University of Santo Tomas seals and emblems
Thanks Philtro! Hirap na hirap nga ako maghanap ng source eh.. third party source ang kelangan eh.. wala akong mahanap.. thanks!:) Pampi1010 (talk) 11:42, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- Color box is actually better, but can we make it bigger? I was planning to use the UAAP color boxes for the colleges with dual colors, I'm just waiting for the article to be approved so I can put them. Anyway, what batch are you from? Thanks! Pampi1010 (talk) 14:38, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, maybe we can use div/span syntax as what you have did previously. I am an incoming senior this school year. =D — P H I L T R O (talk) 14:52, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

- Re: connotation — Uhh, siguro yung magkaka-title na "Engineer"? Uhh, nevermind. Haha.
- I used the shade of white (or cream? or whatever) as depicted on its shield logo. I'm currently fixing the color boxes and am having a problem in using div style syntax due to its float property. — P H I L T R O (talk) 15:39, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- Parang nagets kita in a way.. Haha.
- I'm not sure, but I think ST should be pure white. That's what it says in the graduation program... And why is AB color black? Can I change some colors? (Well maybe after you're done editing the div style syntax whatever...) Thanks! Pampi1010 (talk) 15:48, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'm having a hard time to fix those color boxes. You can start changing the colors now. I shall fix them (color boxes) as soon as possible. — P H I L T R O (talk) 16:06, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

- Nice, you're doing a great job! Could you just add 2 more boxes between 1868–1935 and 1875–1909 Minor Seal? I saw 2 other minor seals not listed in the official UST website...
- Also, could you read this convo. Its between me and a wikipedia admin... we're talking about the article. Hindi ko maintindihan... soo Wikipedia. Dinudugo na ilong ko.
- Admin: The other critical point is how you would want to extent the fair sue rationale of say File:UST-CollegeOfFineArtsAndDesign.png to anything but University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design.
- Me: That file already exists, right? So why do I have to worry about its fair use rationale?
- Admin: There is also a difference between hosting a copy of a logo and actually 'fairly' using it. We only have the copy because it supposedly helps the reader to identify the brand University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design in its article. But that doesn't mean the copy can then simply be used elsewhere say in a gallery of related images. But that is the argument also of much debate which I'm not really following. Maybe after this experience you'll be in a good position to advise others.
- Thanks! Pampi1010 (talk) 05:38, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- What he might want to say is you should add "Non-free media use rationale for the article University of Santo Tomas seals and emblems" template on the summary of each file, which will be used on the said article. For example, the file Seal of the University of Santo Tomas.svg. As you can see, the file must be put or must be used only to the articles University of Santo Tomas, UST Quadricentennial Celebration, List of University of Santo Tomas buildings and not to any other else unless stated. 'Yan ang pagkakaintindi ko. :D — P H I L T R O (talk) 05:57, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

- No, you just have to add the following to the summary of each file:

