Horace Griffin

[edit]

Horace Griffin was a gay man who was a minister. On the Wikipedia page there is only a few sentences about Griffin. It only states that he was an author, gay, and a minister. It does not have the usual sections that a biography on Wikipedia would have. Looking up the topic there are multiple sources that can be used and the Xavier library has a few books about him. This relates to class because we talked about how some people have multiple identities and the challenges that they go through It would be interesting to learn his story and the trials he went through.

I like this topic because it is interesting and relates to our discussions in the course. I feel like this would be a good article to expand because you have found multiple sources to expand it. His wikipedia page is not long, so there would be a lot of information for you to add. Great article choice and good luck!Tajonnm (talk) 16:38, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Andrew Bryan

[edit]

Andrew Bryan founded the first Bryan baptist church. On the Wikipedia page there is only two paragraphs on him without the sections that a biography usually has. They have some information on him but not as much as other biographies. There are some books in the Xavier library about him and there are resources online. It would be interesting to find out how the baptist church was formed and how he accomplished it. This relates to class because because it show the struggles a black man has to have when establishing something due to multiple identities.

African American folktales

[edit]

African American folktales is the storytelling of African American culture. On the Wikipedia page it's only a general Statement about African American folktales. There are multiple resources to use. It would be interesting to know some of the folktales and how they got established but it may be a general topic. this relates to class because if floktales are learned about then the african american culture can be spread.

This is a good proposal. I have a general idea that folktales stemmed from Africa and slavery, but would like to learn more about how the folktales are incorporated in our country.Briannahouston (talk) 21:45, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
