Hi
This (especially the comma) is a very odd title for an article.
Did you consider searching to see if an article about this ship already exists (I believe it does).
--Dweller 10:48, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hi there thanks for you advise and yes there is an article on spirit of Tasmania but there are in fact four ships by this name this one being the original and the others have been added to the same page so I thought because of me going into detail of this ship and her sisters it would not really fit in on that page. Also I have had more info on the spirit of Tasmania page but it was deleted the person saying that they think the original sums it up so what to do ??? Mbruce1 11:01, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
I have moved your article from its ridiculous title to Spirit of Tasmania (first ship). Re the main article, according to the history you have done no significant edits. If you edited as an anon, you deserve to have your work reverted on principle. And why are you using your present id when user:Mbruce exists? - RHaworth 19:36, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi there thank you for doing that as I did not wont to call the article the first ship as you say it is ridiculous but I wonted to make a article sperate to the spirit of Tasmania one and the only way I knew how to make a new article was to click on a link that dose not yet exist and make it from there. I have done some editing on Spirit of Tasmania as User:144.139.19.226 but it may not have been relly fitting with the article so some one deleted it so I thought the best thing to do was to make an aticle devoted to this ship and not the other spirits. The reson I use Mbruce1 rather than Mbruce is that I fogot the password and the email address no longer exists so I made a new account.
Mbruce1 10:47, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi.
Glad you responded. There are several viable options, but an article called "The first ship" should really be about, erm, the first (ever) ship, should such a thing be possible to write about.
I'd suggest one of the following. Either Spirit of Tasmania can be made into a disambiguation page (preferred option) or post more information about each ship on the Spirit of Tasmania page.
If someone repeatedly deletes **valid** material, don't be intimidated. Discuss their motives on their user page. If that doesn't help, contact an admin and ask for help.
--Dweller 11:04, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks Dweller a disambiguation page seems the best way to go but from reading the page I am not relly sure how to turn it into one of these disambiguation pages Mbruce1 11:18, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- I think you're doing fine with your contributions on the existing page. If you're keen on a disambig, I think the most courteous thing to do would be to raise the idea on the Talk page of the article and see what the other contributors think. Alternatively, you could post on the personal talk pages of the most active editors on that page. Wait until you're a little less green before wading in though, if you want some friendly "been-there" advice. --Dweller 11:28, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe you should consider renaming the article Fjord Norway, the vessels current name? Red Fox 15:39, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks that is a good idea and I will do that Mbruce1 09:48, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hey good to see a tasmanian maritime item being worked on - hey that tas steamer article is dangerously vulnerable... you must get a tag and stub on it to save it from marauding eds.. will do - hey you might be interested to know that i started the Australian maritime history project - hey you should join up! SatuSuro 13:13, 10 February 2007 (UTC) Have a look -Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian maritime history
Hi there I am not really sure how to stub it. Australian maritime history project sounds good ! Mbruce1 13:22, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- If its about tasmanian subject with history - best to put it straight into category history of tasmania.
Also have a look at what I put on the talk page - as well...SatuSuro 13:24, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Its (the project) a bit quiet at the moment - but there are parts stonger than others... worth a look around. And there is also a Tasmania project as well! Wikipedia:WikiProject Tasmania -- SatuSuro 13:31, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
So it’s safe now? I may expand it in time but will have to see. I have put my name down on Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian maritime history But I will really only be able to help out on the ferries. Do the old Australian National Lines ferries qualify or not? Mbruce1 13:36, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Anything that floats or has floated in australian waters i guess :) SatuSuro 13:42, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh well that’s great as I do a bit in the TT-line, ANL ect.BTW thanks for all this too.
- BTW your australian nationl line art is in a serious need of a good copy edit - but do you want to be taken through it, or do you want to do it? SatuSuro 04:47, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Well I am not even sure what you mean so if you could take me take through it that would be great. Mbruce1 04:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I desperately need to go to the tip with some rubbish - probably late tonight your time... sorry have real life to attend to... :) SatuSuro 05:13, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
No worrie’s mate. Its only just before 15.30 here in QLD. Mbruce1 05:25, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I keep saying I need to get to the tip - and then another damned thing comes up on the watch list - must go now -seeya later SatuSuro 05:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Very embarrassed
[edit]Could we try again next weekend? sorry got real life problems invading - ver sorry I didnt get back to you - could we try again? SatuSuro 12:44, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Don’t be embarrassed mate I am defiantly in no rush, weekend sound fine to me or when ever your ready, but one thing is it possible to tell when some one is online even if they have not done any editing at that time ect ? Mbruce1 13:32, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah - you need to look on your watch list - and where a single person has done an edit on an article - it can have a talk and contribitions thinks to click on, or... if they have an article edit - look in th article history - and it should have when they last edited... it always worth trawling around an article and a user page and click on everything to find out whats what... SatuSuro 13:39, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Will you be available tomorrow (Sunday 4/3) some time around midday ? If so may we try to have a go at this ? Mbruce1 13:17, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Still very embarrsed - will try to catch up soon - sorry about that too many threads - :) SatuSuro 11:42, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
No worries mate, when ever your ready :) Mbruce1 12:03, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I suppose I should have asked - are you adding ok to articles?
