I created an account because I was getting emails to confirm my email addresses, [redacted] and [redacted], that werent my activity. I figured this would stop any futures issues. I used to be an editor years back but I lost my login and dont have access to that email anymore whatever it was. Michigandruid (talk) 22:56, 24 March 2018 (UTC)michigandruid

- Publishing your email addresses is not a good idea and can lead to more spam. I have thus removed them. Huon (talk) 23:47, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, I didn't realize this was "published" I was trying to message support. I haven't used Wikipedia in many years.
- If I read this correctly, you're saying this is about User:Matthewgrutledge who, despite using your name and writing about you, isn't you? Thanks for letting us know. That account is already blocked; I'll add a note that in addition to the other issues that saw them blocked they'll either have to change their username or provide confirmation that they indeed are Matthew G. Rutledge. Huon (talk) 00:01, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. Sounds great. I believe I recall the email my old account was under but it no longer exists. Should I consider that account a loss? Michigandruid (talk) 00:04, 25 March 2018 (UTC)michigandruid
- If you cannot remember the password for that account and don't have access to the email address any more, there's no way to regain access to the account. So yes, in that case you'll have to abandon that one, though you may want to add a note to your user page giving the old account's username and explaining that you can no longer access it.
