Reversion of ancestry section

I understand that the tree was incomplete but unnecessary? Surely not. The family tree is of high importance and relevance in a person’s wikipedia article, especially one of royalty. Frances Herbert is an ancestress of mine, I am descended from her via her younger and untitled son, The Hon. Alexander Mackenzie. The titles have not been in my branch of the family for centuries! I was much interested in monarchy long before I began research into my genealogy. yes, indeed, though perhaps not as close as in the 16th/17th century as far as what can be proved through the records is concerned. Probably more remote, before the 13th/14th century for part of them - or unknown due to lack of records Circourt (talk)

Can the Duke decide not to entitle his second son, Ronald, to use the prefix of lord?

As far as I know, this is possible, however I don't think it's ever been done. It would be very unusual for the heir-apparent of a Duke, Marquess or Earl to not use a courtesy title. More on that can be found on the article "Courtesy titles in the United Kingdom"

Because James uses the title of Marquess of Graham (not Montrose, I mixed that up, sorry!) as a courtesy title, he is not The Marquess of Graham, because his father is. He is styled as James Graham, The Most Honourable Marquess of Graham.

Again, as far as I know, this is probably possible but very unlikely. It would be going against tradition and custom. Unless the Duke had an explicit reason for not giving his children titles, it would not happen. I don't know of any examples of this happening.

Oui, peu importe si le titre soit titre de courtoisie ou titre substantif ; l'épouse d'un aristocrate porte toujours l'équivalent féminin du titre de son mari. On British passports, only peers that are members of the House of Lords and their wives and families have their titles listed on their passport. As James' father, the Duke of Montrose is a member of the House of Lords, this applies to them. So she would have Marchioness of Graham on her passport. Merci pour la clarification ! I also didn’t know regarding the rules about foreign titles after 1932. So, Philip of Greece could anyway not have kept his title upon being naturalized... It was reported in Focus [2] that Ernst August of Hanover’s German passport’s surname section reads (in small size) « Prinz von Hannover Herzog von Braunschweig und Lüneburg Königlicher Prinz von Großbritannien und Irland » while his British passport reads « His Royal Highness Ernest Augustus Guelph ».
