Hi
[edit]Hi Brisbane Wikipedians, I've just moved to our beautiful city here. I look forward to a meetup at some stage. Cheers, Colin MacLaurin (talk) 03:05, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
new meeting?
[edit]Hello all.
we've not had a meeting since '08- should we think of having another soon?
ck (talk) 11:13, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
- Any chance you are interested in going to Dogwood Crossing on June 20? ;-) John Vandenberg (chat) 09:33, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
late June?
[edit]I will be up in Brisbane for the weekend of 25-26 June. (Three weeks away) Do we want to organise a meetup? John Vandenberg (chat) 02:01, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- I am somewhat interested. I expect to be occupied already on Saturday though. Colin MacLaurin (talk) 04:47, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, count me in. Lankiveil (speak to me) 07:15, 5 June 2011 (UTC).
How does The Ship Inn @ Southbank sound? Menu here. It's a bit pricier than it used to be when I lived in a dive on Vulture Street. ;-( Any other suggestions? --John Vandenberg (chat) 15:49, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
- Happy with the Ship Inn, maybe also the Plough Inn if we're going to do South Bank, although it can get pretty busy on a Saturaday. Lankiveil (speak to me) 06:41, 18 June 2011 (UTC).
We've decided to have a BBQ. Meat and drinks will be provided. Bring a salad or something similar if you can. John Vandenberg (chat) 22:25, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- I expect to be there. Colin MacLaurin (talk) 13:47, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've had a late night! Not sure how I'll go, but have a great catchup either way. Colin MacLaurin (talk) 18:11, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- How did the meet end up going? I wanted to come, but was up past 4am the night before, and needed some sleep. Colin MacLaurin (talk) 06:36, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

What to bring, for 26 June 2011
[edit]The extent of my salad creation abilities is limited to a trip to Woolworths. I could pick up Coleslaw, Pasta salad or Potato salad - they come in 350g or 800g containers. I guess it depends on what other people bring. Cheers --Commander Keane (talk) 04:23, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
I've just bought a big load of sausages, and I'll pop into the supermarket and buy some paper plates and cutlery tomorrow morning. Lankiveil (speak to me) 07:00, 25 June 2011 (UTC).
I've got a case of beer, a tossed greek salad, & six rolls. John Vandenberg 07:28, 25 June 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.169.2.210 (talk)
I guess I'll drop into the shops and get some soft drinks and cups tomorrow morning. - Zero1328 Talk? 09:57, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Question about attending meetups
[edit]Hey, do I have to be 18+ to attend? (I'm 17) Also am I allowed to just put my name down or do I have to be formally invited? TravellerQLD (talk) 13:50, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Meetings in 2015 or 2016?
[edit]I am working on the WikiProject Sanitation and will be in Brisbane from Oct. 2015 until Aug. 2016. Am trying to see if QLD universities could use Wikipedia more for teaching on WASH topics, and would be keen to meet active Wikipedians in Brisbane. Looks like there hasn't been a meeting for a while though - anyone still active? EvM-Susana (talk) 12:27, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- I am active but not exactly on sanitation, although I think I have contributed on some historic drains. Kerry (talk) 22:58, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- I'm a very early but largely inactive wikipedian, but active and interested enough that I have Meetup/Brisbane on my watchlist. If something got organised, I'd try and make it :) --.../NemoThorx (talk • Contributions) 00:08, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
2024/25 meetup
[edit]Any chance of a 2024/25 meetup? Nford24 (PE121 Personnel Request Form) 23:50, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- This is an opportunity to be bold. There are no rules on this. Nominate a date and time and a place. In the past we have often used State Library of Queensland (where there are spaces you can book for free). Brisbane City Council also has free meeting rooms for non-commercial purposes in many of its libaries (ie there is no fee to people to attend). Sometimes cafes or pubs are chosen. Your call. I note you will never make all of the people happy all of the time in terms of when and where. Kerry (talk) 09:53, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- As my impression is that you are not a Brisbane local, if you want some help with Brisbane arrangements, email me via Wikipedia. Kerry (talk) 10:21, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
