[edit]Please do not revert the link that I corrected in this article. Italian is a disambiguation page, as you can see by following the link. The link should either point to the correct substantive article, which in this case is Italy, or it could be removed because it is redundant. Links should go to articles, not to disambiguation pages which are merely navigational aids. --Russ (talk) 16:17, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Cecilia Samartin
[edit]A tag has been placed on Cecilia Samartin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -- Darth Mike (Talk • Contribs) 01:05, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I noticed that you linked dates at List of Speakers of the House of Magnates of Hungary. This practice is now deprecated. Please see WP:LINKING and WP:MOSNUM. I'm happy to respond to any inquiries you may have about the matter. Ohconfucius (talk) 15:40, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Ohconfucius!
Thank you very much for letting me know. List of Speakers of the House of Magnates of Hungary is unfortunately not the only article where I have linked dates. I will dicontinue this practice from now on.

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Abce2|Howdy! 02:14, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

RE:Presidents of the Legislative Council of Jamaica
[edit]When I tried the link to the 'Official website of Houses of Parliament, Jamaica' it said the page could not be found. As the only reference on the page did not work, I said it does not have any references or sources. I suggest you try the link yourself and if it doesn't work, try to find one that does. If it does work, it may be due to an anomalous fault on my server or you may not be able to access the website from certain regions. Once you have added working references, feel free to remove the unreferenced tag. Thanks, WikiWizarrd123 (talk) 11:13, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi WikiWizarrd123! I have found s link that works. I have removed the unreferenced tag. Thank you very much!

Gorno-Badakhshan chairmen
[edit]Hi, it seems to me that, despite the terminology on Rulers.org, the Executive Committee as an institution does not exist in GBAO any more. The current sources that I see all refer to the "Head of GBAO" as the "Chairman of GBAO", without mentioning the Executive Committee (now defunct?). See, e.g., this new item. This is also the language in Article 78 of the Constitution of Tajikistan. Perhaps the article title should be changed from List of Chairmen of the Executive Committee of Gorno-Badakhshan to simply [[List of Chairmen of Gorno-Badakhshan]], or better still [[List of Chairmen of Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province]]. For your consideration. --Zlerman (talk) 04:00, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I have no changed the article title to List of Chairmen of Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province. Thank you very much for your information. Do you, by any chance, know if the Provincial Supreme Soviet has a website in English?
Mbakkel2 (talk) 14:59, 8 May 2009
- Curiously enough, I do not find an official site for Gorno-Badakhshan (or for any of the Tajik oblasts!). In any event the "Supreme Soviet" is now called "Majlis of People's Deputies" (Маджлис народных депутатов) -- and there is one in each province (Article 77 of the Constitution). These provincial-level majlises are part of the structure of local government in Tajikistan. --Zlerman (talk) 15:28, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of List of Presidents of the Parliament of Cantabria
[edit]A tag has been placed on List of Presidents of the Parliament of Cantabria requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Lyric copyright violation
[edit]Hi. I noticed you were making an effort to get rid of the tag requesting references in Have You Ever Been Lonely?. That I know of, the only "lyrics site" that gives royalties to artists is www.metrolyrics.com. The others are violating international copyright laws, including the one you used www.lyricsdownload.com. Referencing a site that violates the law is 100% disallowed in Wikipedia, I don't know whether you are aware. (The only "exception" is when the specific page is a song that is not in copyright -- those tend to be in the early 20th century.)
Similarly, you quoted www.lyricstime.com in Money Honey (Clyde McPhatter song). I tried to get these lyrics on www.metrolyrics.com, but (significantly), I got this message: "We are not in a position to display these lyrics due to licensing restrictions. Sorry for the inconvinience." So it's a safe assumption these lyrics are not available anywhere that is legal.
I guess the "upside" is that it really isn't that difficult for Wiki readers to get lyrics from official sites (or even the illegal ones), so it isn't as if the lyric information is at all difficult to verify -- outside of Wikipedia. Regards, Piano non troppo (talk) 10:38, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
P.S. I presume you contribute to the Norsk Wiki too. The same law (the Berne Convention) applies there. Since my Norwegian is completely lousy, maybe you're the person to catch problems there? Regards, Piano non troppo (talk) 10:43, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

"Death Is a Caress"
[edit]The section in question of the film noir article must efficiently summarize the very broad field of noir-styled films made outside the United States. Unfortunately, we can not mention every noir-ish film (either American or otherwise) in the article. In the English-language literature that the English-language encyclopedia relies on for a general topic such as film noir, Death Is a Caress is virtually invisible, unlike the other films named in the section. Of course, it would be perfectly appropriate to include it in the Norse article on film noir. Best, Dan.—DCGeist (talk) 19:51, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Edit summaries
[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to List of Presidents of the Prussian House of Deputies. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Best, Eisfbnore talk 20:43, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hello Eisfbnore! Thank you very much for letting me know. I'll do so from now on Mbakkel2 21:49, 25 February 2011 (CET)
- Well, since I left this note, you've made more than one thousand edits, of which less than twenty were accompanied by an edit summary. Please! Also, you don't need to tag each edit of yours as minor, only those who really are minor. --Eisfbnore talk 21:27, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Mbakkel,
It looks like you just asked a question on Wikipedia talk:Questions about nobility. You probably won't get an answer there since that page is devoted to discussing the questions page itself. You should try asking on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Politics, I think they would be able to help you out. Thanks, Qrsdogg (talk) 14:14, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Chairmen of the Moldavian SSR Supreme Soviet

