[edit]Hi MerryLindsey! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Research Society on Alcoholism that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 22:25, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for that information- I have made a ton of edits that are not minor that I marked as such (SMH)- I will not make that mistake in the future. I really appreciate your helping this newbie out!! MerryLindsey (talk) 22:30, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Do leave a message on my talk page if I can ever help in the future. Keep up the good work! -Kj cheetham (talk) 17:22, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, MerryLindsey. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Merry Lindsey, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. The above is just a standard template with some further information. I noticed you tried to declare it on the talk page of the Merry Lindsey article, which I've just fixed for you. Kj cheetham (talk) 19:38, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you- I will use the request edit template in the future. I really appreciate your fixing all these mistakes. MerryLindsey (talk) 20:00, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- MerryLindsey, I do hope you went through my comment as well on the conflict of interest in a section above, on making any disclosures as needed. Jay (talk) 03:12, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, Jay- I did see it & Kj cheetham helped me fix for my own article. I will request edit in future for that one. I'm reading up on COI for colleagues that I know but don't have any collaboration etc with to make sure I'm disclosing appropriately. Please keep helping me, I really do appreciate & am learning. MerryLindsey (talk) 12:50, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
