'll say "A blocked autoconfirmed user..." etc. —Tom Morris (talk) 16:20, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

- Don't worry about the non-Firefox thing. I use Firefox and it works just fine.

- Yep, I've just granted you rollback. The new article feedback tool gives certain privileges to experienced users, and uses rollback to decide that. I figure that it might be useful as part of Teahouse. If there are any other experienced Teahouse folk who might need it, you might want to suggest that they get rollback before the new AFT launches as I'm sure they'd be invaluable in helping manage the AFT comments. —Tom Morris (talk) 16:36, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks Sarah, and well done for welcoming so many editors. I certainly wasn't objecting to the welcoming of editors who've got off to a bad start, its just that personalising such welcomes makes it clear they aren't sarcasm. Usually when I welcome someone I've already interacted with them, if only by categorising or otherwise tweaking an article they've just written, and I rarely see a need to personalise such welcomes. I do wonder whether editors perceive templated welcomes from people they've otherwise not-interacted with as less of a personal welcome, though I have to admit it years before I realised that the person who welcomed me was probably doing so in a semiautomated way.
- One group you might consider looking at for your teahouse project are blocked newbies who've made goodfaith edits. A bot writer should be able to produce a report of editors who have less than 100 edits, are currently blocked and who have a non-reverted edit in mainspace (the last maybe difficult, but it should be possible at least to code for there being a mainspace article where they are the most recent contributor). Howabout a template that said something along the lines of "sorry to see you've got off to a difficult start here, when you've got yourself unblocked please come and visit us at the Teahouse, perhaps we can help you make better sense of this place." Problem with the article (deletion request...)
Hi Sarah! I submitted the article and it got approved and placed in the main space by User:Zach Vega! But I realized I made a big mistake in doing so...see my response in my user talk page describing my mistake. According to Zach Vega's talk page, he is watching my user talk, but I don't see any sign of his taking any action. How do I best get this fixed? Should I wait, or what? Seamus photo
A discussion has arisen about the validity of the copyright of a photo of Seamus, the dog of Mitt Romney. I believe that you issued the permission ticket for this photo based on e-mails that I sent you from Scott Crider, who had the photo on his website (Dogs Against Romney). A question has come up about whether we have to verify that Scott Crider had the right to give Wikipedia permission to use the photo. I cannot find anything in Wikipedia's image use policy discussing this level of verification, but I thought that you might have some comments about this issue. Thanks. - Seamus photo discussion
- Hi Debbie. Sounds like a question that might be a little in and over my head to ask. Right now I'm taking a long-term break (the OTRS team is aware) due to my work-load in other areas (including two jobs and school!). If all else fails: it's really good to get permission for any photo even if you don't think you have too. As I've found myself doing so, just to cover my butt. And perhaps I was in the wrong for accepting it, but, I did handle about 300+ photo submissions and permissions that week, trying to clear out backlog. While I wish I could provide a set answer, a good place to ask for input would be at the Teahouse, which is a new friendly help space for editors of all experience levels. Usually if I can't figure it out, someone there can. Good luck with Seamus! Sarah (talk) 13:28, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Sarah--thanks for inviting me to the Teahouse. I was doing OK with introducing myself until I got to the avatar part, where I thought I'd use an actual photo of myself. Seemed I couldn't upload anything unless I set up a Wikimedia Commons account, so I did that, but it's not like I want to put my picture up for all to see. I did put in a file name after Image: and I clicked on "Save Page," but since my self-introduction hasn't appeared I assume I must have done something wrong. What can you suggest?
BTW, my interests are pretty similar to yours. I'm a retired museum professional interested in American art, specifically historic California art and Anne Bremer, the woman artist I've submitted an article about twice. I used to transcribe oral histories for the Archives of American Art. I might be interested in getting involved in GLAM in some way, or other art-related wiki projects. I live in the SF Bay Area.
Ann Harlow, alias HarZim (talk) 23:31, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Ann! Thank you for coming by my talk page! Welcome to Wikipedia. Perhaps you can link me to the image you were hoping to use? It's good that you created a Commons account, I'm actually very active there. I upload almost all of the images I take there for the world to use! Pretty cool to see images you've taken when traveling or around town illustrating articles on Wikipedia. It's also helpful for uploading public domain images of artworks or people you find, or stumble across.
