Sinhalese in the English Wiktionary, if you are interested
Hi,
I wonder if you could make some small Sinhalese contributions to the English Wiktionary. The Sinhalese contents is extremely low and even very basic words are missing and online resources are poor. There's a lot to do, not just entries and translation and any help would be appreciated, although the entries and translations should follow some basic standards (very different from Wikipedia). Wiktionary:Sinhalese_transliteration needs attention.
- wikt:Category:Sinhalese_nouns have 44 entries.
- wikt:Category:Sinhalese_adjectives - 11.
- wikt:Category:Sinhalese_verbs - 4.
Please pass this along if you know a Sinhalese editor who might be interested. --Anatoli (talk) 01:12, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Sri Vikrama Rajasinha - Edit Conflict
Hi MediaJet,
I thought I'd get in touch with you have made constructive edits to this article in the past. It would be great if we could all work together to get the article back to version where there content isn't politically motivated or subject to historical revisionism.
There seems to be an unconstructive edit war over the name of this article. I think it's time the matter was resolved by an administrator. The article was previously entitled, "Sri Vikrama Rajasinha of Kandy". "Sri Vikrama Rajasinha" was the most common name by which the last king was known as per both Sri Lankan and European records, a perusal of books on the Kanydan period will confirm this. Yes, "Sri" is an honorific prefix, but it is also the most common name by which he was known. The prefix "Mother" appears in the wikipedia entry on "Mother Teresa", this is in accordance with MOS:HONORIFIC: "Where an honorific is so commonly attached to a name that the name is rarely found without it, it should be included". Secondly, Tamilian101 has been attempting to add "Prince Kannusamy" to the king's name. Pre-coronation titles should appear in the article, but certainly not in the title of the article. Addressing a king by the lower title, "prince", is incorrect and disrespectful. The article on Queen Elizabeth does have "Princess Elizabeth" appended the the article's title for this reason. Regardless of your politics, historical revisionism is unhelpful. Prince Kannusamy Nayaka, a member of the Madurai royal family, chose the name "Sri Vikrama Rajasinha" upon his coronation (aged 18), and that is the most common name by which he was known throughout his life.
Furthermore, adding the name of the king in three separate languages on the English Language version of wikipedia clutters up the page with information that it largely uninformative for the vast majority of readers. It should be noted that Sri Lanka's inhabitants at the time also included Burghers and Moors (who spoke Dutch and Arabic among other languages), listing his names in all these languages is unnecessary clutter. This is why Queen Elizabeth's name does not appear in Welsh, Gaelic or any other language on the wikipedia entry, because it is uninformative on an English language encyclopedia and adds unnecessary clutter. I have added this information the article's and Tamilian101's talk page in the hope that he would see reason, but it is clear that he is trying to engage in politically motivated historical revisionism. I stated that adding "Prince Kannusamy" (a previous and more junior title) before the actual name of the king on the image and his completely unnecessary (we don't see Princess Elizabeth preceding "Queen Elizabeth II" on her wiki entry). My revisions have all been reverted without the reasons being addressed on the talk page.
This is an important article on one of the most interesting periods of Sri Lankan history, so please let's work together to make it more informative an accessible without quibbling over unconstructive modifications. If you have the time, I would really appreciate your input on how to go about getting the article back to into it's former, more accurate, version.
Thanks 124.148.180.226 (talk) 06:30, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

rollback
Hi MediaJet. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! User:MediaJet (talk) 16:17, 13 September 2016 (UTC)Beeblebrox (talk) 20:01, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Honorifics
Do you understand why your edit at Zakir Naik was wrong? You put 'Dr.' in front of his name, which leads me to think you need to read WP:HONORIFICS and WP:CREDENTIALS. No big deal as long as you are going to follow our guidelines here. I'm mentioning this as you have applied for Review rights and you need to understand our polices, obviously, but I also think knowledge of our guidelines, esp for biographies, is important. Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did at Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, you may be blocked from editing. Calling the LTTE a terrorist organisation in Wikipedia's voice is a clear violation of WP:NPOV. Not even Al-Qaeda is described as a terrorist organisation in Wikipedia's voice. We can mention that LTTE is labelled as terrorist organisation by various governments but this must be done using in-text attribution as per WP:TERRORIST.
You have been editing on Wikipedia long enough to know that neutrality is one of the core content policies. obi2canibetalk contr 14:59, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Sunflowers (band)
The article Sunflowers (band) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The band does not appear to comply with WP:MUSICBIO.
The article asserts that the band is one of the leading bands in Sri Lanka however the references provided only state "Janaki's vision is to be one of the leading bands at open air shows like the groups Sunflower" and "Chandrasena will be backed by the popular band Sunflowers" - this hardly collaborates the claim that they are 'one of the leading bands in Sri Lanka'. This is purely trivial coverage of the band at best. The bulk of the article is made up of a list of band members, which is taken from the band's facebook page - a primary self published source. The remaining references are all dead links.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Dan arndt (talk) 05:58, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi. this image, while a very good one to have on wikipedia, is just too long- I have no idea how no one's brought this up, seeing as you appear to have put it on the Kandyan Convention page nearly three years ago.
