Spong Hill
[edit]Dear Midnightblueowl
I would very much like to use your photograph of Spong Hill for the front cover of our forthcoming monograph on excavations at the site. Please could you contact me at dak12@cam.ac.uk to discuss this further. Many thanks and best wishes Dora Kemp (talk)
Gerald Gardner
[edit]Why does the Gerald Gardner updates you make consistently refuse to recognise his role in the establishment of the theory of social imperialism? This is sheer reactionary nonsense. MaoMaoBowman (talk) 20:40, 5 January 2012 (UTC)MaoMaoBowman

Flatford Mill image
[edit]Dear Midnightblueowl
Hi, Steve Barnett here.
I have seen your Flatford Mill photograph (ref the 'Haywain' painting) on the Wiki site and I was hoping to have your permission to use it (non-exclusive book use) in a book of British walks/visits that I'm editing for a UK publisher.
Unfortunately I don't have any budget for purchasing photos for the book but in return for allowing the use of your photo, you and Wiki would be acknowledged in the book and you would receive a complimentary copy when it publishes.
Can I ask you to drop me a line pls asap - my email address is stevenzz@hotmail.com
Thanks and regards, Steve Barnett — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.226.85.156 (talk) 11:55, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Question on Totor
[edit]Hi, I just posted a question at Talk:Totor regarding the proper translation of "C.P. des Hannetons". I see that you were the original editor who translated this as "cockchafer" and I was wondering if you could provide some insights as to why you chose this word over the other possibilities that seem to exist. Did you translate the term yourself or is this the term preferred by Herge/Herge Foundation or the RS literature? Thanks in advance for your help. (Oh, and thanks for an interesting article!) -Thibbs (talk) 14:31, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
A Community of Witches
[edit]Hi Midnightblueowl, I started a review of this article at FAC. I tend to give a lot of comments in my reviews, not all of them are definite problems, so feel free to reject my suggestions. I'll try to get the review finished over the weekend. Thanks, Mark Arsten (talk) 09:09, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Neil Price
[edit]Hi there; are you intending on fixing the redirects to the Neil Price (footballer) page? GiantSnowman 16:35, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
- No I meant that pages that formerly linked to 'Neil Price' (an article about a footballer) now link to 'Neil Price', a disambiguation page, when they should link to the article at 'Neil Price (footballer)'. GiantSnowman 16:38, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
- Also please do not remove maintenance templayes - as you did here - without fixing the issue they describe. GiantSnowman 16:42, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
- Voila - if you need any more help, please let me know. GiantSnowman 16:54, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry you weren't successful this time
[edit]I'm sorry you weren't successful this time with the FAC for A Community of Witches, and that I wasn't able to offer the help you asked for. All I can say in my defence is that it wasn't a good time for me. Better luck next time. Malleus Fatuorum 01:24, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

FAC suggestion
[edit]Hi Midnightblueowl, hope things are going well. I noticed that you have been active in some articles about socialist history. I just reviewed an article about Wage reform in the Soviet Union at FAC and thought I'd mention it to you. It could probably use some input from an editor that knows a bit about Soviet history, I looked at the prose but otherwise I couldn't be much help. Mark Arsten (talk) 18:20, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
- Cheers Mark, I'm far from a specialist in Sovietology, but i'll give it a glance! (Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:03, 7 March 2012 (UTC))
- Well, I'm sure you know more than I do :) Mark Arsten (talk) 22:27, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
I've finished with my comments at the peer review, but I don't think I've ever reviewed an article on what is effectively an academic textbook before, so I'm not really sure what might be expected at FAC. It seems fine to me, but what do I know? Malleus Fatuorum 00:07, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Dreamtime (Duerr book)
[edit]Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Dreamtime (Duerr book) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Viriditas (talk) 06:28, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
The article Dreamtime (Duerr book) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Dreamtime (Duerr book) for things which need to be addressed. Viriditas (talk) 23:54, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've made a few changes to the article and plan on making a few more if you don't get to it. Viriditas (talk) 23:55, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
AC pages, stele data
[edit]Hello, and long time no "see". Lots of edits on the main AC article since you've edited, maybe you can take a run-through. And there is an interesting discussion about the stele of revealing going on here, at Above Top Secret]. One of the points is that in the Wikipedia article on it states that the stele was moved "around 1902" from the museum that Crowley says he saw it in in 1904. Many of the people interested in AC at Above Top Secret have logged into this thread, so it is a place to add your knowledge as well as to see if the factual data is correct or has gone astray. Thanks, and enjoy. Aleister Wilson 11:46 April 18, 2012 (UTC)
- You're welcome, and the AC page may need a look or may not. I'm surprised it isn't semi-protected. Did you check out the Above Top Secret link in the above post? It's a thread you might enjoy, and be able to add some information too. It's best to sign into ATS as a signed-in member, too many ads otherwise, and information is lost to non-signed-in people (avatars, best posts in a thread as shown by stars, etc.) Aleister Wilson 2:15 22-4-'12

