German-Somali coast
Have you heard of the German-Somali coast? I stumpled on this as I was on the German Wiki page. Is this even true? AcidSnow (talk) 01:09, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Hargeisa Taxi
Hello Middayexpress,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Hargeisa Taxi for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Pahazzard (talk) 15:40, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Assist in creating pages
Do you mind in assisting me in creation of pages for Italian Somalis and there decedents? They include Luciano Ceri Shirin Ramzanali Fazel, Mario Bresolin, Giorgio Marincola and Jonis Bascir. If you can only do a few I highly recommend Giorgio Marincola, Timira. Novel mestizo and Jonis Bascir since they are the most prominent in Italy. AcidSnow (talk) 01:17, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Enirco Cerulli
Hi, back in 2012 you added "Enirco Cerulli" to Harar. [1]. Was that spelling used in the source? It looks like a mispelling, and is now listed at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 January 3#Enirco Cerulli. John Vandenberg (chat) 14:29, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link. It's a typo; Enrico Cerulli is the proper spelling. Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 14:39, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 7
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Somalis in the United Kingdom, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Everton (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Independence of Somaliland
I have wondered for a while now if you support the independence of Somaliland?
I am personally shocked about how they want independence. I have also yet to understand this so called "Somaliland Nationalism"; they speak Somali, practice Somali traditions, look Somali, decent from other Somalis, etc, so no matter how you look at it there is no difference between them and other Somalis.
Them calling their region Somaliland it self alone is a great disgrace to Somalis . Somaliland maybe "stable" as violence goes (there are clashes but no major ones) it is not politically stable. Somaliland has no "real" control over much of what it claims (Awdalland and the Puntland–Somaliland dispute as examples). The people living in these disputed areas dont even largely support Somaliland; they have made their own region state in 2007 and 2012 called Maakhir and Khatumo State (way better name than Somaliland and Puntland. Also I would like the end use of -land in these regions it makes them seem ethnically different from other Somalis) respectively. Both regional governments also support a united Somalia. They also use the Somali shilling instead of the Somaliland one (Somaliland Solderers have recently been forcing individuals to use the Somaliland currency). The state of Maakhir has also recently joined Puntland.
I also dont support any "special states" for Somaliland making it more different than regions like Puntland.
This is just my opinion though. AcidSnow (talk) 22:10, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Racism
A discussion is going on about Anti-Zionism is a form of racism. While we have agreed some sources say so, the debate is that it is not a popular opinion to merit inclusion. --Inayity (talk) 08:10, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Internet censorship and surveillance in Somalia
When you deleted the sub-section on "Internet censorship and surveillance" for the second time today that I added to the Communications in Somalia article you left an edit summary that said, "most media in Somalia is online, as covered on Media of Somalia page; mvd Al-Shabaab ban to relevant page, rmv ephemera/material covered on said page & journalist timeline". To which page or pages was the "Al-Shabaab ban" moved? Was any other material moved to other pages or was it just deleted?
I still think that the material I added on "Internet censorship and surveillance" isn't covered or isn't well covered in the Media in Somalia article. I'll start a discussion about this on the Talk:Communications in Somalia page later today or over the weekend.
- The other pages alluded to were this, this and this, which collectively cover Al-Shabaab's various edicts and activities. Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 23:49, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Somali Council of Ministers
Why are some ministers broken apart into two different ones? Also who has more power the president or the Prime? Sorry, but I dont know much about things like this. AcidSnow (talk) 21:08, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- It's in the constitution. Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 23:49, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Wikilinking
Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.
I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:
- dates
- years
- commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
- common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).
This even applies for infoboxes.
Thanks and my best wishes.

Just so you know, Rosie and I intend getting it up to GA status. You might be interested in working with us. Offhand it needs a landmarks section and improvements to the lead on things other than history.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:16, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
DYK for Hussein Samatar
On 24 January 2014, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Hussein Samatar, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Hussein Samatar was the first Somali American elected to public office in Minnesota? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hussein Samatar. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