- How are you finding it - the experience - is it ok?
- IS there any problem area?
- Have other editors been helping? Like in the articles themselves?
- Are there any questions from how you have been editing?
- I will look at your contributions list later tonight or tommorow to have a look too.. cheers SatuSuro 12:32, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Every thing seems to be going all right I think, I am just chugging along slowly.
It is quite enjoyable and maybe a little addictive not sure why though.lol
There have not been to many problems as such (yet) I know my grammar, spelling ect is not the best but that's not a huge problem thanks to spell check ect but it doesn't work on every thing.
There dose not seem to be any other editors doing any thing on the articles I touch but that’s ok,
I cant think of any questions at the moment but thanks very much for asking after me very kind of you
Catch ya Mbruce1 12:46, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
OK if its ok - maybe I will catch up later - its good to see you reccognise the addiction :) I have thousands of pages in edits and watch list and it never stops. Please do not hesitate to track me down if you have any problems at all! SatuSuro 13:01, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Actually there is something I could use a little help with and that’s the image tag thing below, I am not all that sure how to add the tag or what ever they want, your help would be much appreciated. Mbruce1 13:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- OK - uploading images - it must be free of any possible copyright issues - if its yours - you have to more or less declare its yours - or its source as a copyright free state. Try reading the things they ask you to read - and see if that helps. I might have to jump off real quick tonight - I have sick children.. so if I am delayed inthe next bit - or to respond after now, my apologies :) SatuSuro 13:18, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
To be honest reading all of that makes me even more confused, is it so that if some one wants they can put this pic up on other web sites ect and use it for commercial purposes like selling the photo or something ? Is it basically like any photo on Wiki is a "free for all" sort of thing ?
even so I cant really find where to tag the photo it goes on with a lot of what it means but not exactly how too and where too add the tag ect,
I think I will go to bed and have a go tomorrow some time.
Thanks for your help its much appreciated. Mbruce1 13:46, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Can you add a photo from German Wikipedia to the English Wikipedia ?
[edit]{{helpme}}
I am wondering if it is possible to add a photo from wikipedia but on anther language ? This particular photo is http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Corsica_Victoria.jpg. I have tried adding it but since image is translated to Bild in danish (I think) the formating is wrong i geuss so it dosent work for me. Thanks in advance for any help.Mbruce1 10:54, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Images can't be included between projects, except from the Wikimedia Commons onto any other project. You'll have to check the image's copyright status, and reupload it at Commons or here if the status is appropriate, to be able to use it here. --ais523 10:42, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh ok. Thanks for your Help :-) Mbruce1 10:54, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
One other thing, how do i tell the copyright status since it's not in English ? Mbruce1 11:00, 14 November 2007 (UTC).
- I ran the page through an online translator: the license appears to be the German (not Danish) equivalent of {{NoRightsReserved}}, which means that relicensing it should be fine. I'm not too clear on the process for moving images around, though; try asking at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, where you're more likely to find editors who know how to do this. --ais523 12:31, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for that, I may look into it in the future but I fond some other pics that work so I may just leave it for now. Opps on that German part, I saw the de. Part of the address and thought Denmark, but I forgot that Germans say Deutschland for themselves :-) Mbruce1 12:45, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Moving MS Spirit of Tasmania to MS Princess of Norway
[edit]{{helpme}}
Hi, I am trying to move the article MS Spirit of Tasmania to MS Princess of Norway, but the article MS Princess of Norway is already in existence, but still in stub form and all that it contains is in the MS Spirit of Tasmania article, once moved I can fix it up to fit the new name.
Thanks Mbruce1 (talk) 02:39, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- OK, here's one way to proceed. Put a "prod" (proposed deletion) notice on MS Princess of Norway. You do that by putting {{subst:prod|in order to be able to move the page [[MS Spirit of Tasmania]] here, which contains all the same information plus more anyway}} . That is, you put {{subst:prod|reason}} and put an explanation of why you want to delete it as your "reason". See Template:prod. Then you wait about 5 days. If nobody deletes the prod template, then an admin will come along and delete the page after about 5 days. If someone disagrees with you, though, they can delete the prod template and then you would have to use some other method -- you can't put the prod on twice. The five-day period is to give people a chance to object if they want to keep that page for some reason. You may also want to explain in more detail on the talk page of that page. Once it's deleted, it should be easy to move the other page. I hope this helps. I turned off you helpme by putting "tnull" in it. --Coppertwig (talk) 03:40, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
That is very helpful, thanks. I see what I need to do now Mbruce1 (talk) 04:22, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

ferries in Queensland
[edit]I noticed that you've interested in ferries. Late last year the State Library of Queensland donated 50,000 images to Wikimedia Commons, and 5000 images of ships were upload in March. I've gone through and categorised the ferry related images into:
- commons:Category:Ferries in Queensland
- commons:Category:Ferry transport in Queensland
- commons:Category:Ferries in New South Wales
The rest of the images of ships can be found in commons:Category:Ships of Australia and commons:Category:Ships in Queensland. John Vandenberg (chat) 07:24, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