- I'm delighted to know you're a retired museumist! Even cooler that you've transcribed oral history for AAA - I've probably read a few of your transcriptions and perhaps even used them in articles. I will be moving to the Bay Area in June, actually. Related to that - I'd be delighted to meet if you ever did desire to do so, and I'm also co-planning a bi-monthly women's edit-a-thon event at the Wikimedia Foundation headquarters in San Francisco. The next one will be June 16 at the Foundation, I'll be sure to share information with you when we announce it. You're welcome to message me here, or email me if you wish (just see the Email this User button on the left side of the menu). Thanks again for coming by, I'm so glad you're here! Sarah (talk) 20:38, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Sarah, I've put the June 16 edit-a-thon on my calendar and will look forward to meeting you. I'm interested in GLAM but am not clear on whether it's only aimed at people currently working in museums. I've gone ahead and beefed up the Oakland Museum of California entry and thought I'd see if they'd be interested in having me as a Wikipedian in Residence. Should I pursue that before you get to town or wait? AnnHarZim (talk) 05:55, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Ann, glad you have it on the calendar, I'll have an event page on Wikipedia soon. GLAM is not currently focused on people working specifically at museums. You can learn more about how you can get involved in GLAM here: Wikipedia:GLAM/US. You're welcome to start investigating opportunities with the Oakland museum whenever you wish, no need to wait for me, per se. I hear that's a great museum. Also, a good person to introduce yourself to is LoriLee, she's the United States Cultural Partnerships Fellow who can help coordinate partnerships. While I'm happy to help, the next few months are pretty swamped with other things for me. When I'm in the Bay Area, I'm happy to help with meetings as my schedule allows, but, it's best not to wait on me as my schedule is hectic. Sarah (talk) 13:56, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Richard Bleckwelder
Hello Sarah Would anyone in the Smithsonian library be able to tell me how many editions of Richard Bleckwelder's Taxonomy; A text and reference book New York, John Wiley were printed and in which years.Even better the print run. I was wondering about this Accepted AfC. Even though there are two references, only one is used as an inline citation, so it seems to lack enough references. Shearonink (talk) 05:15, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- According to the AfC documentation I read about accepting articles, it seemed okay to accept articles (especially for a notable, dead historical figure, so to say) that can easily be fixed or have content added to it and citations, etc. Perhaps I'm in error? Of course, it does have the appropriate article tag on it, and there are many more articles on Wikipedia that need just as much help that did not go through this process. I think it's okay to be accepted! Lord knows there are more that get declined than accepted! Thanks for coming by my talk page! :) Sarah (talk) 05:18, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- I guess I'm puzzled as to why you Accepted this AfC and then tagged it as needing more references. Shearonink (talk) 05:32, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Because the AfC acceptance guide states that you should tag things appropriately. Since the figure is no longer living, and most of the content seems uncontroversial. Besides, it just needed more inline citations and has a few things still needing some citations. I don't think there is a rule against how many or how few citations are needed for an article, despite the more the merrier :) Sarah (talk) 05:34, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Looks a lot better now, was just wondering why it was tagged before fixing but lots of refs added since so it's all good. Shearonink (talk) 05:38, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

- Hi there. Everything we have about him is located here. If you see anything, we might able to provide content from it, but, I can't promise (as it costs a good penny to digitize content and not all of SIA's content is being digitized at this time). I don't know anything in the collection that has a list, per se, without having to go through all of the content in all of his collections to gather it. I will be honest: I don't think a list like that is encyclopedic, perhaps a short paragraph about just a few people he influenced would be valuable, or specific cited facts would be useful about partnerships and relationships he had, but, to me, a list like that is well..just a list that doesn't really show how he influenced any of those people. But, I'm not my Wikipedians keeper :) Oh, and regarding adding citations, the following links on the SIA (not SIL) have biographical data that can be used for citations: [4][5][6][7][8] - Stay warm! Hi Sarah,
File:Fés (MA).JPG shows that you nominated it for deletion via MFD. However, the MFD page was then deleted at your request. So right now, the file is still up for deletion (because of the nomination) but there's nowhere to discuss it, and no rationale for the deletion.
I think the thing to do is for you to revert your nomination (I would do it, but I'm not sure what the story is). After that, if you want the file to be deleted, your best bet is to re-submit it via WP:FFD (depending on the rationale). If you don't want the file to be deleted, then you don't have to do anything else. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 23:49, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Review of proposed Golfscript page: more details?
Hello, I saw the notification you left on my talk page that you had reviewed and rejected a proposed article on the Golfscript programming language. I was a little disappointed that the reviewer comments were simply "This submission is not suitable for Wikipedia. Please read 'What Wikipedia is not' for more information". This seems rather vague and generic, and directing me to a very long list of things that "Wikipedia is not" has not made your specific objections to the article more obvious. Could you please give some more detail on why you think the article is not suitable for Wikipedia? I'm not particularly attached to the subject, but having spent a little time writing the article I'd appreciate more than "this is not suitable". Destynova (talk) 00:35, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Re: A barnstar for you! ... and it's your fault!
