Welcome & Answers
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, Metal Lord, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!
Now then, on to your questions. Here's how you upload an image. First, look on the left side of your screen. Under the "toolbox" section, there should be a link that says, "Upload file." You'll want to click on that, then scroll down, select the "browse" button, and find the image on your hard drive that you want to upload. (If the image, is not on your hard drive, then go to the website where it is located, then download it onto your computer). In the summary section, type in a description of the image. BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE SOURCE OF THE PIC!!!. Then comes the tricky part, finding an appropiate tag. If you're not sure if the image should be used on Wikipedia, don't upload. Album covers are fine, but I just want you to remember that in the future. Click the tab next to liscensing that says "None selected" and pick out an appropriate tag. Then click the upload file button (the one at the bottom of the screen), et voila! You've just uploaded an image onto Wikipedia!
Next, you need to go to the article you want the image to go and place it there. Let's say for example, I wanted to place the example image on an article. I would click the embedded image icon, type in the name of the file, then use brackets to set up preferences for the picture. And what I mean by that is the size, caption, and if it should be in a thumbnail. You may put these in any order you wish, except for the caption, which must go last. The link should look like some variation of this when you're done [[File:Bad Title Example.png|200px|left|thumb|This is an example image.]]
The image will show up on the page like this:
As for the NASCAR WikiProject, this is much simpler. Go to Wikipedia:WikiProject NASCAR, go to the section where the members are listed, click the "edit" button, add your name and you're done! Your next step is to look around and improve articles where you see fit. And don't be afraid to ask questions! We have a great group of people over thre who are always happy to help!
Thank you for your interest. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. Regards, --D-Day What up? Am I cool, or what? 21:00, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

OK. Here is the deletion log for the article that explains why it was deleted.[1] Maybe it wasn't notable enough. You can try Wikipedia:Deletion Review and say why you think the article should be kept. --D-Day What up? Am I cool, or what? 22:42, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
I said why should be kept. But do you think it should kept? Metal Maiden 22:53, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

DRV Revisited
[edit]I don't watch that page, so I don't know what to do there. Try looking for someone who seems to comment on that page alot and see what happened. If I could help you, I would. --D-Day What up? Am I cool, or what? 19:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Do you know anyone who does? by the way what does DRV mean? -- Metal Maiden 19:14, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- DRV means Deletion Review. You can try GTBacchus. I think he's pretty knowledgeable. --D-Day What up? Am I cool, or what? 19:33, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for the help -- Metal Maiden 20:04, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hi. If I'm reading this situation correctly, we're talking about the article The Monolith Deathcult, which has been deleted 3 times by three different administrators. I can't see that any request for review has been made at Wikipedia:Deletion review - when did you post the reasons for keeping the article? I would suggest reading the page WP:MUSIC, which is our notability guideline for bands. If The Monolith Deathcult meet any of the criteria outlined on that page, then I think a deletion review would be entirely appropriate, and can help you with the listing. Let me know what you think after you check out the notability guideline. -GTBacchus(talk) 20:22, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, there are a lot of articles with good information that are nevertheless not appropriate for Wikipedia. Mostly we focus on the policy: Wikipedia:Verifiability. In order for Wikipedia to be trustworthy, people need to know that they can verify any information that we present here. If there are no independent sources that can verify some information, then we really can't host it. That's why we have notability guidelines. Have you read the page WP:MUSIC yet? -GTBacchus(talk) 20:36, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- If the band doesn't meet our criteria, then no, I won't help you create the article, because it will just get deleted again. We try to be consistent about how we apply those standards, so we aren't going to make exceptions, sorry. -GTBacchus(talk) 20:46, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

I hesitate to say "never" about anything. Is the band still together and making music? Maybe they'll recieve more recognition, and meet our notability criteria in the future. -GTBacchus(talk) 20:51, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject NASCAR proposed standards
[edit]WikiProject NASCAR needs your help! We are in the process of forming our proposed standards which, when complete, will hopefully become a Wikipedia guideline. The guidelines will help editors understand Wikipedia consensus about things like which NASCAR-related articles meet notability standards. Please stop by and let us know what you think! Expansion of Wikiproject Hard Rock
[edit]Dear WikiProject Hard Rock members,
This is a notice about the proposed expansion of the WikiProject, so the scope covers rock music in general, changing it from "WikiProject Hard Rock" to "Wikiproject Rock music". Like I pointed out to the creator, DavidJJJ, what falls under the scope of "hard rock" may come into dispute, and there is no existing WikiProject for rock in general, only WikiProject Alternative music and WikiProject Punk music come somewhat close. This expansion will hopefully in theory be a guide/directory, and bring much needed attention to articles of this genre. DavidJJJ has already given kudos to the idea, and it is encouraged that you express your thoughts and concerns on the WikiProject's talk page before anything goes forward. We hope start the transition soon. Until then, please, make your voice heard! Cheers. -- Reaper X 22:32, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject Rock music
[edit]Well, after nearly no response, the expansion of WikiProject Hard Rock has gone ahead. We are now officially known as WikiProject Rock music! We are still in dire need of your participation, to add articles that fall within the scope of rock music, to invite users to join the WikiProject, and to get this show on the road. Be sure to drop by and see the new changes. Feel free to add {{User Wikiproject Rock music}} to your userpage.
I hope to see you around eh? Cheers. -- Reaper X 01:18, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Re:Do you need help
[edit]Dude, I would appreciate anything you can do. Anything. I don't care. Collecting more articles, recruiting more members, anything.
Thanks dude. -- Reaper X 02:29, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- pffftt...ugh geez, need to think this one some. Thats why I tried to really organize articles on the main project page into specific headings, to help out those who have a general idea of what work they want to/can do.
But uh...lets see...alot of articles need expansion, and I guess that is one on the most imprortant things to do. Cause I think it's okay to say that stubs and shorts scare newbies.
To be specific, may I suggest...Puddle of Mudd if you like expansion work.
Another suggestion would be, since it's a favorite of yours, AC/DC, cause its a recent failed featured article candidate. If you look through it's subpage to see the points of why people objected to it, and work to improve on those.
And some adding of articles would really help. May I ask, are you American by any chance? Cause many rock bands come outta there, and here in Canada, you dont hear many of the underground and lesser known bands, and are oblivious to their existence. The CRTC enforces that ma majority of the content on Canadian radio and TV is Canadian, and so those bands get squeezed out, and since I was the primary in adding bands, alot of them are Canadian as you can see. So the WikiProject needs someone with a geographic advantage over Canada to add articles.
Hope my suggestions help some. -- Reaper X 02:50, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Your edits to List of Death Note manga
[edit]Please, as I stated in my edit summary of the revert, do not change "Page" to "Chapter" on the List of Death Note manga page. They are called Pages in the series itself, and I understand that it could be confusing if someone wasn't familiar with the series, but it should be obvious that it's not referring to individual pages within the book since the chapter-Pages are titled. Thank you. Nique1287 22:00, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject Trivium
[edit]Yeah sure, it's for anyone to join, just go over, and add your name here and then add the userbox to your page (if you wish). Then just do like the rest of us and add any new information/ correct information and stop vandals on all the trivium related pages! All the information can be found here Asics talk 22:07, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ive added you to the page, and fixed the userbox on your userspace, I dont know if its quite where you want it, but I'm sure you will be able to sort that! Asics talk 17:45, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:COF 07 2006.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:COF 07 2006.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:07, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
