Alicia Cervera moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Alicia Cervera. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it is promotional and reads like an advertisement. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 22:37, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- Good afternoon,
- Thank you for letting me know. Can you please clarify what you mean by more sources to establish notability? The article includes several sources from reputable newspapers, magazines and trade journals throughout. Is there a specific area or content that you are referring?
- With regard to the promotional content, I will review the article and make edits to make it read in a more neutral tone. In certain cases though, when the sources use terms like pioneering or refer to notable accomplishments, should those be omitted? I'm not sure how this should be handled if and when referring to a factual occurrence.
- Any guidance you can provide on this is greatly appreciated. MiamiODW (talk) 22:46, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
The page Alicia Cervera has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. - Hello, could you please let me know what specifically was wrong with this article? It was all valid and sourced information. Also, it was re-written upon the first request to have advertising language removed. MiamiODW (talk) 20:09, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- Examples of problematic promotional language include "Their initial years were marked by challenges and a fresh start in an unfamiliar land" "made a decision that would later prove to be critical" "Despite limited resources" "Instead of adhering to the traditional role of an in-house developer sales agent, she created a platform dedicated to servicing developer needs" "instilled in her the importance of understanding and respecting diverse cultures" "This perspective guided her vision for Miami's real estate market, which in her eyes was destined to be the foundation of a leading global city." etc. Then there is a large section titled "Legacy and recognition". Please also note that Brickellmag.com is unlikely to be a reliable source and so should probably not be cited. Also, please disclose whether you were paid to write the article or have a connection with the subject, per WP:PAID and WP:COI. Thank you SmartSE (talk) 23:30, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for your reply. Based on your feedback, it appears to me that the article should not have been flagged for speedy deletion. According to the policies, if the article can be fixed or amended, that it preferable than a speedy deletion. I would refute some of the examples that you state are problematic language, because these are references that were reported as fact in reliable sources such as the Miami Herald and South Florida Business Journal. Nevertheless, even if you deem them to be problematic, they are references that could have been edited or omitted in entirety. There was no need to delete the entire article.
- For example
- - "Their initial years were marked by challenges and a fresh start in an unfamiliar land" -- this was reported on in the Miami Herald here. The Cerveras arrived penniless from Cuba. They did have challenges in a new land. That was a matter of fact, but again, it could be removed altogether.
- - "made a decision that would later prove to be critical" -- Again, a matter of fact and reported on as such in South Florida Business Journal here. Again, could be amended and does not require speedy deletion. Source here.
- - "This perspective guided her vision for Miami's real estate market, which in her eyes was destined to be the foundation of a leading global city." -- This again, is sourced extensively and in my opinion is a matter of fact. However, I can see how one might feel this is promotional and I do not protest removing it from the article all together. I am happy to remove it, and again I do not think this in any way is tantamount to cause for speedy deletion.
- - "instilled in her the importance of understanding and respecting diverse cultures" - Again, a matter of fact, but we can strike it from the article.
- - Then there is a large section titled "Legacy and recognition". -- This is super customary on Wikipedia, is it not? We can easily change this section title to Awards or Awards and recognition. For example, see here a colleague of hers Craig Robins that has a section for awards in his Wikipedia. If a person has received awards, or been recognized by something enduring such as a Street being named after one person, then in my opinion that does amount to "legacy." I do not see how that is promotional. But again, per customs of Wikipedia it could have been easily changed.
- - Regarding Brickell Magazine, the publication has been in business since 2008 and it is a reputable lifestyle magazine in Miami. So, I'm not sure why you consider it unreliable. Regardless, it was used as an additional source to further reinforce facts. There is no content within the article that is solely sourced by or solely reliant on Brickell Magazine.
- Having said this, according to the Wikipedia guidelines, there is ample opportunity to improve the page rather than delete it. As such, I would like to formally request a discussion regarding the decision to exercise speedy deletion, and I would like to have reinstatement considered.
- Before nominating a page for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved, reduced to a stub, merged or redirected elsewhere, reverted to a better previous revision, or handled in some other way (see Wikipedia:Deletion policy § Alternatives to deletion). A page is eligible for speedy deletion only if all of its history is also eligible. Users nominating a page for speedy deletion should specify which criterion/criteria the page meets, and should notify the page creator and any major contributors. If a page needs to be removed from Wikipedia for privacy reasons (e.g. non-public personal information, a child disclosing their age, possible libel), request oversight instead. - The crucial part you have overlooked is
would need to be fundamentally rewritten to serve as encyclopedia articles
. I am more than happy to restore the article to Draft:Alicia Cervera but it needs extensive rewriting to become a neutral article. You have also not explained whether you have a conflict of interest. SmartSE (talk) 16:44, 6 November 2023 (UTC)- Hello, thank you for agreeing to restore the article to draft. Please do so and I will be happy to make an objective effort to fundamentally rewrite the article to become a neutral article and strike it of any advertorial language. After doing so, I will submit it for approval.
- I am also disclosing, in accordance with Wikimedia's Foundation's Terms of Use, that I am an employee of Cervera Real Estate and I have been paid for contributions to Wikipedia. MiamiODW (talk) 15:16, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for making that disclosure. I have restored it to Draft:Alicia Cervera. Please use the Articles for Creation process to request a review and wait until that is complete and for someone to move it back to Alicia Cervera. You can request a review by adding {{AfC submission}} to the top of the article. SmartSE (talk) 17:26, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hi MiamiODW! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Alicia Cervera that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you.
