Disambiguation link notification for December 2
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Guillermo Reynaldo Cortez, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Captain (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

GOCE November drive wrap-up
Guild of Copy Editors November 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Thanks to all who participated! Out of 38 people who signed up this drive, 33 copy-edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. All the barnstars have now been distributed. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing November and December 2011 from the backlog. For the first time since the drives began, the backlog consists only of articles tagged in the current year. We completed all 56 requests outstanding before November 2012 as well as eight of those made in November. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the October 2012 competition, and prizes have been issued. The November 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The December 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote. Coodinator election: The six-month term for our fourth tranche of Guild coordinators will expire at the end of December. - Hi Miniapolis, quick question but are you conducting the GA review for the Watch here? I'm just asking because I don't know if it auto fails if it isn't passed so long after the review page is opened. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 03:57, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi again, Dark. It's been nominated, but I'm new to GAN and didn't know I was the designated reviewer (and don't know if copyediting counts as a "significant contribution", although I don't think it does). About all that's left to do is to check the refs, which I'll start after work today. Sorry for the delay and all the best, Miniapolis (talk) 14:52, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the time to do that Miniapolis. Yeah when you edit that GA page it automatically assumes you are the reviewer. Take care. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 02:57, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Rashid Girgis Semaan
Hi,
It is my first time I post an article on Wikipedia. Rashid Girgis Semaan died longtime ago and as an honor to him a poet in my hometown of Mieh Mieh Lebanon, Dr. Munif Moussa, wrote an article about Rashid. This article was translated into English and was posted on Miehwmieh.com website by Dr. Charles Bousaba (my cousin). I included the source at the bottom what more should I do? I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,

SDSA entry
Hi Miniapolis,
I'm a senior biology major in college, and was required to complete a Wikipedia entry as an assignment. We simply had to submit it by the deadline and send our professor the screenshot of it, but in order to ultimately get any credit for this assignment we have to make sure it's submitted and actually uploaded onto Wikipedia. Sorry for the long preamble, but I was wondering more specifically in what ways you think I should provide more context to make it more accessible to the general reader. Should I give more of the background that is found in the entry for "Homologous Recombination"? If that's the case then I can certainly do that, but I just wanted to make sure I was making the necessary changes when I resubmit the article.
Thanks! Amber — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pillowymarshmallows (talk • contribs) 00:27, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, Amber...I came to your article as a non-scientist holder of a bachelor's degree, and had trouble understanding it. The first sentence of Homologous recombination gives the reader some idea that the article is about genetics (although the featured-article nomination discussion is interesting, with questions raised about whether that article is too technical). I think the first sentence of your article should indicate that it concerns genetics; wikilinks are very useful also in making a technical article accessible to the general reader. In the meantime, I took a second look at the article, tweaked the opening sentence and moved it into article space. At Articles for Creation we see a very broad spectrum of articles, from shameless self-promotion to...well, scientific treatises :-). While I disagree with the view that all articles should be at a 12-year-old's level, I like to understand what I read; however, that's just my opinion—Homologous recombination is a good article, and I hope Synthesis-dependent strand annealing (SDSA) will be too (the overcapitalization in the refs looks a bit shouty, but that's easily fixed). Enjoy the rest of your senior year and all the best, Miniapolis (talk) 02:58, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