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
[edit]I wonder if you wouldn't mind checking something related to a book reference you added. In the article The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, can you confirm if the word "succesful" (which should be "successful") is a typo in Wikipedia or was misspelled at source? Many thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 12:47, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. I trust, given this edit, that you'll now make similar adjustments at the September 11 attacks article. --Dweller (talk) 10:23, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
There hasn't been any action on this review in over two weeks. Oakley77, who had been responding, has been blocked from commenting on GA reviews (along with nominating any GANs or reviewing them), so there will be no more participation from him. Soman, the original nominator, made a single edit elsewhere on June 24, the only one since mid-May. I was wondering if you could take the next step in the review, which is now four weeks old. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:43, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

- Alright you've earned my support. I hope you are able to get some more reviewers, but in any case, you've a lot to be proud of here, it's great to see an obscure scholarly work getting detailed attention here. Mark Arsten (talk) 19:56, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Hey there. I'm going through this article trying to add references for everything that is uncited, and I noticed that you added a good amount of content to it in the last year or so. But your first major edit seems to have added an incomplete citation. You reference a work written by P-Orridge in 1989, but there is no full cite for it, just his name, the year, and the page number. Do you remember what it is? I'd like to fix that cite up and maybe use it as a reference for other information. Thanks! —Torchiest talkedits 15:07, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- I forgot to reply earlier, but thanks for that information. I realized afterwards that the source was indeed listed, it was just disconnected from the particular reference tag. —Torchiest talkedits 22:22, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

- What I admired was your methodical expansion of this article without harbouring a political agenda or attempting to depict an archetypal 'marmite' politician in a particular way. - I am a BGS man myself. I am a Leftist, though not a Marxist. I admire people like Norman Finkelstein, Luis Eduardo Guerra, Yolanda Cerón Delgado, and Pascal Kabungulu Kibembi.
- Let us now, as Private Eye might suggest, compare and contrast:
- "We're all in this together."
- —David Cameron & George Osborne
- "Artificial, superficial harmony always designates the domination of one class."
- —Jan Ludwik Popławski
- Laters, Twit-Twooing Leftist.
- ColaXtra (talk) 19:37, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Your Leftist editing style is too blatant. I suggest you allow me to review ALL your edits before making any more. Alternatively, I could be drunk. That is also a possibility. WHy am I trying to edit Wikpipedia after a night out? TELL ME. TEL ME NOW. ColaXtra (talk) 01:47, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Heeeey, I'd stop at the eighth step! Step 10 is reverting fellow Leftists' edits till you get blocked. You do that from Hell. Like I said, step number 8 is as far as this Leftist would go! Rah! ColaXtra (talk) 20:41, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Don't think I'm not still keeping an eye on your contributions. That principled libertarian Leftist shines through brighter than the sun, it's so obvious. Sooner or later, someone is going to clock you—could be a Leninist, could be a Liberal Democrat, could even be a Tory—and then you will need to fight to get every single one of your edits through. Disgraceful anti-authoritarian Leftist bias. I warned you before, but you've just ploughed on regardless. Heedless, headstrong. Hitler chucked people like you into camps for good reasons, and this is one of them. ColaXtra (talk) 18:15, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- I refuse to be lectured by someone who was born the same year as me. Yep: you are neither respected nor my elder. Either one of those devastating facts would be enough to preclude you from being a respected elder, so consider yourself doubly, and devastatingly, precluded. It is quite unacceptable to run around calling heroes like Stalin "vagabonds", champs like Hitler "vagrants". ColaXtra (talk) 22:16, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