- Hi, I have forwarded the article to the Deletion Review, and 1 admin has already replied.
- Per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/University of Santo Tomas seals and emblems, the article was deleted in 2009 as a non-notable gallery of non-free images. If you intend to replace every instance of File:Example.png with a fair use image, this portion of the problem has hardly been rectified. Chester Markel (talk) 06:02, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi again Philtro, I'm planning to make a separate article for the university seal alone. I'll make a separate article for the different college insignias... without the individual college logos.. 1. If I'll upload the images of the previous university logos, what license am I going to use for them? 2. I'll also include the present seal which is in the main article of UST. What necessary editing should I do for its license? Pampi1010 (talk) 08:07, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- 1. You can use the following licenses:
- * Author died more than 100 years ago;
- * Author died more than 70/75/80 years ago; (see Template:PD-old); or
- * Historically significant fair use (deceased persons or historic events).
- 2. Just copy the Non-free media use rationale for University of Santo Tomas indicated on File:Seal of the University of Santo Tomas.svg, then replace the value of parameter
article
to the title of article where you want to put the image. — Philtro Talk 08:25, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi sir, please check out this new article. Its a merger of Seals and emblems and Life and culture articles. I patterned it with these articles: Rutgers University traditions, Georgia Tech traditions, Dartmouth College traditions, Traditions and student activities at MIT, and Traditions of Texas A&M University. I was able to incorporate the table we made a few months ago. Haha! We could bulk up the article more and try to make it as a Good Article class, right? Thanks! Pampi1010 (talk) 06:40, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, but it seems we're lacking of information (I can't find any relevant info about Thomasian Goodwill Games! Haha). We will be having a problem on searching for relevant sources, images are very important as well. Anyway, maybe about 'UST Hymn' could be added here(?). I am seeing relevant info about Pautakan (e.g. its history), and can be transformed into a section. I'm not good at writing articles, by the way. Haha. — Philtro Talk 08:23, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- My issues:
- 1. My main goal why I retrieved and merged the articles is to feature all the college seals in one article. If I'll do that now, would this article be accused of being a "glorified gallery"? What do you think? (If you'd remember, the Seals and Emblems article faced that kind of problem.)
- 2. Re: Hymn. That's a great idea. We can put it before the college insignias.
- 3. Re: Thomasian Goodwill Games. Listing the sports events and perhaps the winners and rivalries between local colleges is a good start. We could also get stuff from the Varsitarian.
- 4. I'm also planning to incorporate the Evolution of Seals section in the History of UST article. But again, I'll face the similar problems: issue on being a glorified gallery, and the know hows on the wikipedia image licensing.
- 5. I'm pretty sure that we can make this article a GA class!
- Pampi1010 (talk) 10:45, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- 1. Strongly yes. It is because you're still doing the same thing, a gallery of copyrighted stuffs, which is usually impermissible. See non-free image use in galleries or tables.
- 4. I'm pretty sure, no issue will occur because those seals are over 100–400 years old. Let me help you add/fix licenses once you have uploaded those old seals. — Philtro Talk 11:10, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
Hey, is this a good thing? Transferring to commons? [1] Pampi1010 (talk) 13:38, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Philtro! Nagulat ako dun sa additions mo.. Galing! Nag email na ako sa Dragon Fireworks actually, and asked them about the songs already. They replied, but they wanted me to visit their office at P. Noval instead. When I emailed Dragon Fireworks, an alumnus of CFAD was the one who replied to my query. I dunno if Dragon Fireworks just forwarded it to him, or he's really an employee of the company. His job position is actually: UST Pyromusical choreographer. Astig no? I might give them a visit soon just to find out more about the fireworks.. how it was conceived.. etc... Anyway, I'm planning to put back the logos of UST in the History article. I may already have the enough info to fill up its section (in the History article). What image tag/license can I use for those old old images? Thanks again! Pampi1010 (talk) 09:48, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
- For seals na over 100 years, copy mo na lang yung Summary at Licensing sa file na 'to: File:UST seal 1875–1909.png. Just edit the file description, the date, and the author. :D — Philtro Talk
- Yeah, realized that I have asked that already. Thanks! Pampi1010 (talk) 16:53, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Herminio Dagohoy.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Herminio Dagohoy.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 16:49, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
UAAP Volleyball Tournament
Message added 19:18, 21 January 2013 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Please do not change the template of the UAAP volleyball tournaments. If you must know, the points seen in the template complies with the new UAAP rule. The rule is the team wins 3 points for a 3-set or 4-set victory and 2 points for a 5-set victory. The team that loses in 3 or 4 sets will get no points while the team that loses in a 5-set match will get 1 point. As you can see, there is no way, as of now, to make a template that would generate those points based on the current rule. If you do make one, props to you. But as of now, the points seen in the template are manually added. Thanks My Talk Page 19:18, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, really? I do not have any idea about the new point system in UAAP volleyball. I apologize for the conflicts I made. — Philtro Talk 14:36, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Coat of Arms of Western Australia.svg
Thanks for uploading File:Coat of Arms of Western Australia.svg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AussieLegend (✉) 09:30, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Armadale railway line
I fail to see how and why 2 separate railway lines need to be added the way you have done. please explain why, and show a very good WP:RS that shows it could or should be considered as one line? sats 14:47, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hello! Do you mean, the "Armadale/Thornlie railway line" should be separated as "Armadale railway line" and "Thornlie railway line"?
- Simple. The official timetable indicates Armadale/Thornlie line.
- It is considered as one due to an existing Pattern F, which stops all stations Perth to Armadale, except Thornlie (Perth to Beckenham, then Kenwick to Armadale).
- The tracks to Thornlie station is a spur, as it only shares part of the Armadale Line which is between the Beckenham and Kenwick stations.
try
To learn WP:SIGN - I would consider a spur to be a separate line, time tabling is one thing - the physical reality is it is a separate line... sats 15:56, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the edit. However, I have included the point system for the readers to know that the basis of the rankings is on the point system, even if it is evident from how the table is presented.
