Deletions

[edit]

Although it is true that the sandbox is intended for use as a place in which to experiment, this does not mean that you can do absolutely anything there. In 2014, you submitted a page whose only purpose was to promote the Dalena company. It was deleted because you did not make the slightest attempt to show notability. In 2016, you created a sandbox page on the founder of that company, in a clear attempt to do an end-run around the notability rules for companies -- both by making it as a biography, and by doing it in the sandbox. Then you let it sit untouched for a month. This is not acceptable; even if you had continued trying to improve your draft, you still would have been required to include something remotely like useful content. Wikipedia is not a free webhost where you can store anything and everything you want.

In 2014, you asked another administrator "Could you also tell me why other [business] companies out there comply to have their page listed on the Wikipedia?"

There are many articles which, in all honesty, shouldn't be on Wikipedia. We try to remove them as quickly as we can. There are also other articles which are on Wikipedia because they meet our criteria for notability. Remember, it's not enough to prove that something is a fact -- it's a fact that my cat turned three years old last month, I even have documents from the vet to prove when her official birthday is, and I could make a website all about her, but that doesn't prove that there should be an article about her.

Oh, and you'll notice that I haven't mentioned either the company's name or that of its founder. This is because it's entirely possible that she / they may regret having her / their name mentioned in this sort of context and available on the internet for anyone to see forever. "Why can't I have a substandard page? Those other substandard pages misled me into thinking your standards were lower!" "Oops, you're right! Tell us where those substandard pages are, and we'll remove them!" "NOOOO! DON'T REMOVE THEM! IF YOU REMOVE THEM, IT'LL BE MY FAULT!!!!" How can we show that our standards are higher if people like you don't let us know where the substandard stuff is? DS (talk) 14:01, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
