Your article Rhodesia 1979-1980
[edit]Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia! I have proposed that your recently created article Rhodesia 1979 - 1980 be deleted. This material is already covered substantially in the articles Rhodesia & Rhodesian Bush War. You may consider adding information to those articles, especially Rhodesian Bush War, instead of creating a new article. --Natalie 18:34, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I think your addition was substantially a repeat of the Kiwi ingenuity section. If you don't agree, feel free to revert, but if possible explain the different a little bit more.-gadfium 02:12, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Mike Subritzky. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Your userpage
[edit]I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your user page, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's user page policy, in particular because the page seems largely unrelated to your activities on Wikipedia. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here? I'd appreciate hearing your views, such as your reasons for wanting this particular page and any alternatives you might accept.
There are several options available for resolving this matter:
- If you can relieve my concerns through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If you decide to delete the page yourself, please add
{{Db-userreq}}
to the top of the page in question and an administrator will delete it. - If the two of us can't agree on what needs to be done, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's user pages for discussion, which may result in the page in question being deleted.-gadfium 09:24, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Red Links
[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In your recent edit to Kusza Coat of Arms, you added links to an article which did not add content or meaning, or repeated the same link several times throughout the article. Please see Wikipedia's guideline on links to avoid overlinking. Thank you.

using inline references
[edit]Hello, I see that you dropped a huge list of sources at the Kusza Coat of Arms article. If you look at this edit, you will notice that I have inlined one of the sources, and added another one.
For those sources that you added using specific sources, it would be very good if you could go thorught them one by one, wrapping them in <ref></ref> tags, and placing them right after the fact that they are sourcing. They will appear automatically at the list that is created by the <references /> that I placed.
Please make sure that it's very clear what facs are being sourced by what source. You don't need to use the "cite web" template that I used, you can just use the references just like they are now. If you want to use a template for citing, then use {{cite book}}. I include an example of how to use it:
<ref name="bison_31">{{cite book | title = The medieval Crown of Aragon. A short story | chapter = II. The age of the Early Count-Kings (1137-1213) (The Principate of Ramon Berenguer IV 1137-1162) | year = 1986 | editor = Clarendon Press - Oxford | authorlink = T.N. Bisson | page = 31 | language = english | accessdate = 2008-05-03 }}</ref>
And then you can use <ref name="bison_31" /> to reuse the reference again anywhere on the article. The wiki software will automatically group them. Make sure you don't use the same name for different sources, because it causes some of the references not be displayed properly. --Enric Naval (talk) 02:39, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- Look at this edit for how the inline references are done --Enric Naval (talk) 14:51, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Royal new zealand fencibles
[edit]This article is a small segment from the book "The Royal New Zealand Fencibles 1847-1852" ISBN: 0-473-04716-0, Copyright The New Zealand Fencible Society (Inc) it is not from Lesley, she has simply used the same source material.
- If you want to re-create the article, then you will have to indicate which is the source material that you used and how to find it. --Enric Naval (talk) 19:46, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Royal new zealand fencibles, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~rhaslip/Lesley/fencibles.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 08:03, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on File:New Zealand Special Service Medal - Erebus ribbon.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

Linking
[edit]When linking to Wikipedia articles, don't link to the url. Instead, surround the article name with double square brackets and don't use underscores. For example:
- Incorrect - [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/28th_Infantry_Brigade_(United_Kingdom) 28th (ANZUK) Field Regiment]]
- Correct - [[28th Infantry Brigade (United Kingdom)]]
Please note that when linking to sites external to Wikipedia, single brackets should be used:
- Incorrect - [[http://www.microsoft.com Microsoft]]
- Correct - [http://www.microsoft.com Microsot]
Also, external links should not normally be included in the main body of an article, as they are in Kusza Coat of Arms. Instead they should be in the "External links" section, which should not include links to Wikipedia articles. Further information may be found at Wikipedia:Linking and Wikipedia:External links. --AussieLegend (talk) 10:07, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:Anzac Day 2.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Anzac Day 2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. AussieLegend (talk) 12:17, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Vermont medal
[edit]When searching the web myself, I could find no good description other than a list of colors for the Vermont Veterans Medal. Where did you find the detailed description of the Vermont Distinguished Service Medal's ribbon? Does it just share colors with the VVM, or do they share a common ribbon, with only the medals metal (bronze/silver) distinguishing them? Many thanks —MJBurrage(T•C) 17:07, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
File:Air New Zealand Flight 901.jpg Nominated for Deletion
[edit]An image you uploaded, File:Air New Zealand Flight 901.jpg, has been nominated for deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: I have serious doubts that the uploader is the copyright holder. The first image uploaded was a small image, which someone else has overwritten with a larger image found on the net. This is the main indication that the uploader is not copyright holder. This photo is available at http://newzeelend.wordpress.com/2008/11/28/air-new-zealand-flying-coffin-crashes-in-the-mediterranean/ in a much larger resolution. russavia (talk) 08:02, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

A discussion is now taking place over on Commons (at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Air New Zealand Flight 901.jpg) about whether to remove the file. If you feel the deletion can be contested then please do so. Otherwise consider finding a replacement image before deletion occurs. --Avenue (talk) 01:32, 27 May 2011 (UTC) |

Orphaned non-free image File:O'DowdArms.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:O'DowdArms.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:24, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