- I don't care: I hate bananas. That's not true: I like bananas. I ate so many as a kid that I got sick of them, didn't eat them for years. Now I like them, but not passionately. Time to slip in mention of MI6 and the Gestapo, what?? ColaXtra (talk) 22:05, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Who is this "Divine"? I shan't come to the party, though I will accept some cake in a doggy bag. ColaXtra (talk) 23:00, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- What are all these "fat suits", "Dawkinses", "struttings"? You will take command of yourself immediately, lad, else I can see a damning report regarding your Leftism finding its way to an admin. You think I'm joking? It's raining at the moment. Pity, since I want to go to Morrisons, get some Cola Xtra (that's Morrisons' own-brand version of Coke Zero to practitioners of Leftism like you). And leave the mice alone. They're sick of you flapping about and twit-twooing. ColaXtra (talk) 13:39, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
NO. YOU THINK I CAN BE REASONABLE? YOU THINK I CAN STOMACH YOUR LEFTISM????? YOU THHOUGHT WRONG< SUNSHINE. Now, for some calmer, more sober commentray: I AM SICK OF IT. I SEE ALL THE Bird College DANCING GIRLS SHOPPING IN MORRISONS, AND I THINK, "I WANT ONE." I CAN DREAM ON, BUT THE DREAM CONTINUES,. URGH. Christ. No hard feelings. ColaXtra (talk) 23:42, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- Please do not describe my beloved Dancing Girls as "filth". My advice is to drop into Sidcup Morrisons early evening midweek, take a look for yourself, or just wander along Station Road. Such magnificent creatures: really pretty, shapely legs, supple... and also really, really nice. Which brings me to the insanely irritating Rose Bruford lot. My god, those wretches don't half know how to dress to annoy, and also insist on clogging up pubs with their theatrical gestures, affected mannerisms, and pretentious jabbering. Urch, hang them by their scarves, that's what I say! Rah!! Wow... ColaXtra (talk) 23:52, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
"Wikipedia is not an appropriate venue for the discussion of totty; it is an ethereal realm of scholarship and quiet, asexual contemplation and celibacy." Old bean, I take full notice of your admonition, and you can be assured of my silence on this topic forthwith. Can't promise about not having to unburden myself regarding the ghastly Rose Bruford lot though... Happy editing, and remember to keep your Leftism under control. - And just to say quickly that I do so enjoy reading the Israeli press!
Survey: Most Israeli Jews would support apartheid regime in Israel
... A majority also explicitly favors discrimination against the state's Arab citizens, a survey shows.
The survey, conducted by Dialog [headed by Tel Aviv University Prof. Camil Fuchs] on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, exposes anti-Arab, ultra-nationalist views espoused by a majority of Israeli Jews. ...
The majority of the Jewish public, 59 percent, wants preference for Jews over Arabs in admission to jobs in government ministries. Almost half the Jews, 49 percent, want the state to treat Jewish citizens better than Arab ones; 42 percent don't want to live in the same building with Arabs and 42 percent don't want their children in the same class with Arab children. ... A third of the Jewish public wants a law barring Israeli Arabs from voting for the Knesset and a large majority of 69 percent objects to giving 2.5 million Palestinians the right to vote if Israel annexes the West Bank. ...
Although the territories have not been annexed, most of the Jewish public (58 percent) already believes Israel practices apartheid against Arabs. Only 31 percent think such a system is not in force here. ...
The survey indicates that a third to half of Jewish Israelis want to live in a state that practices formal, open discrimination against its Arab citizens.
Rabbi? You're Jewish? Well, I know you're an atheist, but you know what I mean. One of my grandparents was Jewish, though I'm not. I've been to Palestine with a human rights organisation! ISM, perhaps you've heard of them. "The point is to change it", as someone famous once said. ColaXtra (talk) 20:50, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Rabbi? in your cellar? Let him out this instant. Here's my guess: once you're done with him, you'll chuck him outside, wait a few years, then "excavate" him. Yeah, I bet that's what you're planning, you sicko. Hmm, I read Stephen Oppenheimer's (send him back to Mitteleuropa this instant) Origins of the British. It was interesting to read about those filthy—filthy and disgusting, actually—Celts. I'm so glad that, as far as I could trace it back, my family tree has no Celtic persons polluting it. No Celtic scum are recorded anywhere. My cousin's mostly English wife has an admixture of Welsh from her Cardiffian grandmother, and yet she supports Wales in the rugby. Do feel free to excavate her some time. ColaXtra (talk) 20:15, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Please do not misread something I type. Ever. I myself do not ever make mistakes, but then I am an exceptionally talented individual. Perhaps you received a sloppier education at Chis & Sid. At BGS, we were incessantly grilled on never, ever making mistakes. As for my family: we share everything, even genes. Talking of genes, I'm out of Cola Xtra, and Morrisons is shut. I feel sad. ColaXtra (talk) 23:57, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- Saint Obama?? You, sir, have lost your marbles. Where's an al-Qaeda type when you need one? Another four years of Obama is more than I can take. I reckon having Romney as president would be pretty funny, in some respects.
- You don't understand: it has to be Cola Xtra, and Waitrose would never sell it. Yer, for surely such a superior quality of supermarket would not stoop to selling a competitor's own-brand cola. 62p a bottle: how can something so cheap taste so good?
- The Grauniad is virtually worthless, and I hate those onanistic liberals. Still, with any luck, Rusbridger's freebies will continue, the heavy losses will continue, and the ghastly daily will one day go under. I would feel bad for Polly, but not for long. Ach, I would give almost anything to make love to the Toynbee woman. Her or Catherine Bennett or Jackie Ashley or Hugh Muir.
- "'Pasta,' a querulous John Kerry asked senior Israeli officials after visiting Gaza, 'what's wrong with pasta?'" ColaXtra (talk) 00:49, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
I am beginning to think that you fancy me. Might I therefore propose a spot of loitering? Afterwards, we could sit and chat, over a bottle of Cola Xtra, about what a great shag I am. Make love, not war, swooping Leftist. ColaXtra (talk) 17:14, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
- It's never too late, and so let us be sensual together at Sidcup Place. Perhaps we could mate with each other on the grass in front of their restaurant, in full view of some old folks enjoying a spot of luncheon? It would be the perfect accompaniment to their meal: two strangers ravaging each other in public. I for one prefer not to use protection, so that would definitely make it all the more exciting for the elderly onlookers. In fact, I reckon they'd be so inspired by our unprotected sex that they'd drop their cutlery, run outside, and join in: a massive orgy. That said, you could do all the spitting required, and I would restrict myself to roasting you. ColaXtra (talk) 19:49, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
I am sorry. I will now relax, the hornsome has passed. Let us move on to less sensual things: please put this—just this, by itself—as your status update on your Facebook and all your friends will like you even moar:

