Barnstar please?
You give me one barnstar PLEASE????????? Will'swiki000 (talk) 02:36, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, it's not really meant to be a tit-for-tat thing - you give out barnstars for work done or services to Wikipedia. I only got my first barnstar after doing more than 8,000 edits. I'll look in on you later on to see how you've done on Wikipedia and then consider a barnstar for you. Thanks - Michaelmas1957 (talk) 02:39, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
1WTC
I just have to say I think we've both done well with One World Trade Center and if we keep working on it we could probably get it to good article status or maybe even featured article status like 7 World Trade Center. Do you think it may be too early to think about nominating it for GA (after a little more work) since the tower isn't done yet and new information is likely to arise after its completion? I think so. Cadiomals (talk) 04:17, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
- You've done a fine job with copy-editing this article. I'm not particularly good at wording things, I just like to lay things down. I notice that parts of the article don't read very well and I'm not good at fixing those things, so I suggest you read through the entire article and make as many prose improvements as you can, so the information is more cohesive and reads well. This will make a better impression on a GA reviewer. Just a suggestion since you do such a good job of it. Cadiomals (talk) 20:35, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sure thing, but I have gone over it a couple of times prior to nominating it, and I'd say it scans pretty well - you've been particularly helpful in cutting away some of the fluff and pruning citations. It may not be Featured Article quality yet but I'd say it definitely has a shot at being a GA. Michaelmas1957 (talk) 20:39, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Autolib'
Hi Michaelmas1957. I think the Autolib' article is good enough to nominate for DYK? Would you like to go through the process? Also I was wondering about bringing some of the content in the French article, though my French is limited with a help of a translator I can manage to bring some of the content. Would you like to collaborate in the process? Cheers.--Mariordo (talk) 20:30, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Toll hikes
I could have sworn I read in numerous articles that 1WTC would be financed partly by toll hikes, so I don't know why you removed that. I'm trying to see if I can find the specific articles so I can source this statement, as it is worthy to note. Cadiomals (talk) 00:38, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry - when I saw the "most expensive building in the world" thing, I thought some PoV editor was trying to depict the tower as a white elephant used to justify toll hikes; I didn't realise that wasn't what was meant, or that you had sources for all that. A misunderstanding on my part; I'll check the edit history more carefully in future. Michaelmas1957 (talk) 00:41, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- It's okay. It did sound negative when I first wrote it but I present factual information regardless. Anyway, it turns out based on reading the most recent articles that the Port Authority decided not to use the revenue from toll hikes towards 1WTC after all (apparently it was controversial), so I won't be adding that. H.A.N.D. Cadiomals (talk) 00:53, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- ...Damn, then I'll have to re-remove the info I just re-added :p The WSJ source from 30 January mentioned the toll hikes - which source said they wouldn't be using them after all? Link plz. Michaelmas1957 (talk) 00:56, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Here the link to the link that was in the link: [1] for further clarification. Cadiomals (talk) 00:59, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks - I've amended the Estimated cost section to note both the toll increases and the fact that they aren't being used directly for the tower.Michaelmas1957 (talk) 01:08, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Re your update today to Dorney Lake, are you sure that the seats have been installed? Do you have a source? - David Biddulph (talk) 14:07, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- Granted, that was an assumption, seeing as the Olympics are so soon. Will reword it with a source. Michaelmas1957 (talk) 14:10, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
- That looks better. There was no sign of any work to install seating when the trials were held there last month. The seating for the World Champs in 2006, and for the World Juniors last year, admittedly not as many seats as for the Olympics, didn't take too long to install. - David Biddulph (talk) 14:20, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Cuban Revolution
Hi, wrt recent reverts and corrections there. Today I called into a public library to briefly check Castro & Ramonet "My Life" (2007 edition). On p.133, Castro says he recalls five men were "killed in action" at Moncada Barracks, plus 56 later. This is in line with the original citation in Cuban Revolution and Moncada Barracks articles. I normally only deal with Cuban stuff 1960/1961, but you might like to check the text. BTW, IMHO the book refs in both articles look like they could be better put in a Bibliography section, and the WP-deprecated ibids should be ditched anyway.MTIA,PeterWD (talk) 13:48, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, if the source says five, then feel free to change the text. Just make sure to add the new cite. As far as the ibids go, I'll look at setting up a bibilography later on. Michaelmas1957 (talk) 16:09, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

- The History section already says that, including sources. It's not specifically stated in the lede only because it would make the lede too cluttered (it's already too long). Sorry I couldn't be more help. Michaelmas1957 (talk) 20:31, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

A newbie could use your help
At Talk:Performance Errors due to Fatigue and Sleep Loss During Spaceflight/Ground based evidence for performance errors due to fatigue and work overload there is an editor you will find who is a pretty straightforward trouble free newbie. I'm rather careful at the moment on who I ask to assist newbies in general, on account of the disjunction of the wikiproject due to BITE and arguments and so on, I don't want the treatment that was handed out to me in the past handed out to unsuspecting innocents :) If you are worried about how to engage him/her in conversation just try my approach of assisting first, and pointing out errors later, you can just teach him/her how to fix something and they'll do it by them-self like with moving articles. I think the copyright issue, along with the proposed deletion is one to address first. Penyulap ☏ 18:21, 12 Jul 2012 (UTC)

Cuban Revolution - COI
Hi, just like to give you a heads-up on suspected COI related to this article, where an author is cited seven times. An IP editor created a BLP for that author, and is active in promoting them in medical and Cuban matters. I'm a stranger to COI stuff, apart from recent reading up on policy and practice, and at present there's not much hard evidence. Sorry to be circumspect, but I don't want to leave any explicit traces or suggestions that I might be outing anyone. Hint, go see what links to the red link in the article. - Thanks for the info - I'll check it out. Michaelmas1957 (talk) 10:08, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, looking at the source in question, its reliability is a little dubious, and it does look like the IP has been doing some hard promotion. Going to need more to go on, though. Michaelmas1957 (talk) 10:49, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Link rot
Hi Michaelmas1957. I undid your deletion from Alexa Internet. Please don't remove citation links just because they're dead. If you have the time either find link to the deleted content on [archive.org] or similar, or even better find a modern replacement link. If you don't then just leave them be. See WP:Link Rot for more info. Thanks! Quietbritishjim (talk) 18:57, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I'll see if I can find a recent cite to replace the dead one. — Michaelmas1957 (talk) 22:25, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
DYK for Vanderbilt exoskeleton
On 12 December 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Vanderbilt exoskeleton, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that American paraplegics are now learning to walk again by wearing a robotic exoskeleton? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Vanderbilt exoskeleton. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Disambiguation link notification for December 21
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited History of Cuba, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cinema (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