Thank you, Sara. I feared annoying more experienced Teahouse hosts while trying to help. I asked a simple question; you answered simply rather than sending me to a confusing, intimidating page. They're becoming less confusing and intimidating, by the way. I went to your page out of curiosity which led to GLAM that led to SIA that led to their ToDo list. Wait, Herbert Friedmann? Where'd I see that before? Oh, when I researched Brown-headed Cowbirds after an Orchard Oriole nest that I was observing and photographing was parasitized, I referred to his best known book (the updated 1985 edition, his last published work). So I went to Friedmann's page and found a tiny stub. While learning more about him to expand the article, I searched for awards that he received and found another stub on William Brewster. I couldn't leave that stub a stub. A few minutes of research netted enough material for a book-length biography, all in the public domain because of its age. What!? No article on the Nuttall Ornithological Club, the oldest group in this hemisphere devoted to ornithology, the predecessor to the American Ornithologists' Union, the... And the Nuttall Club is still active almost 140 years later and there's no article? It's your fault. I'm infected with the dreaded Wikipe virus, doomed to spend the remainder of my life poking at a keyboard, adding brackets around simple words and phrases, expanding and creating articles in an ever widening circle, and... Gad, is there no cure? You may soon find me begging for one in the Teahouse. DocTree (talk) 01:03, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Sarah, What are the reliable resources then? News paper Articles? This article is about a model I thought website of the most famous Fashion week in India can be the reliable source. Facebook links I had put as an External Link. The references are from different online articles from different sites including news papers. Any advice how to make it more reliable? Thanks in advance!

- Hi Razia. I can't find any reasonable reliable sources. For example, this would be an article about Khanna in Men's Vogue or an interview he has done with a major fashion magazine in India. Unfortunately, we don't have articles like that then he "fails" our notability guidelines at this time. You can read a bit more about that here: WP:Notability. We might just have to wait until he is more famous before he gets an article. You can always ask for more help at the Teahouse. Sorry :( Do consider writing perhaps about other models who might be more famous at this time? Sarah (talk) 13:10, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Either fix it on your own and move(accept) it, tag it with wikify and accept it, or find a valid decline reason. mabdul 13:53, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Article about Pervasive PSQL
Hello Sarah,
I am baffled by your rejection of this article. You said it required references that were not from the company that created the database software that was the subject of the article. I raise the following points:
- If you look through the list of references, you will see a number of third party sources included (online computer publications, online business publications).
- Only techical information was derived from company sources. Where would one get detailed technical information about the contents of a software application except from the company that created the software? Third-party sources don't provide technical details; they discuss technology in a general way but don't provide the kind of specifics (utilities, interfaces, etc.) that I included in the article.
- Before I wrote this article, I reviewed several other Wikipedia articles about similar software (MySQL, MS SQL Server). The vast majority of the footnotes for those articles were internal (Oracle, MySQL website, Microsoft, etc.).
- All information about customers and uses came from third-party sources.
- I included a section entitled "See Also" that listed about 15 additional sources. All were third-party sources, including two books published by outside publishers.
Help me out here. I don't know where to go next with this article. Handworks (talk) 15:08, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
resubmission
Please see the revised re-submission with citations following wikipedia standard. I apologize for the previous version, i followed the citation format of a certain value. I'll correct this value when i get a chance.
Also, i would like to upload some pictures for this value, can you please allow it? thanks, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iflyingwolf (talk • contribs) 16:36, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there. Just resubmit the article and we will all get around to reviewing it soon. Thanks! Sarah (talk) 17:26, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Help Articles_for_creation/Switchback
Hi Sarah. I'm not sure what other information we can provide. I've looked at a dozen other small lit journals and I don't see how we are providing any less reliable resources than they are. Can you please advise? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Awhitenoisemaker (talk • contribs) 17:23, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there. I'm pretty swamped this second, but, perhaps drop by the Teahouse and I think a group of us there might be able to provide some input. Just stop by here: WP:Teahouse. I'm sort of stuck on what else to do too, and I'm not sure if there is much else we can do, so I think if we can put our heads together there something much come out of it. For your recent dedication to reviewing Articles for Creation. AfC is a thankless task and I like to make sure that when new reviewers commit to the project, that their efforts are rewarded. Keep up the good work :-) Pol430 talk to me 17:53, 27 April 2012 (UTC) |
Hi Sarah, you appear to have left a message on Capitalia (talk · contribs)'s talk page about rejecting this AfC, however, you have not actually reviewed the article or marked it as being rejected. Capitalia came into the IRC help channel just now asking about this. If you could get into contact with them and explain the situation, that would be great. Thanks, - Kingpin13 (talk) 18:32, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Done Weird! Thanks Kingpin! Sarah (talk) 21:04, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Are you interested in cemeteries?