- What is moar, you are an abominable wretch, a Maoist wretch. What did Mao know about sexualness and hornsomeness? How can there be "Maoist sexual studies" that enabled you to blag a barnstar? Sickening. I bet you socked those barnstars to yourself. Apart from my sympathy one. ColaXtra (talk) 21:42, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Very, very naughty, Blue Twit-Twoo. With that 3RR in place—and I urge you to consider this—it looks like I may have to partake in issuing any necessary reversions. Yes, it's true: I still have three opportunities to revert (I like to think of them as aces) up my sleeve, so do not fear for your picture. Might I end by remarking that your edit summary was extremely abusive; please do not pose rhetorical questions. ColaXtra (talk) 16:48, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Islam: The Untold Story. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

[edit]Good looking fella! Aaah, Polish descent! That explains it! Tak bardzo Polskę kocham! Jesus, 42 is too young to die... How did you come across him? Hmm, via his gay rights stuff? You a Wiccan? And how did he die? I was skimming the article cos it's late, and Google didn't give me info on death immediately. Maybe I missed it; if so just ignore that question. Do any Wiccans, I mean atheists, just do it for the community aspect and for a sense of spiritual fulfilment? I could understand why, esp. if they're Western, given the effects of an all-pervasive market and soulless consumerism, etc. etc. etc. we have. I won't spam your talk like last time, but just curious. No need for a long reply! ColaXtra (talk) 02:58, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Bravo! I look forward to it! ColaXtra (talk) 18:48, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Muammar Gaddafi
[edit]Nice work - keep it up! Wizzy…☎ 08:12, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
- You are planning on cutting that 246k (!!!) down in size at some point though, aren't you? It'd be nice to actually be able to load the page so I can read your improvements ;) ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 05:48, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, it is a little long, and contains quite a bit of information that isn't strictly relevant to Muammar himself. Midnightblueowl (talk) 10:41, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- I would have to agree with the length comment. I'm going to start right now to clean up some unneeded things, over referenced parts, remove some unneeded sentences here and there. I like the quality of your additions, I'm just worried about the length. There are quite a few quoteboxes in the article, is there anyway to summarize what people say without actually quoting them? Jeancey (talk) 18:18, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
- Just a follow-up. I removed about 10k from the article for now. I'm really tempted to just remove the economic policies entirely, and shift it all to the Economy of Libya article, but I wanted your input before I did that. Jeancey (talk) 18:35, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
- Those are definitely the sections I was thinking. I cut down the section on his children to just basic summaries already, since all that info is found on their pages. I also moved some info from foreign relations to the History of Libya under Muammar Gaddafi article, since I felt it fit better there. Jeancey (talk) 18:42, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Midnightblueowl, I've removed the GA assessments that you added (or at least your username was used to add) to both articles on 30 December 2011. On the day of the assessments, the history logs showed that you were the sole creator and contributor of both articles. Comments can be found at Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations#Were these ever GA reviewed?. Pyrotec (talk) 10:51, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

"Tintin and the world of stamps" article published
[edit]Hello, midnightblueowl.
Please excuse my writing to you through here, but your contact addresses on my records are no longer valid.
I am pleased to inform you that I have published your article on Tintin stamps--yes, at long last. (I only re-discovered your article submission yesterday when working through a long to-do list built up over many years.)
With thanks and best wishes for the festive season -
Irene