Dashes
[edit]When entering date ranges please follow the this format:
- Years/moths alone: not spaced n-dash. Example: 1990–2010 (compare to simple hyphen: 1990-2010) or January–December or January 1–31
- Years with months/dates: spaced n-dash. Example: January 1, 1990 – December 31, 2010 or January 1 – December 31, 1990
Thanks, Renata (talk) 20:02, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, please put spaces before and after the dashes in complex date ranges. And yes, I do have the source for 1955 for Niunka. Renata (talk) 17:37, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- Re dashes: as in above example "January 1, 1990 – December 31, 2010" -> note that there is a space on each side of the dash (after 1990 and before December). In your dates you have it as "January 1, 1990–December 31, 2010". Hope this clarifies.
- Re source: it is his bio in a Soviet encyclopedia. I do not understand why you are so insistent on this. I am not pestering you about your sources. BTW, the websites that you linked to are textbook cases of unreliable sources. Renata (talk) 21:17, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- No, the encyclopedia is not available online. But the 1st result of this search gives you snippet preview that Niunka was "1946–1962 m. jis buvo SSRS AT, nuo 1947 LTSR AT deputatas, 1955—1963 m. LTSR AT pirmininkas" -> LTSR AT pirmininkas = Speaker of the Supreme Soviet. Renata (talk) 15:37, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Re: Vakhtang Goguadze
[edit]I truly doubt that source is correct. In previous version of list of speakers of Georgian Parliament, it was claimed that Vakhtang Goguadze served as speaker in the same period as Eduard Shevardnadze (November 6, 1992-1995). Very contradictory and highly unlikely, IMHO. --Sundostund (talk) 17:13, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
The situation in Georgia was similar to the one i Estonia. Arnold Rüütel was Chairman of the Supreme Council and Ülo Nugis was speaker. The former was head of state, the latter was presiding officer of the parliament. Shevardnadze was head of state, while Goguadze was presiding officer.Mbakkel2 (talk) 19:03, 30 January 2014 (CET)

http://www.parliament.ge/files/1_1148_107113_18.pdf
http://1tv.ge/news-view/11964?lang=en
- As far as I understand, Shevardnadze was both head of state and chairman of parliament from 1992 to 1995. In that period, position of the President of Georgia was abolished, and head of parliament was simultaneously head of state. Shevardnadze was appointed chairman of parliament and served as such until 1995, when he was elected President and ceased to be head of parliament, according to Britannica. I don't see anything what needs to be changed at article about chairpersons of Georgian parliament. --Sundostund (talk) 20:12, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
- You rely on one source. I rely on several sources, all of which are trustworthy and reliable. I have referred to books written by scholars and by information found on the Georgian parliament website. And I guess that the Georgian parliament knows its previous speakers. Both names are listed in "Europa World Year Book". I thought that our common goal was to offer a Wikipedia with correct information. By ommiting Goguadze, who WAS speaker 1992-1995 (while Shevardnadze was head of state) is a great injustice towards the readers. If you read Karen Dawisha's book "Russia and the New States of Eurasia: The Politics of Upheaval", you'll see that Shevardnadze was CHAIRMAN not speaker) of parliament with the powers of head of state and that Goguadze was speaker of the parliament.[1]
Mbakkel2 (talk) 11:49, 31 January 2014 (CET)
- Britannica is reliable enough to trust it, IMHO. Shevardnadze was both head of state and parliament (positions were merged in 1992-1995 period). After all, the article in question is Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia, i.e. about CHAIRMEN of parliament, and Shevardnadze served exactly in that position. Sorry if I don't post further responses, cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 12:09, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- But if you follow the article below you'll find a chapter named "Speakers of the Georgian Parliament". Goguadze was speaker.Mbakkel2 (talk) 17:111, 31 January 2014 (CET)
A few questions
[edit]Lets try to make this clear. According to you, Shevardnadze served as Chairman and Goguadze served as Speaker during the same period (1992-1995). If that's so, let me ask you this questions:
1) Would you support having both Shevardnadze and Goguadze listed in the Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia? (as it was before I remodeled the article and removed Goguadze because it seemed to me as an error to have him in the list)
2) Can you tell me the precise dates when Goguadze started and finished his term as Speaker? Day, month and year?
3) To which political party Goguadze was affiliated?
The last two questions are intended to make it possible to include Goguadze in the list as it is formatted now. All officeholders there have precise dates of starting and leaving office and party affiliation.
We should try to find a compromise, and I think my proposal and questions are a good step in that direction. --Sundostund (talk) 19:59, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- Mbakkel2, please respond here when you have enough time. When you provide sourced data I asked you about, I hope I'll be able to add it to the Chairpersons article and thereby find a compromise for our dispute. --Sundostund (talk) 16:06, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

- Hi again, Mbakkel! I just included data you send me today to the Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia article. As for dates of Vakhtang Goguadze's term as Speaker, its pretty simple - we know that he took office on November 6, 1992, and we also know that his successor, Zurab Zhvania, took office on November 25, 1995. It seems logically that Goguadze's term ended on November 25, 1995, when is successor took office. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that article is OK now - as we agreed, both Shevardnadze and Goguadze are now listed there. --Sundostund (talk) 20:23, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

--TIAYN (talk) 18:21, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Et personlig standpunkt moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Et personlig standpunkt. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it is not in English. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. CycloneYoris talk! 06:16, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hallo, I woke up early this morning. The article was intended for the Norwegian-language version of Wikipedia, and I cannot really explain why it landed on English-language Wikipedia. Best wishes! Mbakkel2 [[[User talk:Mbakkel2|talk]] 07:34, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
