Soul Bomb is a hard rock band formed in 2006 in Gatineau Ottawa, Canada.
History
[edit]2006
[edit]Soul Bomb was formed in January 2006 when Mathieu "Math" Ménard, former drummer, S.B. decided to start a band with Ian Bouchard due to them enjoying Ian's pre-recorded compositions. In addition to Ian's pre-recorded compositions, two new songs: "Broken Down Angel" and "Got To Get Away" were also created. The bands first performance was on July 14, 2006 at the Thirsty Scholar on York Street in Ottawa, competing in the LIVE 88.5 "Big Money Shot".[1]
From March to July 2006, the band worked on their debut album Broken Down Angel. Most of the tracking was done at night, in the band's singer, Bouchard's home studio, which was at the time, located in Hull, Quebec. The guitar tracks had to be re-recorded at the Distortion Studios in Ottawa, with help from Nick Hynes, producer and guitar player for the band Bran Van 3000. The tracks were then mixed and mastered back at Bouchard's home studio by him, along with the help from Caroline Charron and bass player, Math.[2]
2007
[edit]On January 18, 2007, Soul Bomb was featured on episode 81 of Capital Rock Show Episode. The show consisted of four songs off of Broken Down Angel.
In October 2007, after former drummer S.B was fired from the band, Jack MacGregor became his replacement. Also in 2007, Soul Bomb, in collaboration with Kids Help Phone released "Broken Down Angel" as single. The video was produced by ZoomFX Productions and was filmed in Gatineau-Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and New York in 2006.[3]
2008
[edit]In January 2008, Paul "Laffy" Lafrenière joined to become the permanent guitar player.
In 2008 it was announced that Soul Bomb would be performing at the 2009 Global Peace Concert, along with artists like Melba Moore, Shilo, Jean Alain Rousel and THE ONE, Nick Sterling, MAMADOU, The Fallout Theory, Billy Redfield, Nikos & No Regrets, Out of the Blue, and Andrew Bayuk.[4]