See ya, (Hungarian for hello)
I heard you might be interested in cemeteries. If so you might check out the Congressional Cemetery and List of burials and cenotaphs at the Congressional Cemetery. Nothing beyond the very preliminary yet, but I'm trying to get something started which I've discussed at WT:QR. BTW I hope to see you May 3rd at the cathedral.
Hello (Hungarian for good-bye)

- Cool idea. I'm not a big QRcode fanatic, I have to admit. Right now I'm wrapping up school and planning a move and working, so I'm not sure how much input I'll be able to provide, especially since I won't be in the DC area again until the week of Wikimania. Cool idea though, and Congressional is pretty cool. Rock Creek is still my favorite though. I've actually photographed all of the Save Outdoor sculpture! works there. AfC
Hello ma'am. I had my page /GreaterElephant reviewed but declined due to 'notability' issues. Well, I had links to the sites which covered the 'film' winning an award at a film festival in New York, links to the trailer of the film etc. My previous film also has a wiki page. I've anyway re-submitted with more verifiable links. Do review them when you get time. Thank you :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thevaas (talk • contribs) 08:44, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there. We actually need better citations than the IMDB content. Unfortunately, IMDB is not considered reliable sources for Wikipedia because it's user generated content. I'd assume there is more news coverage than just IMDB talking about the film? If so, please add that content and resubmit. Thanks! Sarah (talk) 12:23, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
R.m Beattie article for creation
Hi
I don't quite understand what you mean with your comments on the article rejection, does the subject not warrant an article, as based on the academics notability criteria I think 3 of the bullet points are met when only one is required for notability worthy of an article. Or do I just need more references in the article to prove the claims that have been made, what sort of references should I use?
Thank you for your feedback T.B Thomas Beattie (talk) 12:17, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi T.B. Yes, we do need additional citations that aren't related to his place of business, so, newspaper and magazine articles, journal articles about him or that extensively cite his work, awards, etc. If someone is as "notable" as they say they should have that type of coverage. Thanks for asking and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Additional questions, feel free to stop by the Teahouse, since I'll be traveling this week! Sarah (talk) 12:18, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
The person in question is not referenced in any news articles because the field he works in, gastointestinal medicine, is not a widely media covered subject. He is editor of the leading UK paediatrics journal and the head of the main academics society in the field of paediatric gastroenterology, his book series also falls within another criteria set out by the Guidelines for academics that you linked in your edit. He meets criteria 4, 6 and 8 of those notability guidelines.
For the citations point you made how do you reference extensively cited works? Newspapers and magazines do not write about topics such as this.
I understand your point but it is difficult to reference someone who works in a field which is not heavily covered in the media.
Thank you again T.B Thomas Beattie (talk) 12:36, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
WikiTalk: Alberta Municipal Government Board
Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your feedback!
I am still a bit vague on things of an inherently local importance, as the 100+ administrative tribunals across Canada would invariably be. Wikipedia is strewn with stub entries on things like local high schools and Japanese highways and so forth, with hardly any external citations. Should I be reporting these for deletion? Would you recommend a page on "Administrative Tribunals in Alberta" which would have a larger encatchment than one of them individually?
As for sources, can I be citing from print materials (older newspapers) or online legal cases? I haven't seen these often. Would prominent cases reported in local newspapers be sufficient?
Do you have any comment on COI re my submission? Wiki doesn't address government employees writing about their governments. I work for one specific tribunal and I have nothing to do with the work some 21000 other so-called co-employees do for the Alberta Government. What would the policy indicate my 'organization' to be - the government as a whole, or the tribunal specifically?
Thanks for your time.

How to get "This article may require cleanup" notice removed after cleanup done?
Hi Sarah. Thank you for the kind welcome and the invitation to the Teahouse. I asked this question at the Teahouse, but figured it might help (and would do no harm) to ask you also. I created my first article on Mariwan Halabjaee. After I created the article, it was flagged with the notice "This article may require cleanup to meet Wikipedia's quality standards. (Consider using more specific cleanup instructions.) Please help improve this article if you can. The talk page may contain suggestions. (April 2012)" The notice did not contain any specific instructions or suggestions. No instructions or suggestions were placed on the talk page. (Indeed, no talk page has been created.) Nonetheless, after the page received the "cleanup" notice, I: (1) added section headings and a table of contents; (2) bundled the citations to make the text more readable and eliminate clutter per Wikipedia:Citing sources#Bundling citations; (3) added the official website; (4) added citations in support; (5) added the most recent news from February 2012; and (6) generally tried to cleanup the article. My question is, how does one get the "cleanup" notice / tag removed? Is that something I can do? Do I ask someone to do it? Is more cleanup necessary? Thank you for any assistance you can provide. - Just wanted to let you know that my question was answered in the Teahouse. Again, thanks! - CharlesRChapman (talk) 02:57, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
